Cozy, tidy, and located in the old gate house in the 14th century city walls, the Klassik is both quaint and comfortable and located close to the best restaurants and cafes.  The rooms are smallish, but arrow-slit windows and half-timber walls make them work!

A Classic Klassik

Just spent the weekend there and it exceeded all our expectations. 

Best location literally at the entrance of the old town with all the restaurants and shops at your door step. At check-in we were offered a package  that included breakfast and parking for an extra 20 €.  Parking is about 100 meters from the hotel. Flossenbürg  which was the reason for our stay is at a 15 minute drive. 

Room was super clean, with all the amenities expected except for a coffee/tea station. We missed having hot herb teas at night or coffee in the morning. There was a bathtub which was appreciated. TV was lacking English news channels; no BBC nor CNN ( maybe it’s a positive point after all…) 

We booked the spa which we had for ourselves. The spa is large enough with 2 or 3 saunas (only one was working), showers, jacuzzi (which we had to pay about 20€ extra to use but it was prepared specially for us) , a relax area with chaises and an outside section as well to cool off after sauna. I think there was an other sauna outside but it wasn’t in function neither. Towels and sandals are provided. You had to reserve in advance and it seems that you must book a la carte services. There was a massage room as well and a small / basic gym.

Very good continental breakfast. Buffet style with ample offer including boiled eggs. No gluten free bread was available but I had brought mine as I didn’t ask for it at time of reservation so it wasn’t really expected nor was it a problem. 

All the staff members were nice and qualified. 

Should we return to that beautiful town, we would choose to stay there again.

The staff was so accommodating with us while we traveled with very specific demands and helped us get a wonderful stay. The hotel is right In the perfect spot for a nice walk around a beautiful peaceful park or to walk right into the city center where there’s food and drinks  

Excellent stay wonderful staff 

This hotel is at the end of the main walking street in Weiden, so you are close to lots of things to do.  The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly.  The room was clean and had everything we needed.  It was interesting that the old city wall is part of the hotel (picture)  On Saturday morning we found a farmer's market on the street outside, that was an extra fun thing.  Breakfast was good.  We parked in a public parking ramp and walked to the hotel, only about 5 minutes.

Perfect location

I booked the junior suite and this is really spectacular. About 40 sqm with separate bathroom with toilet, sink and shower and inside the room, downstairs a whirlpool. Also a balcony with very nice garden view. I wrote penthouse cause it’s like a penthouse; no neighbour rooms as at the end of a long floor.

Once again I stayed over in Weiden for one night on the way to the alps with my motorbike. As always the hotel was top class. You have a garage for the bike and the possibility to clean your bike. A great plus is that the back door from the hotel is the front door from the pedestrian zone where you can eat and drink until the hearts content 

Always worth a visit

The Klassik am Tor is one of the most charming and feels-like-home comfortable hotels I've stayed in over many years.  Once part of the city gate, some of the interior walls date to the 1300s, and the high rooms next to the gate tower boast the original arrow slits and half-timbers from the 1500s.  Even if you are not a history buff, the hotel is cozy (especially in the winter), although a little stuffy in the late summer (no A/C).  Breakfasts are very nice, the mini-pub is comfy, and the hotel is walking distance to the best parts of the town and the old town center.  The staff is extremely attentive, fun, and the recent renovations have only improved on a very charming site.

Gateway to Charm

If you are staying in Weiden you couldn't do much better than this. Lovely old style hotel, right in the centre of Weiden. The hotel is clean, organised, has good wifi and just a few yards away is the bustling centre with every variety of cafe, restaurant or bar that you might want to visit.
