The hotel was good but there was no shops except a bakery it was a half hour on bus to get to next town to get to a shop .The Owners were very nice food good we went with a coach trip The hotel had no night entertainment rather boring. Free bar was ok.It would had been better if a local pub shop etc was next too the hotel .It was just as well it was a coach trip other than that you would be stuck in a hotel with a very busy noisy road and nothing and nowhere too go .

One Trip is Enough No shops pubs cafes etc Going by Coach was Worthwhile

We arrived as a coach group to find we were too early as the guest house not hotel (clue in the name) was not ready so after a few german speakers in our group sorted it out, We were given keys to the lift which was outside the building so we could access the rooms between 9am and 5pm. Everyone was hot and bothered, I had a room overlooking a muddy bank at the back but it was quieter as the front rooms were on a very busy road, Finally got my issues sorted out went for dinner and the food was delicious, Drinks reasonable price, we had free drinks 8,30 to 10,00 waste of time too late...... had a great trip but accommodation in wrong location. Guest house shut so no bar and nowhere to go. Only a butcher and bakers in this village.

A bit quirky but food great

A great family run budget guesthouse/hotel in a small (very) village.  Good food, good old fashioned service and clean.  Drinks very reasonably priced.
Only complaint was that the towels were all clearly decades old, and so rough that you got an unwanted exfoliation every time they were used!

Traditional

This "Guest House" was closed from 9am till 5pm so only had room if there between these times. Twin beds were attached together with a headboard and footboard so could not be separated. Ours felt damp as did clothes when put on. Breakfast was reasonable and fresh and service was good. Evening meal had no choices, only a veggie option, so if what was on the menu was not to your palate you went without. Upon asking what was on the menu, the staff were uncertain. I must say that upon arriving on the first night around 11pm, they did go out of there way to give us a meal which was beef steak and was cooked to perfection, but this seemed to go downhill for the following nights. We had certain free drinks between 830pm and 10, but when one of our party who only drinks water and chocolate asked for one of these, they were charged. I know these were not included in the "Selected", but feel it was a tad mean when we all paid the same booking price. The only place open in the village was a bakery which closed at 5pm so no chance of nipping out for something to eat. o lounge or reception so sat on dining chairs all night. Also no form of any entertainment. Not my ideal holiday stay.

Disappointing.

Stayed here recently as part of a coach party.  It's family run and in a very quiet village with a bakery and butcher shop. Meals were a set menu but were tasty and well-cokked with extra poetions if wanted. Breakfast was a large buffet - juice, cereals, cheese, pate, meats (hams) and warm bread rolls/breads along with perfectly cooked boiled eggs. Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. Our room was large and spacious with a big balcony, facing the busy main road, with double glazing which helped to reduce noise. There was no tea and coffee facility but we had our own travel kettle. The bathroom was large though a little dated. Everything was cleaned to a very high standard and we'd definitely stay here again. The owners were very pleasant!

Lovely Hotel in Black Forest

Stayed here in early May 2022.  The hotel owners and staff were first class - very friendly and accommodating.

Room had en suite shower and wc but no air conditioning.  Liquid soap dispensers provided in shower and over sink.  Managed to sleep well with window open.  All rooms were very clean.  Room also had a TV but no tea or coffee making facilities.

Breakfast and evening meals were very good.  Breakfast was buffet style with a choice of cheeses, sliced meats and boiled eggs along with freshly baked rolls, sliced bread, fresh butter, jams and marmalade.  Tea and coffee were provided.  

Wines and draught beer are available.

The nearest railway station (Oberwinden) is located around ten to fifteen minutes walk from the hotel.  The nearest bus stop is located just outside the hotel.

Tip:  The main road is very busy so when crossing the road advise you use the pedestrian crossing close to the hotel entrance.

Friendly and Pleasant Hotel

We stayed for 3 nights, comfortable,  spacious room, although we didn't spend much time in it.  Breakfast was delicious, freshly baked rolls and bread, ham, cheese, preserves, plenty of choice, fresh coffee. Evening meals from a limited selection but there was always something there that we liked - well cooked, large portions.  Nice wines. 
The towels in the bathroom were rather rough - same fabric softener would have been good!! But they did the job.

Comfortable gastof

Comfortable, modern, spacious 3 star room with flat screen tv, & a clean,bright, well-equipped shower room, wc, hair dryer-all one needs.
It has the typical Bar/Lounge/Dining area clad in local style with lots of wood.
The Restaurant prices were very reasonable compared with Restaurants in other villages & towns, well-cooked by the Proprietors personally, very tasty and extremely substantial amounts provided.
This Gasthof provides a very authentic stay - in a non-tourist village at a Gasthof typical of the area, with little English spoken.

Authentic Black Forest farming village stay

stayed here from 2nd December to 6th December, I went on a coach xmas market weekend and this is the hotel that the coach company booked us into. We stayed on a Half board basis. We didn`t arrive until very late on the Friday therefore were not provided a meal, however we knew about this in advance. The hotel is very nice and has a traditional feel to it. We had a room on the second floor at the back of the hotel which was good as we also had a balcony. However a couple of our friends had rooms at the front of the hotel and said that they could hear the traffic all night long. As the hotel is on a busy road. 
Rooms were not very warm even though they all had radiators, the towels that they provided were very worn out and rough feeling, glad that I took my own towel. No coffee/tea making facilites in the rooms, but we knew this so took travel kettles with us (so glad we did) 
The breakfast provided was continental which was fine, and the owner used to come round and serve the tea and coffee, which I thought wasn`t great, as there were a full coach staying in the hotel you only managed to get one small cup of tea. 
As for the evening meals, I feel this was very poor. We had two evening meals and on both occassions the meat was PORK both times, once served with chips and the next night served with veg and potato`s. There was no other choice and as a few of us don`t like pork we ended up going with out. 
They did serve soup first which was nice but again the same soup on both nights and no bread was provided. The dessert was ice cream on both night as well, so they didn`t really bother to make an effort with regards to the food. This was annoying because the hotel does have a restaurant which locals came to on the Sunday and they had a varied choice of food so it wasn`t that they didn`t have it in. 
The location of the hotel was fine due to how close it was for the markets we were attending. 
Would I stay at this hotel again? NO

Not to best

Having very recently stayed at this hotel / guesthouse in June 2014, and noticing that there were no other reviews yet, I thought it might be helpful to post my experiences as soon as possible.

I'll start with the good points. The hotel is an easy walk from the railway station in Oberwinden, and the walking route is reasonably well lit at night. It's only a village so the walk was very pleasant. The owners have a limited knowledge of English and were friendly enough, and staying here meant we were issued with a free rail and bus pass (Konos Card) for use in the region - this was given to us soon after arrival. The breakfasts were more than adequate and plenty of choice offered, served in the help-yourself hotel buffet style. All rooms appear to be ensuite and had flat screen TV. The downstairs bar was available until 11 p.m which was quite late enough during our stay, anyway. Wardrobes in the bedrooms were large and had plenty of hangers available.

The bad points. The whole premises feels like it really could do with a major refurbishment. The interior was generally very drab brown and looked a bit scruffy in places. The towels supplied felt crispy rather than soft, and there was no tea or coffee facility in the room. The rooms all have old-fashioned chunky keys and even chunkier key fobs, which is a nuisance to carry round all day. From my point of view the worst part was being on the front, right by the main road through the village, which up to midnight and then from 5 a.m sounded more like the M25, probably because of the very close proximity and the echo from buildings opposite. There is no air conditioning which meant having the window open to keep cool enough, therefore disturbed sleep. The beds were rather basic too. And there appeared to be no Wi-Fi.

We were on a package tour so I don't know the price paid, however I did notice that the price for a double room seems to be around 45-50 Euros per night including breakfast. If that is correct then the facilities offered are probably on a par with the price.
