This hotel is a great place to stay on Amorgos.  It is conveniently located near the port.  We had a room on the back, overlooking a garden.  It was very quiet even though it was less than 100 ft. from the port. The bed was fantastic.  We told Giannis, the owner, that we wish we could strap the bed to our backs and carry it throughout the islands.  Giannis recommended a great place to eat, Youkali.  We will certainly stay with him the next time we visit.

A great place to stay

Porto Katapola Pension is situated at the port of Katapola.  We stayed in the double room with seaview - it is a spacious and clean room with a balcony that offers beautiful views towards the port and the rest of Katapola.  John (Yannis) was an outstanding host.  He was very polite, helpful and attentative to all our requests. He immediately made us feel very welcome to his property.  The room is well priced for what it offers and we can strongly recommend it to fellow travellers.

What a pleasure to stay in the family home at Porto Katapola!
The house is situated perfectly in a private, quiet and lush garden and in walking distance of just one or two minutes from the port.
We were two couples travelling together and the house and its surroundings provided all the space we needed - and even more. We enjoyed the opportunity to dispose of the three(!) different terraces around the house: Breakfast at the most shady terrace in the morning, "work station" at the other terrace under the old tree and the beautiful bougainville, and finally evening drinks accompanied by stargazing and ferryspotting on the upper balcony of the house - what a luxury!
The atmosphere of the family home is just... homely. It is cozy, clean and comfortable with attention paid to even the smallest details inside and outside the house.
Giannis is in every sense a gracious host: So helpful, attentive and accomodating. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

The family home - a little corner of Paradise

This boarding house is a quiet and relaxing place. Close to the ferry dock, 3mns on foot. Yiannis, the host, speaks excellent English. He is always available, with little care, very attentive to the quality of your stay on the island. We shared pleasant times with him. We had room No. 7 with a view of the garden, sheltered from the prevailing wind. Small bathroom, spacious and well decorated room, a large bed and a nice terrace. We take the time to settle down under the tide of its lush and green garden, a haven of peace.

A charming host and ideal setting

I'm not sure all the reviews are about this establishment! It's a small boarding house of 4/5 studios on the harbour with terraces overlooking either the harbour with a nice view or the countryside behind. It's owned by Giannis, a very charming man who knows by his hospitality, availability and advice how to make your stay the most enjoyable. We had a simple but comfortable studio, big for 2 and very functional, with a view of the harbour (not as close to the ferry as some commentary says), very quietly very well soundproofed, large bed and functional kitchenette.

I'm on top!

First time at this wonderful pension.The location for starters was great,you can't miss it,at the center of Katapola but simultaneously calm and quiet.The rooms are extremely clean,spacious and neat,feels like they are brand new.
On the back,there is a nice backyard,nice touch.As for the host,what can I say about John:Super kind,super professional,discrete but whenever we asked,came up with the best ideas and suggestions for restaurants,beaches and little daily tours that made our stay better!
Definitely I'm coming back and highly recommend!

Great place,great people!!

Our second stay at this wonderful pension and just as good as the first, even though I was ill!!  Giannis is simply wonderful and looks after you discretely but exceptionally well with gifts and help if needed.  The views and location of the front rooms just cannot be beaten.  This time we stayed in the end studio which was slightly larger inside and out than the middle one we stayed in last time and got the sun a little earlier from about 9am on the wonderful balcony - a big plus for us as we spent hours sitting enjoying the views and watching the world go by.  Its a great spot for watching the comings and goings of this busy little port.  The location is perfect as it is right in the heart of the village but it is still quiet and relaxed.  The studio was spotless and is fantastic value for money.  It has great air con, shower, lots of mugs, plates and cutlery, a kettle and fridge - everything we need.  The rear rooms were being renovated when we were there but there was no noise from this and we look forward to seeing what has been done on our next visit.  We rarely revisit places but we absolutely love this pension and Katapola and cannot wait until our next visit which will without doubt be for longer as this is one of our favourite spots in the many Greek islands we have visited.  Highly recommended.

Love this place

Me and my fiancee were supposed to go to somewhere else but we were very disappointed by the other location and so we decided to book this pension. We were truly happy and satisfied with the choice as the son of the owner was very helpful and friendly in giving us a good price for the night and also a really nice room with a cute balcony with an awesome view on the port and the beautiful blue sea. He was also very helpful in helping us understanding the island better and how to get to places in the easiest and most comfortable way. For anyone who chooses to come to Amorgos I truly recommend this pension as it is perfectly located and is also very quiet at night and has both good services and good cleaning. It is located on the port so you have a chance to chose among the nicest places to eat and also near a few well equipped grocery stores in case you want to make your own food. It is also very convenient if you don't want to rent any car nor scooter because in few minutes you can reach the bus stop that takes you any place you want to visit in the island at any time of the day. Also as it is on the port you can always take the taxi boat, which is very cheap to go to the beautiful beaches right in front. Me and my fiancee had a great time here and we will definitely come back soon.

Exellent!

Choose a seafront room!  The views are wonderful from your private balcony.  Always something different going on in the bay to look at.  Little touches make a difference - welcoming and farewell small gift.  The 5 Euros breakfast deal is great value and many restaurants are close by.  We recommend Youkali. The whole island is laid back and very relaxing. Hope to come again.
