This is a superb hotel. First, it is set in one of the most beautiful parts of Greece, which has recently become a World Heritage Site - there are many walks and sites of natural beauty as well as charming villages (And Pedina, where Porphyron is located, is on elf these). Secondly, the individuals who run the hotel could not be more welcoming or accommodating and by the end of your stay you feel you have made friends of them. Thirdly, the rooms are wonderfully comfortable, clean and distinctive. Fourthly, the food is superb whether you eat breakfast or choose to have supper (the latter comes as a kind of half-board offering - you simply eat what is offered on that particular evening, which is to say three delicious courses, at a merer 25 Euros per person). All in all a superb experience, which my wife and I will definitely repeat.

Excellent stay in this lovely boutique hotel set in the heart of the Zagori region. This was our second stay

Perfect in every sense of the word

Rita and Yannis couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. We had dinner at their small and intimate hotel on a beautifully flowering terrace every night and decided to extend our stay. 
The guest room was extraordinary- with four giant windows and access to the balcony overlooking the quaint and colourful courtyard. 
The hosts helped us with everything from tips to hiking trails to changing bus tickets to lending us wonderful hand carved walking sticks. Breakfast is served on the shady patio and is full of homemade marmalades and cakes, along with strong coffee and fresh juice. This guest house has a long history and has been lovingly restored by a couple who are attentive to every detail and seem to have chosen their profession with passion for a very rewarding and genuine way of life.
I wish we could have stayed even longer than our fantastic four nights in Ano Pedina!

Exceptional place to stay in one of Greece's most beautiful, and overlooked, locations.

In an era of a sweeping monoculture it is a privilege indeed to be exploring and knowing Epirus, its traditions and its music which reaches us unmolested since thousands of years in the form of the famous Laments.
Porfyron is a 19th century mansion restored with loving care and respect to tradition which serves as a boutique Hotel - I must immediately clarify the use of the word Hotel here lest I commit injustice to this leaving museum. Porfyron gives you the feeling of home were you to have one a hundred years ago with all the conveniences of today. 
Let yourself be immersed in the gentle hospitality of Rita and Yannis that cannot be matched by the most luxurious Hotels of the world.There a store of sweet surprises for you but beware : if only you are a lover of authenticity !

For lovers of authenticity only !

This September we were at Porfyron for the second time, after spring last year. We had a heavenly time - 9 days-  with Yannis and Rita, supported by beautiful weather and colorful surroundings. Even though it was sometimes very warm (>28 degrees) we made many lovely walks in the Zagori. We had a nice visit with Lena in Elafotopos for a short workshop on washing wool to felt (my wife Evelyn's a felter) . Yannis is  great cook and Rita is a perfect host (and making jams and liqueurs and a very cosy atmosphere!) We were spoiled in a perfect way!

Porfyron, with Rita and Yannis is - although 'just' at 1000 meters - close to heaven!

The small hotel is unique and beautifull, it is surrounded by a lovely garden where you can sit and relax with a glass of beer or wine. The rooms are simple but designed with style and attention to details, in every corner of the public ares you can find antique collections of the owners, art,  travel magazines and art books. 
The owners Rita and Yiannis are lovely hosts, they helped us to plan trips in the area, gave recommendations for good tavernas, cook local and tasty food and were always helpful and kind.

Lovely place and great hospitality

My wife and I visited the hotel last week. We enjoyed every part of our stay: the lovely room with the balcony, the magical garden full of flowers and butterflies and the lovely owners.     We highly recommend it.

Hotel Porfyron

Yannis and Rita are the best hosts once could wish for. The venue is a very old house which has been renovated with providing the best comfort to guests possible.  Free Wi-fi is available in the dinning room (not sure about the rooms, ours was in the back and could not connect). Food is excellent and Rita is an expert in creating a huge variety of "liqueurs". Highly recommended.
