My stay here was in July 2012!
You can see that a good stay also does not get a top-class stay. But I remember it well. A special old lady serving guests, unusual cordiality, when asked where the church is here, just led me :) You usually get tips that are often inconsistent and here, despite the problems with agreement, a lot of determination is shown. Service, people in this hotel "make up" maybe not the best design. Human kindness can do a lot. I would recommend.

Pobyt w lipcu 2012!
Widać, że za niewygórowaną opłatę dostaje się też nie topowy pobyt. Ale ja wspominam dobrze. Szczególne starszą panią obsługującą gości, niezwykła serdeczność, na pytanie gdzie tu jest kościół po prostu mnie podprowadziła :)  Zwykle dostajesz wskazówki często niespójne a tu pomimo kłopotów z porozumieniem wykazana spora determinacja. Obsługa, ludzie w tym hotelu "nadrabiają" może nie najlepszy design. Ludzka życzliwość potrafi wiele zdziałać. Polecam.

This is one of the cheapest options in Athens.  The hotel is very basic. Wifi usually works.  It is easy enough to get around and get to the metro to see the sights.  Just kind of a sketchy neighborhood at night.

Cheap option if you don't mind the surroundings

Worst place I've ever stayed! 
Bathroom was dirty with stains in bath tub and toilet. Dried urine on toilet seat. The whole room smelled like stale cigarettes and was old and tired. Bad area with not much going for it. Wifi did not connect. Loud drunken teens staying in hostel.

Only pros were how close it is to Larissa station for the train to Kalambaka

The worst hotel experience I've ever had!

This hotel resembles a hostel and, by far one of the worst hostels I've seen!

Location feels like the slums!

Customer service was non-existent! Definitely false advertising with regards to their claim that their "Reception staff tirelessly provides excellent 24 hour attention".

The bed springs were protruding and the hotel's response was bad luck and what do you want me to do about it!?!

The lights in the room weren't working and again, the hotel's response was bad luck and what do you want me to do about it!?!

The hose from the tub to shower with was broken and unusable! Not surprisingly again, the hotel's response was bad luck and what do you want me to do about it!?!

The telephone in our room wasn't working! You couldn't even dial Reception when you needed them! 

Their Buffet Breakfast consisted of boiled eggs with grey/green yolks. Day or two old sliced rolls. Butter and jam and cordial which they displayed as OJ.

Although they advertise free wifi, this was also non-existent!

Definitely false advertising with regards to having a bar and restaurant! The bar was never open and neither was the restaurant, except for when they were serving their pathetic excuse of a buffet breakfast each morning!

A true reflection of the hotel rooms are 20 years older and more run down than the advertised photos on their website!

This hotel, staff and service gave us such a bad impression that we checked out early and got the hell out of Athens as soon as possible!

So if you would like a wonderful experience in Athens, don't stay at this hotel because it will deter you from ever wanting to return!

UNDESCRIBABLY TERRIBLE!!! LOOK FOR ANOTHER HOTEL OR EVEN HOSTEL!!!

Stayed at the Filoxenia hotel recently over three nights.  To be honest, the space itself is worth every cent if you are the budget traveller. The rooms are very spacious for two people! However, rooms are very basic and very tired (to be expected for under 20 euros a night).  As mentioned in the title, the hotel is essentially one step up from a hostel. Rooms are serviced everyday and fresh towels and sheet provided. We only attended the breakfast one morning as very basic, with only tea, coffee, bread, meat, cheese and cake served. Fantastic value however as this is included in the tariff and you are happy to eat these foods. Staff were friendly and very accommodating to our needs - organising an early morning cab for us to reach the ferry terminal. Location wise, the hotel is roughly situated a twenty minute walk from Athens main tourist 'hub'; Plaka, and the area may appear dodgy to some.  As a female, I would not have felt comfortable staying there alone. Upon returning to Athens, I will be booking accommodation in the Plaka area just to be amongst shopping and great restaurants. This said, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a tight budget.
