I stayed in the apartments for more that 2 weeks and I felt sorry I had to leave. I long for that place eversince I left it. Everything was more than I imagined.
When I passed by Kalamata, I was slightly dissapointed, since I was comparing thr surroundings with the islands of Greece. The rural setting was exaclty was I was hoping for, but the little towns we passed through looked differend than I expected. A little poor.
Anyway, when we left the road in Xarakopio and headed to the sea, the winding country road took us to an idyllic quiet, little and perfect place. 
The apartments are perfectly clean, shady, quiet, the only sound you hear are the cicades, and by night you can hear the waves. The hosts are friendly, willing to help you with everything you need and to answer any question you have. 
To get to the beach you have to pass thought the yard of a neighbour an it takes exacly 5 minutes to dive in the sea. The beach is a nice long stripe of fine sand, gently entering the sea, the waters are shallow and still.
At about 500 meters of a relaxing walk on the sand there is a tavern, although I highly reccommend the one in the village (Harakopio). I don’t know if it has a name, but, you will find it in the backyard of the church. They have live music and a new menu every friday night (they invite you to choose your favourite in the kitchen).
Going to the supermarket, the fish shop in the village or the local market they have during the weekend in the parking lot, having a coffee with the same locals early on a sunday morning, really makes you feel greek for a little while. Too little.
I can’t thank enough the host family for sharing with us their way of life (the holliday part of it).
