What I am going to narrate occurred in the first semester of 2022, but I think that the appropriate time to advise prospective travellers is now, for their 2023 reservations.  We had reserved well in advance rooms for our summer holiday, namely as early as February 2022, when the war in Ukraine had just begun, there was uncertainty for the future and prices were necessarily low ; we are experienced travellers and we well indicated the dates (mid-July) and the specific rooms of our reservation  (100 euros/room).  When the time approached, we had our ferry tickets issued and we wanted to confirm once more our reservation, things seemed to have changed : breakfast was not included and neither the dates nor the rooms were exactly what we had booked….  Of course, the owner alleged the contrary, but she was not unhappy to see us obliged to renounce to our holiday, since the prices had more than doubled and the people who replaced us had to pay approx.250 euros.  I do not insinuate that she deliberately orchestrated the whole thing, but let me finish this comment by repeating that, if you want to avoid bad surprises, you need to keep confirming all the details of your reservation….

Be aware : your reservation may not be honoured !

I chose this hotel through trip advisor and checked in on the 3rd of July 2022. Stayed there for 4 days and left with the greatest impressions. The room was very clean and and had perfect view of the bay area. The staff were accommodating and did the best they could. The beach is 5 steps away from the hotel entrance. Would definitely visit again next year!

Amazing beach resort

Lovely beachfront location for this hotel but I felt the cost of the room  was high for the facilities provided compared to other rooms we stayed in on our one month island hopping tour of the Western Cyclades. Fridge provided, but no welcome water or juice as we had had on other islands. Kettle provided with two cups & saucers. Two glasses provided. Room not cleaned daily and our floor became covered with dust and leaves as wind blew in from terrace. Wooden balustrade on  balcony had peeling paint and no washing line provided to dry clothes. 
Bed was comfortable with  soft pillows which provided good nights sleep. Plenty of hot water with small bottles of shower gel provided. Hairdryer provided. We were allowed a late check out at 1pm at no cost. Little use made of outside space in grounds of hotel which could have done with sunbeds for guests use. Overall a slight disappointment from pictures on website as it appeared the outside of the hotel could do with a bit of attention.

Beach front hotel in need of TLC

Great location, friendly staff and wonderful view of the bay area. The beach is right across the entrance. Our room was spacious, clean and had a large balcony. We enjoyed the variety of goodies at the breakfast buffet. Would definitely visit again!

— Would NOT recommend this place —
Arrived in the evening and the room seemed nice and clean.
However, few minutes later found out that there was sh*t in the toilet, obviously from someone else, and the towels had multiple grey and yellow stains.
Reported it immediately and she seemed to care about it and the cleaner came few minutes later.
After finishing the “cleaning” she brought again new towels.
Each new towel had again stains and the toilet had still some sh*t left and the cleaner did not do her job.
Upon questioning their excuse was the following:
— From the cleaner —
1. They have one cleaner.
2. Some clients clean the wheels of their luggage with the towels.
— From the owner of the hotel —
3. They wash and dry their towels at high temp and is expected to be like this according to them.
According to them they did not have any clean towels to replace them with.
My question to them was if they would accept such a state of the towels and toilet if they were in my place and she basically mentioned that they are not able to replace the existing towels.
— At an island where it’s considered to be high season full of tourists —
For what’s included
1. Cleaning awful
2. Management poor
3. Price that comes with everything too much
4. Way better options elsewhere with breakfast, swimming pools than having to deal with such a situation on your holidays.

Not a place to visit

Overall, I had a great experience with Aeolos; staff was very helpful, and the room was great. It had a large balcony and excellent view of the beach. The staff was the nicest staff I have ever encountered, especially Mr. Paul. They also were able to recommend places to get any type of meal that we needed. Miss the charm of the place. We'll definitely be back next year!

Great experience

Excellent property and very convenient to visit the beaches nearby by foot or boat. The owners are extremely pleasant and helpful. Property is clean and has a fantastic Cycladic charm. Props to Eddie the cute retriever in the garden!

Amazing

Clean and spacious rooms, very well equipped. No fuss check-in and check-out. Stepping through the lobby, i was struck by the beautiful and friendly reception area... Very welcoming atmosphere. The staff throughout the hotel were very professional and friendly. The No. 1 advantage of Aeolos is its location. Very close to the beach, it offers a spectacular view. Would love to be there again!

Lovely location, Excellent Services

Wonderfull room, facing the sea. Seems to have the sea at your feet!!! 
From the balcony you can see the “via lattea” we saw 11 shining star from here!
Our superior room is tidy and clean.

Stella, the host, has been extremely kind and warm!

We reccomand this place and this beautifull crew!! We hope to come here soon!

Charming Place in Folegandros

I'd like to share my experience so that other people don't go through the same hell. Folegandros is a beautiful island with lovely people. This is one exception. 

I booked the hotel for 3 nights via Booking.com. When I arrived, Stella, the manager said: "I have a better room for you with a bigger bed. It's an upgrade!" I said OK, thank you. "I'm going to cancel Booking.com reservation because it's a different room", she said. Two later in a phone conversation with Booking.com I realised it was a common scam: Stella cancelled the booking so that she doesn't pay commission to Booking.com. 

The hotel is very basic: no AC (good luck with that in August), not even a shower curtain in the bathroom so water goes everywhere. If you open the balcony door, it will be loud as most rooms of this corner hotel face two streets. 

Greek ferries run late so when I saw ferries arrive over an hour late twice, I became worried I would miss my flight home. I asked the hotel if I could please stay and pay for 2 nights instead of 3 given the circumstances. The day manager said "No problem, I understand", so I re-booked my ferry and booked a hotel on Santorini before my flight. 

When I came to pay the bill at Aeolos, Stella was on duty. She laughed into my face saying: "Of course you can leave after 2 nights, but you have to pay for 3." I pleaded with her for two hours that night and two hours the following morning but to no avail. I said: " You said it was OK and now you went back on your word. Why?" 

Because she had my card details through Booking.com, she just charged me for 3 nights. I called Booking.com but they could not help me because the booking was cancelled - no longer on their system (by the way, the bed was the same size, the room was a little bigger but it was no upgrade). 

The police got involved (I was crying and Stella didn't want a crying person in her front garden) but they could not help me either. They said it's between you and the hotel - maybe call the British Embassy? Yeah right... 

In the end, there was nothing I could do. I had a coffee at a nearby restaurant waiting for the ferry. I was upset and told them my story. They said I was not the first person tricked by "that woman". They said "Please write a review on Tripadvisor." and so I did.
