We stayed for a week 10-17 June and found these apartments excellent and good value. They are in a good position for the beach 2 mins and Stalis where there are many beachside restaurants and bars. They are modern and spotlessly clean. We had a 1 bed on 1st floor with nice views. They had everything that you needed for snacks & kettle & fridge, with free WIFI that worked everywhere.
 Also the breakfasts were excellent. The owners are so helpfull and friendly. We would definitely return to Villa Stella. Also the weather was great. 

Villa Stella Stalis

We arrived at our apartment at around 2am and was greeted by a man who called himself Michael and showed us to our room. In the morning we saw the view from our apartment which was brilliant, the complex was so traditional with shutters across the windows and old doors with a wooden bolt and lock for security. The complex was surrounded by overhanging bougainvillea.The hotel has two resident dogs called rags and freak. If you need to visit the main town of Hersonissos you need to walk down a steep hill for about 15 minutes, ok on the way down bit much on the return however the nearest supermarket is there and is a Spar shop. This is also where you will catch the nearest bus, if you would like to visit nice beaches you will need to stand near to the Spar shop it costs 1 Euro 60 one way and it seams that is that is the standard price where ever you go. Talking of beaches Malia Beach is gorgeous you can either get off at Malia centre or malia beach stops are 33 or 36 either beach you get off and need to walk for around 20 minutes if you get off at 33 you can go to sun beach brilliant for kids it has a lovely rock pool and some swimming pools with slides.If you want a cheap alcoholic drink and food go to Acropolis restaurant waterside view in Hersonissos it costs 2 Euro for a large beer and 3 Euro for a pina colado soft drinks are 2.50 Euro the meals are good also, when you arrive they give you a free plate of grapes and nuts and also a shot glass of Raki service is brilliant and next to the beach. In the apartments you do not have a kettle, you have a hob and crockery etc. the rooms are cleaned every two days the negative is the bathroom floor usually gets flooded as the shower curtain only covers half way down. As in lots of countries toilet paper is not permitted to flush use of bins only and if you have sensitive skin mossies are rife. The hotel has two swimming pools a smaller one with a infant pool and the other on the upper deck deeper, however no matter how hot it is the water stays cold even in the higher 30 degrees. The down side there is no entertainment to speak of at the hotel there is a bar area. The nearest bar is up the hill or down the hill there is two Irish bars which has sky for sports and good Craic, lots of souvenir shops and also plenty of fish tanks if you want the fish to nibble your feet. from as little as 5 Euro's. The main strip of Hersonissos has lots of bars shops and food outlets you must try a chicken kebab from Pitta point never had one with salad and chips before and for 3.50 bargain.

Cretian experience

What a wonderful country inn.   We had set out inland on Crete to explore the sights and went online on the internet and found this quaint, fully updated inn and took a chance.  Although we had booked the room in the morning, the owner obviously couldn't contact us to find our our arrival time.   We arrived about 5PM and found the place locked up and made some inquiries at a neghboring gift shop who contacted the owner in Hamia (about 30Kms away).     We waited and shortly, the owner's son arrived and let us into the room.   The inn only has four rooms, but the room we were given on the first floor was out of this world.  fully modernized inside with full amenities, clean and most comfortable.    What a great place.

The town is very small, with a church, a taverna, a gift shop and not much else, but the quaintness of the village and this inn was the highlight of our trip.  (Okay the whole island is fantastic, but this place was outstanding).

We were sorry we only had the one night there because, the peacefulness and tranquility was worth the stay.   The Inn is very close to the only freshwater lake on the island, but apparently the food at the village taverna is better than those at the lake.

Anyways, don't be deterred by the small size of this place, it is well worth the drive to stay in a rustic setting albeit with all the conveniences supplied.    My hats off to the owners.
