Greco Hotel was beautiful and had an outside courtyard where you had your complimentary breakfast. You could also sit there any time of the day and enjoy the lovely gardens around the table and chairs. We had a very nice room, spacious and bright. The breakfast was a feast!

Highly recommend the Greco Hotel on Hydra Greece

Hotel Greco in Hydra, Greece, is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel features a beautiful outdoor sitting area adorned with vibrant flowers and a lovely garden, creating a serene and picturesque setting. Each morning, we enjoyed a great breakfast that set the perfect tone for the day. Highly recommended for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Beautiful Outdoor sitting area

Visited Hydra on a day trip and having got lost in the back alleys found myself caught out. Expecting typical greek hospitality, asked if I could use the facilities only to be told an outright "no". I'd have been more than happy to pay a small sum but quite shocked by the reception. Not something I have come across anywhere else in Greece.

Don't expect typical Greek hospitality.

Room was average but the courtyard in front is great for reading, chatting, internet. Fun to sit and watch school kids walk by or horses carrying supplies or luggage. Good restaurant across the street allows you to avoid tourist crowds at the harbor. Far enough up the road, however, so you don’t get much “traffic.”

Greco hotel really fit our needs, centrally located, near the port, up no steps. Comfortable clean room with extremely high ceiling. Good AC and decent WiFi. The owner helped us get a reservation at a busy nearby restaurant. Would definitely recommend.

Great location good service

A cozy place about 5 blocks from the harbor - and not up any hills!  The included breakfast spread is huge and superlative. The room was large and clear and simple - a tad plain but at this price a great bargain.

We arrived at the lovely looking El Greco straight off the ferry at 7pm. Beautiful flowers in the outside breakfast area. Me and two small kids booked to share a double room. (@€120 per night for the extra 3-year-old child sharing the double bed).

TV did not work, and disappointed by the dark room with view of a wall & a bathroom with a tiny shower unit where the curtain sticks to you. But kids starving so we went straight out for dinner. Back to hotel, kids needing to sleep - air con did not work. After a sticky night, we were looking forward to breakfast but were bitten to death by mosquitoes! Breakfast was fine - a buffet of cold bits and eggs. Luckily had lots of mosquito repellent.

We asked the woman to look at the TV and air-con. With the help of her son on the phone she fixed them, implying I had 'touched' the ancient air-con unit. But it worked so all good. The next night we were disturbed by the toilet cistern trickling constantly. Told the woman and she said it’s no problem her son would fix it. Got back that evening happy to see it fixed - but a big sign on the push button saying "PUSH ONLY". The next morning, we walked past a cockroach running up the corridor.

I asked for discount at checkout and the woman exploded saying everything had been 'no problem' - Air-con fixed, TV fixed, that I had broken the toilet, the cockroach had 'just come from outside' - madness! Then she started dramatically saying 'OK don't pay anything!" I nonetheless paid €300 for our 3-night stay (apart from the coakroach the rooms were very clean) and left, while she continued saying 'she'd never had a single complaint in twenty years' and that I was 'an awful person'. It was so upsetting. I could have forgiven it all and found it funny if she'd just been nice and given a reasonable discount. But telling me it was all my fault!!!

To top it all off, in the town square her adult son came up to me on my own with the kids, very angrily saying his mother told him we'd tried to leave without paying! He would not listen, talking over me, scaring my kids until I had to walk off. I'm sorry for him as he had been so nice before - shame he believed his mad mother.  I was shaking, and we left the town with such a bad feeling from that treatment.

Terrible

We arrived at this admittedly nice hotel, with a beautiful garden outside, just after 7 pm in the evening. Our group was two adults, three kids (3,4,6) and we had two double rooms. We were greeted by the owner lady whispering. Why is she whispering i wondered? She asked our kids to be quiet the second they walked in the door, because "people are sleeping" ...ahm what? It was dinner time. Also kids were already quiet. The owner proceeded to scold us and our kids day and night basically. Don't sit at this table for breakfast use the other one, don't this, don't that, if I wanted to go on vacation with quirky intolerant aunt Mary i probably could and i wouldn't been paying her 120eu a night. ( Way over her normal rate btw, because KIDS). I don't have any issues with a hotel wanting to spare themselves the kids trouble. Believe me, I get it. But to accept kids, overcharge for it and then proceed to make the mother's life a living hell on vacation. Now that, is out of order. Other than that, the place is dated and in need of renovation and the breakfast is meh.

Not worth it

Stayed here as part of a Rick Steve's tour. Wonderful breakfasts, nice rooms, attentive staff. Perfect Greek getaway! Outside the busyness of Hydra town, but just a short walk up from the water. lovely courtyard for a relaxing snack.. flowers were delightful. Overall wonderful Greek hospitality!

Great little gem

Beautifully charming hotel. Maria and all the staff were wonderful. Great location, 5 mins walk from the port. Really lovely gardens and courtyard for breakfast. Free WiFi. We had a fabulous stay for 4 nights. I also accidentally left my phone in the safe and only realised when I got back to the UK. Maria very kindly posted the phone back to me! Would definitely recommend.
