Pros:
- location, location, location! Steps off the main promenade of Hydra with a multitude of restaurants, shops and a vibrant boating industry.
- well appointed suite with boutique bathroom/shower amenities,  thick, embroidered towels, gourmet coffee maker and pods (no refills tho). 
**Cons**:
- We were told "we could check in anytime" and someone would be there at reception to greet us. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and our room wasn't ready and staff didn't speak English.
- We didn't get the suite we booked as shown on the app. We messaged "Petros", the host, to verify we would get the suite pictured after booking as others had commented they did not get the pictured suite either. He stated something about the color scheme of the room and it sounded like the picture so we thought we would get it. We instead got a dark (1 window in the entire place) smaller suite that was inferior. No view from the suite at all.
- the first night the A/C did not work well (actually, the entire stay) - the vent pointed down so froze the first floor and it was sweltering hot in the loft!
- We told Petros this the next morning and his immediate, defensive answer was, "we had a very hot Summer and you are the first person to complain about it"! (So, I am a liar, basically). He said he would "check it" and then message me. He did and stated we didn't have the A/C on the right setting and he fixed it. When we checked it, it was the same exact settings we had it on (he actually made it 3' warmer)!
- After our very uncomfortable first night, we stated that we wanted him to resolve our issues, including a better suite. He replied he could move us to a larger suite up the road. We agreed and said we would move at 6 p.m. as we had just settled in at a private beach resort that we took a ferry to and paid $160€ for all day. His response was, "you need to move now or we can't do it" 😳. We stayed where we were and hoped for the best. We did insist he put a fan in the loft and he did - it made it somewhat bearable, but A/C was still not "cold".
- the loft had very low rafters and we hit our heads constantly (2-3x daily). Stairs to and from loft were steep, narrow and very dangerous.
- the bathroom was super tiny and the shower water rushed accross the entire floor (on purpose). The floor and bath mat were constantly soaked wet the entire time (bizarre).
- the path leading to the Airbnb had dog poop all over it the 2nd day - it remained like that our entire stay. We literally had to avoid stepping in it like a "minefield" daily. Very gross (and Petros, host, walked the same path daily - but no one cleaned it up)!!
- overall, our host showed a lack of friendliness, honest concern, or motivation to ensure our "complete satisfaction" with our stay. We were very surprised with his gruff, unfriendly demeanor as a supposed "Super Host" (we are too in the US, BTW)! We would NOT recommend this property due to these many reasons.

Horrible Host and property almost ruined our stay!

Portadelmare Suites was one of the most wholesome and wondrous times away I ever been on.
The local family run a split level terraced property  5 seconds walk from the harbour and is a true hidden gem. It boasts 5 levels built into the hillside that offers discreet niche vantage points that have stunning views of the harbour and Hydra town. Beautiful sunsets and moonscapes from the top levels at day and night meant I spent a lot time chilling in this gorgeous space 
The rooms are each individually crafted and resemble a boutique homely feel, lovingly cared and cleaned for evryday
Petrous and his adorable family are both charming and accommodating. I have been recommending this family's destination to all those closest to me and am blessed to call it "home from home" in Hydra Town

My girlfriends and I stayed here just one night during our trip to Greece, and I'm regretting that we waited til the end of our trip to come here! If I'd had time, I would have stayed a few more days!

Pedros was very hospitable and the rooms and garden area are charming, well-appointed and just overall beautiful! If I ever make my way back to Hydra, I will stay here again and for longer!

Charming hotel steps from the harbor!

Once of the most gorgeous islands in Greece and by far one of the best boutique hotels in all of Europe! I’ve stayed there twice along with the private homes villa sunset and each Time the service, the view, the hotel room decor, the amenities are perfect. Petros, the owner, makes your entire trip on this special island of Hydra outstanding. There is also a small gym, sauna and gorgeous rooftop deck to have drinks overlooking the harbor at sunset! Hydra is magical with zero cars and many great restaurants but it’s Petros kindness and personality that make Hydra a very special place to visit!

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN HYDRA

Hydra is truly a magical place and staying at Portadelmare is one of the best ways to experience it. I highly recommend staying here not only for the wonderful atmosphere, but for the kind people and delicious food. The rooms were fun and unique and the amenities/views were gorgeous. This place is great and Petros is a wonderful owner.

Stay here when in Hydra!

Petros is the perfect host: kind and helpful 24/h. The suite is amazing, comfortable and clean, the location super central. The hydromassage on the veranda is wonderful. Ciao Petros, we will definitely come back!! Ilaria & Marco

Best place in Hydra!! 

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and it's on such a quaint, lovely island. We loved our stay at Portadelmare and meeting Peter.  It just has 4 rooms/suites and our family stayed in 2 of them.  Both were decorated so lovely with nice touches!  The property itself made our stay in Hydra even better with it's multi-level patio, rooftop jacuzzi, and a beautiful view of the harbor and town.  We stayed for 4 days and I could've stayed another week or more!

I could stay here forever!

Absolutely stunning!  Petre was kind and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful. Loved the shared spaces! And our great neighbors we met. Fantastic location. Highly recommend!  The maid even did our laundry for a small fee.

Loved it!

Hydra is a magical place and accommodation options are not plentiful. Portadelmar is a recently renovated guest house of four apartments that offer quality lodgings if not a little cramped. You get a little kitchenette, a small living area and a loft bedroom with very low ceiling height (watch out all you tall guys).

Outside there is a lovely communal terrace with plenty of room for everyone and with great views over the port. (see pic). Also be aware that the entrance stairs are very steep so able bodied guests are better placed. 

Overall a place genuinely worth considering if you plan to stay in Hydra.

Cute and quirky 

Based on the reviews I was expecting a lot from Portadelmare. After a quick walk from the ferry drop off we were met by the owner, and shown to the premises not far away but up some steep steps. The owner introduced the maid, but that was the first and last time we saw management at the property itself. With a pleasant decor the suite would be suitable for a couple and two (small) children not for 4 adults as listed. The stairs were steep and narrow to the two single beds up top, bathroom was quite big yet there was no space to put toiletries etc especially not for a group of adults, the sink was tiny and shower moldy as noted by other guests. The main room consisted of the a double bed, TV, aircon, kitchette, there wasn't room to sit comfortably together. I didn't check out the hot tub because it was occupied by other guests, and there was no view to speak of.
