Our second visit and very enjoyable again. We were well looked after and our room with spacious terrace was cleaned daily and towels replaced daily too.
The ladies are pleasant but unobtrusive. This well located accommodation is ideal and unpretentious.

A pleasant little gem!

On my 4th visit in Ios I came across this little gem.. I was traveling alone and wanted to find a nice place to stay. I hit bull's eye!!! It's a small pension on the port run by an amazing woman, Mrs Katerina. I felt at home immediately! She's one of the most hospitable people I've ever met! A kind , mother-like figure who attended my every need and made my stay amazing. The room was very comfortable and squeaky clean and right on the port , which is the place to be if you are looking for relaxation and rest! The breakfast was homemade and incredibly tasty. I found out that the word "avra" in Greek means aura and I have to say , the aura of that place is incredible!!!!! I'm definitely looking forward to going back !! I totally recommend it to everyone who wants to experience what actual greek hospitality is all about !! 

Best stay ever!!!!

After a three year gap, we returned to the Avra Pension.  It is still just as good as before.  Perfect location near the port amenities, but set back enough to be quiet.  The owner Katerina is so friendly.  And her morning breakfasts remain wonderful - made on the spot for you. This pension is excellent value for money.  Although the rooms are small, they are maintained daily, and are very clean.  And the beds are extremely comfortable.  Staying at the port, there is a regular bus service to both the chora (village) and Milapota (the huge beach).  And there are steps which mean you can walk up to the village in less than 20 minutes without using the roads.    This is the place to stay on Ios.

The Friendliest Place

The facility is run by an eighty-year-old, very handsome, English-speaking woman who gave us Ios honey at the onset. Very neat room, magnolia bathroom, with shower box, very nice. Frigor, air conditioned, terraced with white stands, table and seats. Breakfast included in the living room, good and genuine local products, simple, yurt with fruit, cake, or toast, cappuccino or coffee, marmalades and bread. Not too abundant but complete.

He will be retired

The structure is very nice, clean and well maintained. The solution is very convenient in a more private room than the center of the island. The area of the Roman port is rich in services that allow you to reach the restaurants and bars even on foot. The camerq is complete with all services including phon and refrigerator. The cleaning and changing of laundry is daily. The breakfast is included and is very rich and includes several solutions with products of its own production as well as bread, marmalades and various sweets. The owner is very kind and available. We will definitely return!!!

It was a great experience!

We enjoyed our few days here.  With a warm welcome from the excellent host we had a very comfortable room with all necessary facilities. The accommodation, whilst initially having a slightly older style appearance, has been carefully updated to provide all that is needed in a well located, quiet, position close to the port, with easy access to the Chora and other parts of the Island.
Breakfast was good and served on the terrace by a very pleasant member of staff.
The port of Ios has all one needs for a good stay, with sufficient tavernas and shops and a decent beach.
Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent traditional Greek accommodation

All good!!! Accommodation, cleaning, attention to detail, breakfast. Katerina is a great guest for kindness and availability. Excellent and abundant breakfasts are served in the cool and cozy patio. All the rooms have outdoor terrace. The location is not in the front row on the seas, but it enjoys tranquility and is still close to the sea. If you go to IOS you absolutely have to go to Katerina!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

New stay at Avra Pension in the port of Gialos in Ios. Still as pleasant welcome from Katerina who manages this guesthouse and welcomes you kindly. Simple room with impeccable cleanliness, air conditioning and balcony or terrace for most rooms. Absolutely quiet price exceptional. Lunch on top but do not hesitate to take it, price ratio unbeatable quality (Orange juice, fresh fruit salad, homemade cake...) An address to remember.

In the beautiful port of Yalos, in the quiet of the boiling Chora a little higher up, Ketherina welcomes you to this super boarding house, she speaks impeccable French, she and her staff are charming, breakfast is delicious (only €6 per person), an address you should not miss!

That's a great address.

I'd recommend it to Greek and essential lovers. I didn't enjoy breakfast but it could be a convenient solution considering that all the rooms have a balcony/terrace.
