Hotel staff are extremely rude, it seems as they they only want your money. No help, wrong information, the worst hotel in Greece we have stayed! I’m not sure how they are 5 stars more like 1 star……..

Stay away

Montana when it opened in the '90s, became an instant hit, as it was one of the few winter resorts in Greece, providing unique services, at the time. Now, although dated and kind of worn, it retains its charm.

We had the chance to visit it on a school excursion in autumn, with the hotel almost completely occupied by our group. Despite the challenging conditions, the hotel staff was, in all circumstances, attentive, polite and eager to assist and the hotel comfortable enough to host us, with spacious, welcoming and charmingly old-fashioned public areas.
The indoor pool is worth a visit and the playground managed to keep the kids busy -at least for a while.

The rooms, however, show their age, from the uncomfortable beds to the gloomy furniture and carpets. On the bright side, the bathrooms were in good shape, as they had been renovated in a conservative but elegant way.

The breakfast was hearty, comprising all the standard options and a few local specialties. We had also the chance to have buffet lunch and dinner, which, despite the broad options, were rather average and easily forgotten.

Overall, it was a smooth stay, considering the special conditions. But surely the hotel needs an extensive renovation to stand up to its reputation and become, once more, a point of reference in one of the most exciting and intriguing mountain areas in Greece.

Charming, despite its age

The hotel is very bad.It is suppose to a 5 star hotel but actually is a 1 star hotel.All the hotel is terrible designed. The meals (brekfast,lunch and dining) were very poor. The room has 2 floor but the stair had not railings. I have travel a lot all over the world this was the worst hotel I have ever been to. A dig disappointment 


Do not go to this hotel

I stayed at this hotel 7 years a go and i remembered it being very nice so i decided to book it again. It was a disgrace, not sure where it gets its stars from and from who? Service was terrible no menus in the restaurant - no staff in the restaurant- rooms had a terrible smell-someone crisps in my bedsheets. It was just very bad. It reminded me of an old haunted manor. Something left vacant for years. The evening food and breakfast was average.

A Big disappointment

Very nice location, hospitable environment and good Value for service. The staff is kind and smiley. All the covid regulations are met. 
Most importantly we had a great family time and we recommend a stay!

Great location!

We went for a night stay as we were on our way for summer vacations around Greece.
Our experience was really bad. 
The air condition of our room didn’t work and it was very hot and even though we contacted the reception to change the room they didn’t. There was a ceiling fan but it was noisy and didn’t do much for the summer heat. 
The food was basic and average and the breakfast very poor.
The swimming pool was not working, they told us there was a problem also there. The small playground for children was also out of order.
The hotel itself is old, needs lots of restoration and improvements. Maybe when it was opened 30 years ago it was a 5 star hotel but now it is not even 1 star for what it offers. It seems abandoned and in a bad shape. 
Very expensive stay and really bad experience. 
I travel a lot inside and outside Greece and this was one of my worst experiences.

Terrible stay

Hospitable hotel, built in a great mountain scenery, with excellent view!
The room was large, very clean, very warm with a garden veranda where the children played with the snow. Healthy breakfast and very good dinner. The children loved the playground and there was a different children's movie every afternoon!! Polite staff.
I strongly recommend it for winter family vacations!!!

Great hotel for family vacations

We first came here 20 years ago when it was a real 5-star spa hotel, one that honoured its glossy brochure. Today the infrastructure and glorious view is still there but alas, under the present poor management of Mr Platisit, it has become a poor shadow of its former glory yet still trading on its now misleading glossy on-line brochure.  " I never read Tripadvisor", he claimed. Today he has openly chosen to let his hotel be run by tiny children, pampering to their every whim and fancy. Maybe for economic reasons because the nearby Prossios valley now boasts two theme parks and many pony clubs for kids, bringing waves of parents in 4x4s with tiny tots at weekends and holidays. So, under his policy one can say it is now no more than a kindergarten with a view. Every aspect of the hotel has accordingly changed to favour small children, starting with a kids playground right outside the front door.  Unless one likes small children by the hundred, this is no longer a hotel for you.  With his open doors policy, all areas inside have rampaging, screaming kids meaning they can romp in the corridors, in the card playing rooms, playing with water pistols in the piano bar ( even late at night ), in the reading rooms, using sofas as trampolines,  in the restaurant etc. To escape this mayhem one must retreat to one’s room. The kids run this hotel. Even the Health Spa has become a theme park for kids. Health is not a word we would use to describe it.  There is one beautician present, but I would not agree to any use of the word “relaxation”. The swimming pool, gym and massage area is pierced by the screams of running, playing kids. And the pungent smell of chlorine is overpowering, no doubt errantly used to repeatedly dose the milky white swimming pool. There were so many kids in it that it had waves! The apparatus in the gym is old, run-down and decrepit. As for the stodgy buffet food, he has adopted a quite disgusting evening dinner for adults. His servers stand by and watch as hundreds of tiny fingers paw over the fare. And the bland and unimaginative choice of food again reflecting Mr Platis' policy. We lost count of his variations of “kiddy food”, from noodles with cheese, noodles with bits of breakfast sausage, rice with corn, corn with tinned tuna,  corn with noodles, burgers with minced yesterday's meatballs, soup with yesterday's chicken and so on. The bright coloured jellies for kids were obviously the biggest hit.  Breakfast was a similar affair. The variations on cold eggs were quite unforgivable. When asked why he had misled his guests who were not accompanying small children, he simply shrugged, "I am not running a library", he said. In which case he should state the true reality of his hotel. Under his management policy, it is now just a kindergarten with a view and sadly nothing like the promises made by the on-line pictures! We were glad to leave and in need of a holiday!

BEWARE; a very badly managed kindergarten with a view.

We paid a two days visit taking friends academics on a short respite -touch and go in Euritania. First the place is glorious, pithy, and the food can be too (Choriatiko in Mikro Chorio e.g.). The Hotel a 1990's jewel that has sliced downwards since (we paid a visit in 1996 too) retains the structural and locational properties. It is well out of town perched on route to the ski centre. Interesting summarise and spring wise too. At present conferential and group visits occupy it rather that discerning strollers. The lady at the reception (Ms. Voula) was exquisite helpful, articulate, informed and spirited 5* for her. Possibly under- maintained and with perforated luxury facilities which we did not need anyway (bar, restaurant for example).  Swimming pool an advantage.

Formerly glorious, still interesting

Great View Hotel, with a gym, indoors hall, swimming pool (indoors & outdoors), indoors parking. Friendlly personell, special variety of testefuull food and a healthy breakfast. Internet connection for the most part of the hotel.
