What can I say about Villa Marina, its basic and clean and bang smack in the centre of the resort. Great air con free of charge also free WiFi. The place has a couple of comedy features which did give me a giggle. The shower could have done with a full length curtain and something to hang the shower head on, but it did produce copious amount of hot water so all was fine by me. Also the kitchenette was just out of toys r us but you could knock up eggs and bacon so no real worries there. The room was massive and had possibly the best white sheets I have ever slept on
which were changed once in the week even on the spare bed.
If your after a comfy bed to lay your head on and want convenience and value I would look no further. Well done Villa Marina I will return. thanks for having me. 

Great Budget Accommodation 

Booked this studio apartment after being let down elsewhere in Skala.  It was exactly as we expected, basic traditional Greek accommodation in the centre of town, a few steps from the Main Street.  Very clean and the bedding and towels were changed every third day. And the air conditioning worked, without being noisy at night. Kitchen just about adequate for making breakfast, a drop down shelf would have made life easier as you have to juggle the electric kettle and toaster to find room to use them safely.

For 30€ per night, you really can’t expect 5* luxury. We got what we wanted ie somewhere clean and quiet without paying the earth, after all this is Greece and you only sleep there! 

 Note that the  Marina has nothing to do with the Galeri taverna underneath it, nevertheless the latter gives a 10% discount to residents. On arrival you may be lucky enough to find Dimitri on the front desk, if not he puts a notice up for you as to room access.

Value for money

This place was small. Now i know we booked an appartment but we had one room with a bathroom and balcony coming off either side.  The room had a double bed with a wardrobe, sink with hob, fridge and dresser. Lots of shuffling round my partner when we needed to pass eachother at the end of the bed. Room was not cleaned for four days and we showered everyday so the towels and sheets got dirty and we nearly ran out of loo roll! Manager was never really around so couldn't ask about anything. He did say when we arrived that the wifi was being fixed but when it was fixed it was very hit and miss and we stayed in room 29. Tbh this wasn't a bad thing! Tv is all in Greek but what would you expect in greece ha ha! Shower was alright, it worked but there was no holder for it so you have to physically hold it above your own head, the cubicle is tiny so the bathroom ended up being a wet room! Bed was a horrible spring mattress and you felt every spring! Like i said cheap but not cheerful! This place is smack bang in the middle of Skala so that is a bonus and the resturant (which is seperate) below, is fantastic!

Cheap but not cheerful

This is an older style building which hasn't been renovated for a while..
The positives:
The price!!
The bedlinen was clean, and we got our rooms cleaned after 3 nights of a 5 night stay.
The location..walking distance to the beach and in the middle of town.

The negatives:
Bad wifi, which they were in the process of getting fixed.
Bad TV signal, at times it would work, at others not.
Older style building with unattractive furnishings etc

If you are on a budget, this place is great, clean and safe, and I would recommend it..
If you are looking for luxury..look elsewhere

You get what you pay for!

Nice enough rooms but for the whole week we had no Wifi, no TV and our rooms were not cleaned once. When speaking to the manager, he was very defensive and somewhat argumentative as we asked him to fix the technical difficulties. When asking for a room clean and a late checkout, we were rudely met with an abusive tone and no help at all after he said that he changed booking.com the night before - with no regard to existing clients. If booking through this website please be aware that nothing on the page is guaranteed and if questioned you may be met with a rude and abnoxious host as we were. Although the rooms are in a great location, with a fantastic restaurant below, do not be fooled by the description of the apartments as they will be sure to let you down and subsequently rip you off. Skala however is a lovely place full of things to do, Mounda beach hotel especially! So even though this experience was dampened by these apartments, the island will surely entice me back. 

Could be better.

We booked three nights at villa marina apartments but could only tolerate two, although we loved Skala itself. We are going against most reviews here but I'm not a moaner usually but we had room 28 and I'm just going to reel off the issues rather than 'harp on' air con didn't function correctly only blew warm air (in a hot room not nice, intolerable) when was it last serviced ! or looked at. Returning to room the missus pulled the top sheet back off bed and insect was running around on the main bedsheet, not some tiny thing either - so I got rid of it but it made her feel dirty having to sleep in it, there was only a cleaner around at certain times whose English was poor so I had to ask her how am I going to pay the owner !, that was hard work but I said I'd call the owner. Tv lost signal if trying to catch the news, internet exactly the same 'when you could stand being in the room that is ?. The room was cluttered and not that clean esp fridge, a lot of mosquitoes prevalent. We were going to leave after one night but after two 'that was it' I had one eye on keeping the warm air con on, cos it kept turning itself off during the night !!, I turned it back on six separate times and the missus did it twice and one eye on the mozzies cos we were butchered !, I should of known better than booking a yha type of room for under £100 but messed up, should of gone bigger budget with some nice beach hotels in Skala. Called the owner 'Marina (the irony) and said I'm leaving early, tbh she was a nice lady who kept saying she couldn't refund me the third nights fee because the hotel company would charge her 15% !, that only worked out at £4.50.... still a mark up off approx £23 for the gaff itself, still that's the way it is, and as for sea view included, look at the photo... its behind them trees in the distance. Sorry but it's a big No from us.
