We had 11 nights in Kefalonia with quite a bit of travelling the island by car. Our main accommodation for the 11 nights let us down with a late check out after advising we could move to another vacant room. I searched Poros House Hotel as a cost effective option for a room for the day and it didn't let us down. We booked at 10am and arrived for 11am and the owners had the room ready for us so we could relax on our last day before a 10pm flight. The owner/s were very friendly and accomdating and we both wish we could stay longer in the relaxed village of Poros. When we return to Kefalonia we will be sure to have more time at this hotel. 

Room for a day

Angelo and Anna welcome guests like family.  The situation is perfect with the sounds of lapping waves putting you to sleep at night if you sleep with doors open. We stayed in Room 17 which had 2 bedrooms, 1 with aircon and double bed - room faces mountain and other faces the bay, 2 single beds and fan, no aircon.  The bathroom is a wet room with hand held shower, hook for shower to be overhead would be great.  Linen is white cotton, clean and fresh. Kitchen  area has wash up facility, 1 plate stove, kettle and fridge.  Why cook when you have a choice of fabulous tavernas at the bottom of the steps.  We were a little disappointed     in Fotis but highly recommend Taverna Agrapidos food and view, Syeki Grill where nothing is too much trouble, Dionysos and think the last one was called Hello Bello which had delicious fare.  All on seafront and charming.  I would highly recommend it as it was very reasonable and well situated.  Poros is laid back and not a high end resort but has a stunning beach to the far left with umbrellas and loungers.  Supermarket 10 steps from hotel has drinks, yogurt, fresh fruit etc.  Lovely gift shop and generally prices lower than Skala, Lourdata etc

Excellent value for money, basic and clean, why would you need more

A big thank you to Angleo and Anna, for making our stay in Kefalonia memorable.  A great base for traveling the island. Poros is relaxed, and not commercialized. The beach is a minute walk from the hotel and the central restaurants and tavernas 5 minutes.  Will definitely go back.

Excellent Hospitality

One of the most basic hotels i have ever been.
But clean and well located. In my point of view, good for 2-3 days but no more.
Very poor breakfast.
A big advantage, supermarkets and restaurants a few minutes distance.

Basic and simple

2nd visit to poros house and again Greek hospitality at its very best. 
Received like long lost friends by Angelo and Anna. They really can not do enough for you. 
This time we stayed 4 nights initially then got the ferry from Sami to Ithaca for 4 nights then returned to poros house for our last 3 nights, island hopping, 30 years late!
We love poros, relaxed, chilled, reasonably priced tavernas and no tour companies. 
If you want to sample real Greece and not an artificial version that the resorts give you, then this is your place! 

Perfect 

Very warm welcome from Angelo who was waiting for us till late as we have been arriving late to the hotel due to ferry crossing from Zante. Basic, clean and compact rooms, but we didn't require anything more than that when on holiday. Mr Angelo and his wife very friendly always ready to help. Will deffently come back there next year as we fell in love with cephalonia and Poros as it's fairy quiet than overcrowded and loud Scala. 
Poros House hotel have VERY reasonable prices plus basic breakfast is included. In every room there is small fridge.


Great place

I booked this low cost room the day before from Zante x visit x two days Cephalonia and stay one night in this hotel. I immediately found a lot of courtesy and availability from the owner of the hotel welcoming us despite the excellent price with an early check-out a checkout the next day kindly postponed and advising me where to eat and rent the car. The very smiling wife very kindly for breakfast.

My wife and I were very satisfied to spend the first week of September in this family-run place. Anna and Angelo (the owners, husband and wife) are very hospitable. Very clean, double bedroom, fridge, TV and air conditioner, bathroom with shower, terrace with sea view. I recommend it to all those looking for an economical solution to stay overnight, have breakfast and go around the island.

Good for quality/price

We start from the bed: we get settled in a second building, next to the main body, we immediately notice that the bed does not have a real network, so much so that every time you wash it, you get it from improvised wooden bars. something you never see, unworthy of a host. More than once we found ourselves on the ground. The next day we were moved to another room, but the standard was the same. the bathroom: there is no shower and bidet in the bathroom. There is only a minimum, very close to the water, so that every time you wash it, you get the tail. a disgusting and absolutely unhygienic thing. also, in the bathroom you create a small pool of water that flows out to the floor, with the quality of the dirty bread that the bathroom looks like is dirty.

To be Avoided

A small guesthouse with a nice sea view. A bad breakfast to avoid (the lady touched the bread with her hands to tell us to eat it) bad bread and packaged marmalades. The clean room and with a nice balcony with sea view (in Poros almost all hotels are sea view or communqe is very common). In the room a small refrigerator with clean water.in tribute and this we very much appreciated. The managers do not know how to give you information about anything. The village is small has only one beach and in the evening there is little or nothing to do. It is worth going to Poros because it is cheap (we have spent 38 euros per night) and because with the car you can reach many beaches.
