The hosts are so friendly and helpful.
The room was clean and tidy, we knew after previous reviews there was a charge for the air conditioning wish was a bit steep but we felt we needed it.
The bar was great with drinks reasonably priced, we didn't eat there but other guests did.
It is a fantastic location for the town with an easy walk compared with other hotels.
I would thoroughly recommend and we loved Kefalonia and will come back

Great location and fantastic hosts

I came back from these apartments 2 weeks ago, and am missing it already. I picked these apartments from a shortlist of about 9, and really feel I made the right choice. I arrived in the middle of the night, very tired after a long, quite stressful journey, and I was offered a bottle of water, which I gratefully accepted.

The standard of accommodation was basic, but clean, and had everything I needed. The only problem was that I woke up during the night and saw flashing, and thought maybe it was a smoke alarm, but realised it was the light bulb in the ceiling light.

I immediately reported this problem as I suffer from migraines, and it was rectified straight away. I cannot express my gratitude to the staff enough for this, as usually when I report something, it takes 2-3 days to rectify the problem.

I had a fantastic week, and did a lot of swimming in the pool, which was just down the steps from my apartment, number 2, which had a large terrace in the front, where I was often greeted by the local cats, some of whom became very friendly when I was sitting outside in the early evening.

The place is clean, staff friendly, and just a couple of minutes walk from the main street in Skala, and 10 minutes or so to the beach. In the opposite direction, you go up the road into deep countryside.

I am looking forward to returning there very soon!

Friendly place with lots of lovely cats!

Just returned home after a fantastic 7 night stay here this is a lovely small family run place and suited me perfectly as a solo traveller and these are the kind of places I look for when booking.
The other guests there were very friendly and would always have a conversation with you which was very nice being on my own I met some lovely people there.
Effie who runs the place works really hard day and  night and will always chat to you no matter how busy she is a really friendly girl and her knowledge of skala and kefalonia is amazing.
The rooms are cleaned daily and towels and sheets are changed regularly and the bar and pool area are spotless.
Would I stay here again absolutely 100% I'm already thinking of returning next year.


Fantastic week at this little gem

These studios are very close to the centre of loads of restaurants and not far from the beach. They are cleaned everyday and they serve breakfast and snacks from 8am-8pm. The owners are lovely and very helpful. The swimming pool is not heated but kept very clean and for every 2 sunbeds , there is an umbrella and table

I would stay again in a heartbeat

Fantastic stay at the Makis studios 24th August for 2 weeks. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, our room was spotlessly clean and cleaned every day and regular bed linen and towels changed. the only draw back is the size of the bathroom but hey you don't spend all your time in their, the apparments are very peaceful and the pool and bar area are spotlessly clean plenty of sunbeds for all as per usual people put their towels on the sunbeds and disappear for the day then return around 4pm for a swim.

Fantastic holiday to the Makis Studios 

Good accommodation with very comfy mattresses and pillows. New kettle and toaster together with cooking utensils and portable electric ring. Bedroom a good size although bathroom very small,but hey you're not in there for very long.Always plenty of hot water. Air con worked very well. This cost 65€. The pool area was very quiet, sunbeds are newish and basic with no cushioning. Although the pool area is swept everyday, a good hose down would be good as never had such grubby towels before! Payment for aircon safe etc is asked for with cash, majority of restaurants, supermarkets in Skala are using card, this left us short of ready cash as I like to save it for taxi and buses and I don't like using atm in village.Walk to village was very quick and we really enjoyed the village life different to the beach road where we normally stay.

Peaceful village apts

Lovely small accommodation, approx 26 rooms. Rooms are cleaned daily.  We stayed in a studio which was spacious and comfortable.  There was air conditioning in room but you had to pay £65 per week to access the controls to operate, which we thought was completely ridiculous, this should be a compulsory part of the accommodation.  The shower curtain could definitely do with replacing as was bit mouldy looking at the bottom.  Plenty of sun beds available so no need to rush to get one, the parasols however were a bit scraggy looking. Relaxing and peaceful, no loud music or discos etc… I’d say it’s suited to couples looking to just relax in peace.  Not suitable for those with mobility problems as there is a lot of stairs to access pool, bar and some rooms

After reading great reviews on trip advisor we booked a week’s holiday to the Makis Studio Apts in Skala, when we arrived we were greeted by Effie, such a lovely lady, she is the daughter of this family run establishment, with a big smile she showed us to our room which was absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean and everything we needed for our stay.
Overlooking the pool with plenty of sun beds our balcony was a good size, all in all a very tranquil setting, no noise just peace and quiet, just a short stroll into the main area of Skala which has plenty of tavernas and shops, also a well stocked supermarket and a great bakery. The Makis Studios offer everything we needed to make it a lovely week, after talking to many of the other guests, they repeatedly come back to the Makis year after year. We can see why, it has all the charm and character that you would need to make this a great place to stay.
We also will return with no hesitation

A holiday to remember that ticks every box 

So first trip on holiday Solo and what a pleasant experience it was. I was greeted off the bus by Effie who has such a warm welcoming smile and she is an absolute star. Was shown my room which was spacious, had all essentials needed. Kettle toaster fridge,safe (cost) and A/C (cost) which I didn’t use as it was May and was cool at night. Pool is a perfect size, with a bar that serves great food and snacks and the usual ice creams etc. The beer on draught is Mythos and for me was the best pint in Skala.€4 . Everyone round the pool were all very friendly and it was a lovely environment to unwind in.It’s more suited to an older crowd although again it was the first 2 weeks of the season.  Effie and Rita make you feel so special and they both really were the icing on the cake. I loved it and thank you to everyone 

Perfect place 

Just returned from 2weeks holiday in these lovely studios, couldn't fault a thing. The whole complex is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Rooms are cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed regularly, tea towel and washing up liquid supplied. Cleaners are friendly and efficient and work very hard. Our terrace was large with comfortable chairs (room 4).Mosquito nets on the windows which was a huge bonus. Pool area lovely with lots of sunbeds and kept immaculately clean. Pool bar is a great place to have a drink and chat to other guests. We had breakfast there most mornings and it was excellent. Effie and her Mum are great hosts and are efficient and friendly, it's no surprise they have many return guests. We would certainly stay here again.
