I stayed here for 1 week in June with my husband & 2 children aged 18 & 21. The hotel is very modern as it’s not long built. spotless clean and updated decor! Our room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels everyday also! It is a family run hotel and honestly they couldn’t do enough for you. The pool area is a little on the small size, but it caters for the size of the hotel, so was perfect for us! The hotel is situated in the heart of Tsilivi. A walk to the food/bars/restaurants is at the bottom of a small Lane within the hotel. The beach is 5 mins away from the hotel. And a beautiful beach at that!! The only down fall I would say is there is no lifts in the hotel, so if you have mobility issues there is quite a few steps to get up if your located on the 1st floor. Air conditioning is charged at €16 a day. This was def needed for our room as the temperature outside was reaching 31o some days.  Well worth the money! Breakfast is a small selection of eggs, beans, toast & cheese, coffee & juices and fruit. Not a massive selection but sets you up for the day. They have a selection of other food on there menus! Can I just give a shout out to all the staff at hotel Irene especially the maid, she works very hard, as do they all!!  We will definitely be back one day!!

Fantastic Family Run Hotel

I’m a very very easy going traveler who doesn’t need luxury but.... The pictures were completely false advertising. The reality was that I was given a room in what felt like a basement or a dungeon. Perhaps more like a prison cell if you want to take into account the noise. The echoes of banging doors and chatter. The beds were like sleeping on the floor. They felt damp. The back door wouldn’t lock and it would have been easy for anyone to get in. The ‘furnishings’ were non existent. Not even a picture on the wall. Depressing, depressing, depressing. I took a video and sent to a Greek friend - he was shocked and said he couldn’t believe places like that still existed in Chania.

I’ve stayed in over 6 different accommodations in Chania and more then 20 around Greece & I’ve never had this experience. Yes Hotel Irene is cheap... but I have paid the same price in many other places. 

This is not a reflection on the staff who were absolutely lovely. I was offered a different room but I’d booked elsewhere already (I was awake from the noise before 6 am) I felt really s*^t from the bad energy in that room and I didn’t want to take the chance. I asked if I could be refunded my Final 2 nights i had paid for which was refused .... I think if the management insist on renting that particular (room 14) or I suspect all 1st floor rooms then €15 - €25 is about what the room is worth 


Truly awful! Worst room experience in Chania. 

room 12 . comfy bed. good housekeeping. shower curtain only 3/4 in length, that combined with hand shower meant  wet bathroom floor (drain !!} . room very basic. but 2 star so adequate. Demetri and maria friendly staff

2 STAR HOTEL

The pictures on booking.com certainly made the place look much nicer than it is. My room was big but you can tell that it's not well maintained.
Wifi is strong and it IS very well situated. Moreover, reception was very caring and attentive. 
I just wouldn't call this an amazing place. Probably a 6/10.

Good wifi and comfy beds, but don't expect luxury

I really admire the patience of the receptionists. They were very helpful and able to help us with everything. The cleaning service was also the best!!! Everything was cleaned daily. Receptionist with curly hair is the kindest and most patient person who knows everything

The best hotel

Great location just a couple of steps from Venetian, cozy and clean rooms. Just a five minute walk from a wonderful sandy beach on the left side of the hotel. However would not suggest to take the breakfast because the it is every day the same and there is no much variety of food. 

If you come late make sure you have the keys for the hotel door because they close it for the night.

Cozy, nice and affordable!

We stayed a week and by the second day I was looking for another hotel.  However, Sophia Receptionist changed our room to a higher floor so we stayed.  It is basic, clean and in a good area but things are broken and nobody is fixing them.  So much could be done with a little maintenance.  The seats in our first room had the covers torn and stuffing exposed. I wrapped a town over the offending chairs and bless, the next day, the towels were back in the bathroom and chair stuffing exposed.  The walls are paper thin.  The man (it was a man believe me, he had an aim) must have a prostate problem.  We could hear him using the loo ALL night long. The breakfast if fine.  The value for money was just ok.  I would give the hotel a one star in the current state it is in.  Fix the shower heads, the curtain rails, paint the furniture and reupholster and you could be a two star. Staff are holding the hotel up....

This hotel is very run down with spotty and inconsistent front desk coverage.  Stayed for a week.  It was holy week in Greece so I don't know if this made front desk coverage even less.  Checked out a day early & had no opportunity to tell front desk person because they were never present.  Still charged the night that we didn't stay.  Have reached out via phone calls & emails & they refuse to do the right thing and refund room.  Very rude on phone always saying they have no control over the situation.

Also, furniture in room torn.  Shower unacceptably small.

Location ok, very close Venetian port.

Disappointing...no customer service

Very nice Room! We were met by the host and hostess upon arrival and showed the room. It is very clean and many thoughtful touches. The hostess even gave us each a pair of slippers she had made and some cake to eat, plus other snacks and bottled water. Cable tv with English channels are included with room. Great location within walking distance of old harbor and many shopping and dining opportunities.
