I have visited this wonderful hotel many times on my business trips or as a stopover on the way to Karpenissi. It is fabulous, with spacious rooms, excellent breakfast and outstandingly polite personnel !! Thank you !

Local hospitality at its best

Hotel Athina in Lamia is in a great location near the city center. Close to one of the major city squares, cafes and shopping centers. Offers a great variety of breakfast options and the personnel is really friendly and always willing to assist you. Impressively clean that could easily be tagged as a four-star hotel taking into consideration the facilities and added services. Definitely highly recommended !!!! 

Excellent accommodation services

We had to stay the night in Lamia because our car broke down. We stayed at Athena hotel and they were very helpful. Hotel was nice and clean. Price was good too. They had lots of board games in their living room :)

Nice hotel

Excellent location to explore the town. The breakfast was varied and good. The room exceeded my expectations - it was a good size, very comfortable and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Good for one night

I stayed here over night with the wife. Secure car parking which again is very important for the motorbike. Reception staff were very helpful. The room was nice and big and we were able to put the heating on full blast which allowed us to dry out our  motorbike kit out as we had got soaked on the way there. It's close to the main town squares and restaurants and bars so well worth a visit for that reason. The local economy is a lot livelier this year than it was in my visit last year which is good all round. We enjoyed the night run and the breakfast at the hotel is excellent. Thoroughly recommended as an open overnight stop as you tour the country.

Warm sanctuary

We stayed for one night there and everything was perfect! The reception staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and really well equipied with all the small things that most hotels do not offer like soaps, shampoo, slippers, sewing stuff, ladies and gentemen s kits, body cream, toothbrushes and toothpastes. I loved them. The beds were big and comfortable.  The hotel is fully accessible with a wheelchair and the bathroom is big enough and has the amenities for people with kinetic problems. In a few words a small hotel which meets great expectations. We wil visit again for sure! Thank you Athina!!!!

Big clean rooms, provides everything an absentminded traveller might need!

The hotel is ok for Lamia. The bed is very comfortable and I sleep very relaxed. The staff from reception and from breakfast is very friendly and helpful with all. The breakfast is ok. Parking is ok and they help you. If I will be I come returne for one night.

Very good bed

We spent one night here to break a long drive.  The hotel is very well placed for the restaurant quarter and the shopping district.  It also has a small basement car park, which is wonderful as parking on the street would be difficult.  The hotel is clean and well managed, but a little in need of some updating here and there.  We had a large room with a fantastic terrace, furnished with seating and a table.  Breakfast was included in the surprisingly large lounge and had a great selection of cereals, savouries, yogurt and cake.  Charming staff.

Pleasant hotel in great central location

As we were driving into Lamia, Greece we were looking for hotels. We called the Hotel Elena or what we thought was the hotel Elena, and made reservations based on recommendations on Trip Advisor. When we arrived the clerk said we didn't have reservation and that sometimes calls made the hotel get redirected to Hotel Samaras and we would have to go there. A little bait and switch. We didn't care for the Hotel Elena anyway, because we could tell it was a smokers hotel so we called Athina Hotel. They had room and when we arrived the hotel was clean, smoke free and had convenient parking under the Hotel. The rooms were large and very clean with tile floors. Bathrooms were large, modern and spotless. There was virtually no signs of the room having been smoked in, for which we were grateful The staff spoke adequate English and were helpful. We were off the street and the room was quiet. We were one of two guests after a holiday weekend so breakfast was not a varied as it might have been but was still adequate. No fresh fruit, thus 4 out of 5. Hotel pricing was a bit higher than others but well worth it.  

A easy stopover

The website of the Athina presets a slightly rosier picture than reality. The place is central, very clean and essentially functional, yet it’s decent value for money. I booked a one-night room as I need a transit stop between Thessaloniki and Delphi. I chose the Athina on the basis of readers’ reports on here.

It’s a budget hotel, but it does budget well. My room (104) was sizeable enough. A large single bed, a comfortable bathroom with more than adequate space - especially the shower which can be excruciatingly small in some Greek hotels - and it had a street view balcony.

There’s a TV, aircon and a fridge which - when I came - was turned off and empty. Not too impressed with that. There are no coffee making facilities and the only drinking vessel was the bathroom glass which I commandeered for a late night beer that I brought in from outside.

Wi-Fi is next to useless. I irks me badly when hotels ‘offer’ WiFI, but fail to make the effort to deliver on speed. In my room it averaged 1.33 MPs which is NOT enough (hope you are reading this, Athina Hotel). I was better off with my own mobile Greek data which is not always available to overseas visitors to Lamía.

This is not a tourist hotel. It is a place to sleep, not to linger. Lamía is a nice, lively town and Athina is close to the action and on that basis alone it may be worth giving it a look-in. Amen.
