Fantastic

I wanted to like this place so much, and Vasilis was very friendly which was nice.

But unfortunately a friendly host is the only positive thing I can say about my stay at Marianthi 'Paradise' studios. The one bedroom apartment I was staying in was more like a hot and humid South American prison cell than a hotel room.

Firstly, the aircon did not work, and unlike the pictures the room was below ground, the curtains had to be drawn at all times, as the only way to keep the heat out, which hardly worked. There was of course no balcony for me to sit on and look out at like in the pictures, which is the only reason I chose this hotel in the first place. 

Apart from sweating all night in the heat of my dark underground cell, there was a large gap in the door and door frame that let in insects and mosquitoes, which bit me and plagued me all night. So I wasn't even able to get a good nights sleep, and was only able to fall asleep through exhaustion with the constant buzzing of mosquitoes at my ears. I'm sure this is a form of torture in some countries.

Things literally broke off in my hand like the door knob to the bathroom and unlike the pictures there was no microwave just a hob. The mattress was little more than a thin piece of foam, with extremely thin pillows, that weren't even high enough to raise my head, meaning I had to sleep on my arm and blankets to prop my head up enough. I woke up each morning with incredible neck and back ache. What a great way to start the day each morning while on holiday. I could go on, but you get the gist.

Eventually after about 6 days I couldn't stand it any more and had to find a decent hotel to stay at for the last week, which meant I had to fork out another 400 euros, thanks.

I don't usually bother writing reviews, but I felt motivated after a JET2 employee phoned me up and started demanding I pay 7 euros to the hotel as tourist tax in person. I said we can do it over the phone, but I'm not going to drive for 2 hours to give them 7 euros. She was adamant I had to go there in person, ridiculous.

Such a shame that JET2 doesn't check beforehand and ensure these places are in better condition. So stay away from both, be warned.

My JET2 Maranthi week of hell

We visited the Maranthi for the first this year, thought the apartment was dated and basic we had a fabulous holiday here. 
From the maids who came every day and nothing was too much trouble to Vasilis, Christoph and of course Mamma who were friendly and the perfect hosts
These apartments are a 20 min walk into Molovos but us it was worth it, sitting on the hill we had fabulous views of Molovos and the surrounding hills.
The sunsets from here were amazing.
We would definitely return.

Molivos holiday

I travelled solo in August and this was just what I wanted. It was really peaceful, and just a short 10-15 min walk into town. There’s also a small supermarket at the end of the road. The host was waiting for me to arrive and introduced himself and his brother who run the place. My room was spacious, and had two balconies - overlooking both the sea, castle and their family farm. The pool was clean and had plenty of sun beds to use. It was never crowded. I can’t get over how nice and friendly they were and how peaceful it was. I’ll definitely be back!

Perfect 

Wow- stuck for words to describe just how fantastic this place is. I rarely review but felt utterly compelled to do so. Firstly Vasilis and family are the most genuine and hard working hosts you could ask for. Talk about going above and beyond, they are there for you whenever you need. A lovely human touch that can be missing on other holidays; you certainly get here. 

The location is superb- gorgeous countryside and a view of the beautiful town of molyvos. More on that later.

The pool area is well kept and whilst the facilities may appear slightly dated, they are perfectly functional and the grounds are just stunning.

A quick 15 minute walk down the slight slope to town or a €6 taxi (€12 to Petra which is worth a visit for beach goers).

Molyvos is like a movie set, perfectly preserved, loads of wonderful restaurants and bars and not crammed full of tourists. 

If you want an authentic Greek experience, this is 100% it. Hidden gems are hard to find these days but this is one.

A final big shout of to Georgia from Jet2. We had a small medical issue and she sorted us with medical attention and phoned the local pharmacist and A&E that very moment. 

There’s a lovely human touch about this place. People are trusting and extremely friendly. If you don’t visit, it’s your loss!

The most authentic Greek experience we’ve had

Very basic rooms but great pool area and staff , nothing too much trouble . A long way from town or a supermarket - taxis a likely option . 
Great scenery but a shame neighbour has part blocked the view ! Vassillas never stops , his Mum and dad lively too . 

Nice but basic 

Loved this place. 
My daughter and I were in need of sun, tonnes of Greek salad, somewhere to wander about and explore, somewhere to relax and read, somewhere value for money. And we hit the jackpot with this place.
Vasilis knew our names within 2 minutes and was on hand for anything. Our room had 2 balconies so we could look at the sheep in the family’s farm behind, the mountains, Dad’s prolific vegetable patch, the sea, the sunset, the village and castle lit up on a night. This is a view I’d never get tired of seeing, especially out on the wooden terrace eating Mum’s homemade food, served by gregarious Vasilis or shy Christos. We even got to see Mrs Vasilis and their very cute son one evening. 
If you know Greece, know basic Greek accommodation, understand the economic hardship they’ve been through due to the pandemic then you’ll like it. If you’re expecting Premier Inn type accommodation then you won’t. Our room was very tired, needing a new bathroom and new mattresses. The pool needs new sun beds and parasols. The kitchen facilities are minimal. It’s a shame 2 new little holiday buildings are being built on the land next door. 
But Marianthi had everything we needed, was cleaned daily by lovely staff, there  was a book exchange, the air con worked as did the hair dryer. It’s a manageable walk or taxis were €6. There are supermarkets that will deliver (not the nearest one, but the one next to the pharmacy and TK’s up in the old town) but Vasilis sells bottles of water singly or in 6 packs to save you carrying them. There are snacks, ice creams, drinks, breakfast/brunch/lunch choices, delicious evening meals, alcohol -  and people to chat to if you want to. Plenty of space to park if you hire a car (which we would if there’s a next time 🤞🏻).
With quiet apart from the occasional clanking sheep bell or braying donkey, this is the authentic Greece you’re looking for.

Genuine Greek hospitality

Highly recommended!  Lesvos is such a beautiful island. You must visit! This is our 2nd visit this year to Marianthi, we enjoyed it so much in June that we had to visit the island again and staying at the family run marianthi was a must. The apartments are clean and spacious with spectacular views of molyvos,  especially the castle.  The owner vasilis is an excellent host, friendly,  caring and very funny. Vasilis mum is an excellent cook too. Plus you will find his dad tendering to the allotment in the grounds. We intend to visit many times in the future.

I booked here last minute with Jet2, not knowing what I as getting, and I’m glad I went! When I arrived I was greeted by Vasilis, whose family own and run Marianthi Paradise. He’s lovely, friendly and very helpful, as is Christos and their mother, who is a fantastic cook. As well as English food, they serve traditional Greek food, which is amazing. The Moussaka is the best I’ve ever had! The Souvlaki and Stifado are so tasty, and the chicken and potatoes were beautifully cooked. They also have beer, soft drinks, ice creams etc, so you’re well catered for.

The rooms have everything you need, and the pool area is well kept, with great views of the castle and town. You’re about a 20 minute walk away, or Vasilis or one of the team will happily call you a cab. Molivos itself is a lovely place, with plenty of choice for restaurants and bars - if you like Gyros, make sure you visit Friends.

Amazing location. Peaceful and serene. Great sea view with an astonishing daily sunset. Or a fantastic mountain view with an astonishing daily sunrise. 15min walk to the beach, shops, and action.
Authentic Greek-friendly family who grow on their land the best feta cheese and tomatoes on the island.
Everything was clean and accommodating. I would definitely visit again
