Monemvasia is an amazing historical village on a hillside. This upmarket pension was on 2 different levels, with good A/c and terrific view of the town. Also right near the best restaurants ( Kanoni, Chrisovoulo) and best bar. Parking is near impossible one the road to the peninsula, so we parked in the new town and took a 5 minute taxi ride. Hotel can also get you a man with a trolley once inside the gates to take your bags across bumpy cobbled street and some stairs to your room.  Friendly receptionist in shop below. Only negative - the pillows felt like rubber and were not very comfortable.

Excellent view, suite on 2 levels

We had a beautiful room here with wonderful views over Monemvasia. Unfortunately, the air con units on the next roof and the music from the bars opposite kept us awake till the early hours. Comfy bed, basic kitchen stuff provided and free Wi-Fi but hopeless if you can’t sleep.

Beautiful but noisy

This was a great choice overall. Monemvasia is a very unique place; must see. The parking situation is an adventure and after a long drive, I was grateful to have accidentally chosen a “hotel” so close to the main gate! The residence has an epic sunrise view. The couple which manages the residence and the shop downstairs is really friendly. The only reason the review is 4 and not 5 star is because the water in the bathroom smelled. I believe the pipes need a good clean which should be an easy fix.

Epic Sunrise

The hotel is well located within the village. It is well equipped including fan, aircondition and a good coffee machine.
Our hosts were very friendly. The gave us great recomendations. Tgey equiped us with beach facilities and some special gifts from the shop. 
The view is superb while it is fully private.
It was a fantastic stay.

A great experience

We stayed in the two floors/two bathrooms suite at the back of the complex just off the main street of Monemvasia. It's not far from the main entrance of the town and right in the middle of the shops and restaurants. Fantastic location and the suite was perfect for our needs. 

Although breakfast is not included there are kitchen facilities to make your own. The view of both bedrooms is of the unique rooftops with a glimpse of the beautiful blue sea. Catching a sunrise was a highlight of our stay. The couple that run the place were always friendly and helpful with any request. I can't fault the facilities of the suite, they were great and the air con was heaven sent after exploring the town on a hot July day. The suite is in a prime location for siesta during the day and coming out in the evening for a late dinner at a number of the nearby restaurants.

Great Location in Monemvasia

Hotel is just 3 meters (across the street) from a loud club that plays music 'till 3am during weekends and 2am during the week. It is not only the very loud noise but also the vibration from the bass - the whole building VIBRATES! After the club closes then you have the noise of the employees cleaning the venue - screaming, shouting, etc.

We stayed Friday to Monday - Saturday to Monday there was no hot water in the shower.

As for WiFi, you have to rely on the WiFi from a soap shop underneath the rooms - which is only available from 9 to 21hrs, and signal is week. Otherwise you have to rely on the the free WiFi of the above-mentioned club.

Stay away from this hotel!!!

Cannot sleep here!

We stayed at menekses for 3 nights in July. We are a family of five with three kids about 10 years old. The two floors and two bathrooms were totally adequate for a pleasant stay. It is ideally located close to the entrance and all the restaurants, cafes and other stores. The view is amazing and the rooms are nicely decorated and thoughtfully equipped. The young couple who runs the hotel were always available in case we needed something, but everything was already ok. There is no balcony but the location and the spacious rooms totally balance it out. We would definitely stay there again.

Up to all our expectations

We stayed at Kalnterini for one night and really wish we could have stayed longer. When you first arrive at Monemvasia it's a bit strange because you can see the bridge and the island but not much sign of a walled town. If you cross the bridge and drive all the way around you come to a wall with an archway. You can park anywhere along this road. You go through the arch and around a passageway and turn into the most amazing street. Just stunningl, charming and ancient. The hotel is a little walk up this lane. We arrived at a lovely shop selling organic products and were warmly greeted by a lovely young man who offered us a delicious honey drink. He then showed us to our room. Downstairs we had a double room and bathroom with a little kitchenette (sink and hot plate) and the room upstairs was similar with a counter and kettle (a rare find in a Greek hotel). The rooms are just so charming, white walls and dark beams and shutters but light and airy. The view over the rooftops to the sea was lovely as well. This is by far the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Greece. Our reception when we checked out was equally warm and friendly. The town was amazing and if we ever find ourselves in that area again we'd definitely stay at Kalniterini.

Fantastic Hotwl.

Staying in the Castle at Monemvasia is something I would encourage every traveler to do.  Kalnterimi isn't ideally situated close to the front gate which makes ease of access key.  More importantly the tiny hotel is as charming as can be.  The owners are very helpful and run a lovely shop on the Main Street.  We were fortunate to get a 2 story room with 2 beds (we are 2 older women travelers) giving us plenty of room to spread out.  The view over the tile roofs looking at the sea was amazing and the Tavernas and bars are just a short walk away.

Charming hotel in a storybook setting

The appartment can be found quite close to the gate, just a couple of steps up from the main street. It's two large rooms with own bathroom and kitchenette on two separate floors (suitable for two couples travelling together, or with kids like us) and everything is stylish and (seemingly) new. It's run by a Greek couple that have a store just below and that sell very decent olive oil, wines, soap and other greats. 

Place itself is wonderful, but the bar down the street got quite rowdy one night, so we didn't get any sleep 'till four.
