This place is the best for holidays with family but with your friends too. It is very familiar, great service, very clean and very tasty food. I recommend this hotel. The breakfast is very tasty and with this view all tastes delicious.

A fantastic place for holidays!!!

This is the place you have to stay in Ano Chora. The bungalows are of excellented quality, very clean and tastely furnished and the owner Dimitris an unbelievable host who practically can read your wishes before you utter them. From the exellent homemade appricot jam at the rich breakfast table to expert tips on hiking routes, most of them marked by himself, he will do everything to make you stay in this beautiful place an unforgettable experience. 

Best Choice

We had two days there. A beautiful room with a great view over the valley. Food was good and the service, staff and owners very friendly and helpful.
We went on a hike with the owner (Dimitris) and also a mushroom hunt. The various mushrooms were then explained so we could know which ones we could eat. A great weekend - thank you :-)

Outstanding hotel in the middle of nature.

Stayed here with the family(3 kids) for 3 days during early January 2018.This is a block of individual small buildings (plus the lobby) which is laying in a hillside as you enter the village of Ano Chora.Fairly new(est.2005) ,is a family run small property ,very warm(in every way) with great staff and owners.We had a great stay , almost everything were ok.Breakfast and dinner above average.A lot of taverns nearby and hiking trails all over.It is about 1 h 30 m from Naupaktos in a relatively ``interesting `` incline.Outstanding nature ,good food ,relax and snow-game.What more do you except.Of course there are some more improvement steps to take place: Eiter at the hard product (sound proofing-doors maintain) or the soft one ( detailed room cleaness).But these doesn`t spoil the overall great stay.Recommended.

Exceptional guest house

(+) Perfect view of mountains over a stream IN the forrest. Huge rooms. Lovely dining hall. Warmth (literal an metaphoric). Super-friendly and helpful hosts and staff. Good food and breakfast -and demi-sec wine. In pretty village. Wood-stocked fireplace(!). Excellent off-road and country rides around. (-) unfinished/hasty build of the room we stayed in (Rose) ie no place to put toiletries, minor smell of sewer, super-noisy fan, no shower holder, we made the bed ourselves when we arrived. Prices as expected. General notes: 1) in times of snow and ice do NOT go to the top parking unless equipped well. Also beware of slippery steps! There are lots of them. 2) breakfast is set, not buffet but you should ask beforehand.

Right setup with few miahaps

I stayed in the Petrina hotel with my wife for three nights.
The Petrina hotel is an excellent value for money choice.
It is probably the best hotel in Ano Chora.

Very good home-cooked traditional greek food every day: breakfast (included in the room price), lunch and dinner. The prices, combined with the forest view and the personal (on a first name basis) service, are unbeatable. There are a few taverns in the village, but they do not offer the view or the quality of the food that the Petrina hotel does.

The rooms are FANTASTIC. Probably the biggest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. All of them have a spacious veranda, from which you can almost touch the fir and chestnut trees. All the rooms are built with stones and have a fireplace. The bathrooms are very spacious and fully equipped. The rooms are cleaned every day. I can not think of any place in Greece that could be as quite as this place.

The hotel is not a 5* hotel, but in reality it offers all the services of a 5* hotel - most importantly - at a fraction of the price of a 5* hotel. The owner, Dimitris, and his wife and always there, always available to help you with everything and answer all your questions.

The only negatives are the following:
-- there is no desk in the room (there is a small desk in the veranda). I really liked setting up my laptop in the veranda, but it was August. I am not sure if you can do this in winter.
-- there is free wifi throughout the hotel, but the signal strength within the rooms is very low (perhaps due to the stone walls). You can access the wifi from the veranda or the main hotel room. A few wifi repeaters in the corridors would have solved the problem.

If you like mountain biking of trekking, then Ano Chora is the village to be and Petrina is the place to stay. The paths are well marked. The hotel owner closely collaborates with the city council to maintain and expand the paths.

Ano Chora is approximate 50 Km (1 hour) from Nafpaktos. The road is quite curvy, but the second half of the drive is amazing. The village is small, but it is one of the few villages in Greece really located within fir and chestnut trees.

We stayed at the hotel in the summer, when the temperature was more than 40 degrees celcius in Greece, but not in Ano Chora: the maximum temperature in Ano Chora was 28 degrees; in the morning and evening it fell below 20 degrees.

During our stay in Ano Chora, I had the opportunity to take two long hikes.
The first one was to the Kakavos gorge. It is best to use you car to get to the start point of the hike. It takes approximately 1 to 1 and a half hours to reach the old stone bridge and return. You hike among fir and chestnut trees. The hike is easy, except for approx. 20 meters where there is a relatively steep kind of climb. The path continues from the old stone bridge to the village of Ampelakiotissa, but this part is difficult, because this part of the path has not been maintained.
The second one was through the fir and chestnut path that starts from the hotel and goes through the mountains. What an amazing trekking experience !

We strongly recommend the area and the hotel. We will definitely visit again.
