What an AMAZING hotel! The first time I am considering coming back to the same all-inclusive (AI) hotel. This is what a AI resort should be (if you want to find out what it shouldn’t be, read my previous review on a Tenerife hotel).

The resort (5/5)

This is a huge place, with two main sections, one at sea level and one higher up, linked with a steep path and a lift. The upper part is closer to the action and the main restaurant, the lower part is quieter and nearer the beach. Buildings are low rise, usually with just one floor above a ground floor. The resort is well tended and dotted with olive trees – shame they do not seem to do anything with the olives.

Location (4.5/5)

The hotel is in a remote location in the south of the island (Plimiri). There is no village, nothing else within walking distance. The reason for the good rating is that i) the resort is huge and we did not feel we were missing anything, ii) you can always hire a car if you want to, iii) this means the beach is unspoilt and just for hotel guests and iv) the remote location is what gives the resort its charm: the feeling of belonging to a club, where you meet the same people every day who actually stay in the resort instead of popping in and out of it. There is no wristband, because everyone is on the AI plan and there is no risk of anyone external to the hotel coming to use the facilities, precisely because of its remoteness.
The only (minor) downside is the relatively long transfer time from the airport, about 90 minutes.
We hired a car on two last days from Rodos Cars who have a desk in the hotel lobby. We drove it to Lindos on the first of these days and to Rhodes Town on the last day and dropped it at the airport. Well worth it. Tip: in Rhodes, park on Filellinon near St John’s gate, free and easy parking.

Beach (5/5)

The private, sandy beach is a wide and beautiful expanse, separated from the rest of the resort by a sand dune. It comes with free to use loungers and umbrellas. The water is crystal clear and you can see lots of different, colourful fishes just be dipping your head in the water. There is a nearby food and drinks station, where you can pick up granitas and nice sandwiches, which you can enjoy on the beach. The water was 24-25 degrees in mid-October.
Water activities include kayaking (free). You can take a 2-day crash windsurfing course (4 hours a day) for about 150 euros in total. As in many of places in the world, the beach sports club is run by (efficient if a bit gruff) German staff.

Sports facilities (5+/5)

Pack in your gym clothes, because if you want to be active, you have come to the right place! 
There are 6 tennis courts functioning as a club, where they lend you quality rackets which they can restring on-site. You could be virtually playing all day. They also organise a weekly tennis tournament.
The timetable of activities is dizzying. From water bikes to Zumba, to high-intensity gym sessions and tennis lessons, pétanque and mountain biking (all included), you could literally be spending the whole day being active. The coaches are great and the sessions are fun. You can sign up via the app – just remember you must be on time as they will otherwise start without you. 
In a word, sports facilities and activities are another area where this resort is outstanding.

Swimming pools/water park (5/5)

There are multiple, large swimming pools throughout the resort. The main ones appeared to be heated, but the large pool close to the beach wasn’t and was quite chilly. 
The water park facilities are impressive for a hotel, with a choice of rides, including thrilling ones. No queues at all, the facilities were barely used. Special mention to the lifeguards, very professional and friendly at the same time. They genuinely seem to care about people’s safety.

Kids club (3.5/5)

We barely used the kids club as it was mostly for younger kids (3 to 7) and speaking German is a must in order to play with other kids. The kids club was the only part of the club which did not seem very active (perhaps due to the shoulder season). Not a big issue for us though given there is so much to do in the resort.

Rooms (3.5/5)

We found the rooms to be the resort’s weakest point. We were in Block 12, behind the tennis courts. The rooms are reasonably large and there is small separation between the main bedroom and the kids area, where they each had their own bed (2 kids). The bathroom is massive and the toilets are separate. 
On the flip side, decoration is very bland, TV screen too small for the room. There was a weird smell outside for the whole stay, also some blocks (not ours) had the whizzing of air con all the time which you could well hear while on the patio. Not a great deal though, especially if you have come for the multiple activities.

Cleanliness (4.5/5)

The resort is very clean, with a special mention for the buffet. House keeping does a great job. The only slight exception is in the main rectangular pool, where the bottom was not very clean.

Food (5+/5)

At the buffet there is no need to check in or sign anything or scan a wristband or anything, you are just welcome with a smile and you can sit wherever you want. Usually there are no queues. This is the kind of relaxed approach that we like while on holiday.
The food is nothing short of amazing, and for some will even be the main purpose of the trip. I have never seen anything quite like it. Usually after a couple of days in AI, we become bored with the food and do not each much. Same dull food every day, isn’t it what AI usually means? Well, I can tell you that after a full week I was still enjoying it as much as on day 1 and I had to restrain myself…
The buffet is huge in size. The food changes every day. It is labelled very clearly and kept extremely clean. This is no budget food, you get lots of choices of meat plus great local produce (olives, stuffed leaves, Greek salad). 
The dessert buffet is what really stands out though. The hotel has its own chef pâtissier (Manolis Manakis) who makes out-of-this-world desserts. The quality and choice are even better than what you might find in a Viennese patisserie. We could not quite believe the quality of the choux, the chocolate eclairs we were eating. We hope the hotel retains his service and the rest of the staff, I am sure they could command a great salary if they moved to Dubai or London!
Also unlike other AI places, there is no pressure to go beyond what’s included and pay more for something better. There are a few extras available to purchase, but no need given how top-notch the food is. Local Mythos beer is very good and included.
There are also a couple of other restaurants in the resort where you can go once each during your stay (you need to book in advance). They are all very good and the service is great too. Only thing that you will be missing is the desserts from the buffet!
Finally, the resort has a patisserie/tea room next to the pétanque area, in the middle of the resort. You can there too enjoy unlimited cakes and drinks. As in the buffet, the quality of the food is absolutely outstanding. The quantities are generous too and the staff will never try to ration anything that you want. You can rest assured that, if you are hungry come the afternoon, you will find something delicious there.

Customers

When we went in mid-October (the week before UK half-term holidays) about 90% of customers spoke German and 100% spoke a Germanic language (ie, including Scandinavian languages and Dutch). This could change depending on when school holidays are, however bear in mind this is a TUI branded club, and TUI is German.
There was no English in the conversations, and no Latin languages either. We speak some German so managed to socialise a bit. However if your usual holiday involves mingling with Brits only, and you are not used to being in a “foreign” environment then you will not like it. German people can speak English, it is just that when you play tennis or beach volley the conversations between guests will be in German. If you have kids and want them to interact with other kids, then there may be a language barrier. So there will be more of a cultural effort than your usual Tenerife break where you can watch the Premiership in an Irish pub with similarly-minded Brits.
Guests are polite, well-behaved and, being mostly German, on time. If you arrive at 10.32 for an activity scheduled at 10.30, you can be sure it will be in full swing, and you may be turned away even if you have booked. You are most welcome to have fun, but being late is a no-no.

Staff (5/5)

The staff is very professional and attentive. It is very multi-cultural too. While most reception and cleaning staff are locals, sports coaches come from Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Belgium and other European countries and are on seasonal contracts. As you might expect, there are no Brits, thanks to Brexit. All staff were pleasant to deal with, with the exception of one Bulgarian tennis coach lady. 

Entertainment (3.5/5)

For such an active place, the entertainment programme was a bit underwhelming. We went to a couple of weird shows, including a faux Michael Jackson, which weren’t great. However the Greek show was more fun, and the disco party was an experience, with entire families dancing to the tunes of German rock songs. This is probably the one point that the hotel could improve, by bringing in more interesting shows.

Conclusion

The resort is outstanding, with sports facilities and food being its strongest features – although there are no real weaknesses with anything. Some people comment about German guests – if you are generally have trouble adapting to foreign cultures/habits and prefer sticking with English-speakers, and/or kids club is a really important point for you and your children would not be able to make friends, then that would be the main reason why you would not consider this club – also with the fact that other clubs may have better entertainment.
Ultimately the great experience we had was down to the hard work put in by the local people and the chilled-out, relaxed attitude of the guests. We will likely be back!

A truly outstanding resort! (φοβερο!)

I’m going to keep this short because a lot of my feedback is covered in previous posts. Amazing place! I’ve never been to anywhere quite like it. All the staff were 100% fabulous! Facilities great. 

Vegetarian/ vegan food- 
Tons of it. Plenty of options, food is labelled and delicious. There’s a whole vegan section for dinner in the main restaurant (far left, by the soup). Amazing salad selection every day in both the main restaurant and snack bar too. 

There’s also a kids menu stand at the back of the main restaurant. 

The specialty restaurants aren’t that special to don’t worry if you can’t get into them. You aren’t missing much- there’s greater selection in the main restaurant! 

Kids-
My single grumble is the difficulty my children had making friends, because most children are German and not interested in befriending non German children. Which is totally logical! They also refused to attend the kids club for this reason, and returned home having learnt more German than Greek. 

TIPS
There’s a pinboard on the Tui app- whilst in resort use this to find other English speaking children. Because the hotel is huge. Through this app we found a friend for my 9 year old to play with and it completely elevated his holiday. 

If you want to snorkel and see the fish- there’s plenty to see snorkelling at the hotel beach. We went on the boat trip offered by the dive med company. Only to later realise we could have seen more fish, from the beach! In my opinion money better spent hiring a car. 


The review of a vegetarian with kids

We have been to TUI Magic Life resorts before, so know what to expect, but this place Ace'd it. Absolutely fantastic two weeks there at the end of September and beginning of October 2023.

To start with, the complex is massive, it's more like a little city.  But I have no issues with walking long distances, The staff use electric carts to take peoples luggage to their rooms. It is on a few diiferent levels, but lifts are available as well as slopes and stairs.

The rooms are lovely, reception staff helpful, travel reps on hand daily. You won't be stuck for advice or assistance.

I chose this place because of my love for Boulles "Boccia", which was pretty much a daily activity. What was new to me was the App and the facility to book Activities. You could if you wanted to spend all day taking part in one event or another.  The Animation Team are excellent, I only had dealings with Joren from Belgium (sorry if I've spelt your name wrong, I'll probably do this several times), Steffi, Lena and who can forget Michi.  You guys rock. As an Englishman I was in the minority, but my new German and Swiss Friends were good company. Special Mention to Louca, Denise and their two duaghters Laura and Kya, star Boccia players, as well as Carsten, Bjorn, Barbara and Andreas.  We were fortunate to be there on the Octoberfest Evening, great food, great entertainment. Michi you are crazy and brilliant.

We tended to stay close to the Butterfly Pool because of its proximity to the Snack Bar and Taverna.  Andy and Nik thanks for your service and tolerating that talkative Englishman. It was so good to taste Gyros again at Lunchtime.  The rest of the food choices there were great as well. I loved the Carbonara Pasta dish.

The Magico Main Restaurant never failed to please, for Breakfast and Evening Meals. The food and choices never failed to surprise. I'm not a Dessert lover, but my wife felt the Desserts/Chocolate Dishes were sublime. Who can forget Elisabetha Front of House Hostess, you did a great job Girlie. The Waiter and Waitress Station staff (Anya and Amirbek) were helpful, friendly and polite, they work hard as well and sometimes get neglected. Thank you all.

Evening drinks at the Rooftop bar in the Wunderbar was enjoyable, our Waitress Service excellent especially as Amalia was constanly on the go as well as the Bar staff.  I'm missing my Late Night Ouzo already.

Don't forget to try the Cake Shop, coffee and cakes just amazing.

I could go on, but suffice to say, this is one of the best hotels we have been to, one of the best holidays we have had and are hoping to return next September,

Oh, don't forget to look out for the watersports guy wizzing around on his One Wheel+ electric uni board.

Our morning walk to the Restaurant meant we were passed many of the women cleaning outside, always greeting us with a friendly Kalimera. Their work often goes unnoticed but their efforts were appreciated, especially the morning after the Octoberfest. They work hard.

No question.  This IS a 5 Star Resort.

I can't rate this hotel highly enough, everything is perfect and we had an amazing holiday. The staff are all exceptional, friendly, professional and helpful and all look happy to be there. Our check-in was speedy and efficient and the reception staff gave us lots of useful information. We were in block 34 which was lovely and quiet and with a view of the surrounding countryside and hotel farm. Our room was spacious and comfortable with loads of wardrobe space and a lovely balcony. The hotel cleaning staff do an amazing job and our room was spotless. 
The whole area is beautifully maintained and has a  village feel as the accommodation is well spread out and low rise with lovely gardens throughout. The main restaurant is great and has loads of choice. We tended to sit in the adults only area and the staff there are very attentive and friendly. As a vegetarian I had loadsvof choice for each meal and really appreciated the variety. We also had a meal at the taverna which was excellent and our waiter Andie was lovely. The main bar has plenty of space and great drinks choice and the bar staff are very friendly and remember your usual drinks choice. We also loved the adults only bar for a chilled out experience with amazing service.
The pool areas are spacious with loads of beds available and the lifeguard and bar staff at the main pool are excellent. We also loved the hotel beach and beach bar for a relaxing swim in beautiful clear water.
The thing we most loved is the range of sports and activities on offer particularly tennis, cycling and exercise classes. The tennis facilities are excellent and we were always able to book a court with no problems. The tennis coaches are also excellent and it's definitely worth trying out a course or private lesson.
Really excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings with exceptional staff and facilities. It really was a magic life that we didn't want to leave.

It's magic

Wir haben nicht in diesem Hotel übernachtet und trotzdem möchte ich 5 Sterne geben.
Wir möchten uns vom Herzen bedanken, dass ihr uns am 22.07.2023 wo das große Feuer in Kiotari ausbrach aufgenommen habt. 
Wir sind von einem anderen Hotel geflüchtet und mehr als 8 km gelaufen verängstigt in der glühenden Hitze, wo wir in euerem Hotel per Anhalter ankamen. Das Hotel war ausgebucht und trotzdem habt ihr uns reingelassen und aufgenommen. Wir haben ein All Inclusive Armband gekriegt, dürften wir essen und trinken wie Hotelgäste. Alle Angestellter haben um uns rührend gekümmert. Schlafmöglichkeiten wurden vorbereitet. 
Ich kann nicht genug Danke sagen !
Nachdem wir uns ein bisschen ausgeruht haben, Dank den fantastischen TUI Mitarbeiterinnen, noch in der Nacht sehr abenteuerlich den Flughafen erreicht.

We didn't stay at this hotel and I still want to give it 5 stars.
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for hosting us on July 22nd, 2023, where the big fire broke out in Kiotari.
We escaped from another hotel and walked more than 8 km scared in the scorching heat until we hitchhiked to your hotel. The hotel was fully booked and you still let us in and took us in. We got an all-inclusive bracelet and were allowed to eat and drink like hotel guests. All the employees took great care of us. Sleeping arrangements have been prepared.
I can't say thank you enough!
After we had rested a bit, thanks to the fantastic TUI employees, we reached the airport very adventurously that night.

I had an amazing time at Tui Magic Life Plimmiri, and one of the highlights of my stay was the friendly and attentive lifeguard, Stelios. Stelios went above and beyond to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all the guests at the beach. His professionalism and kindness truly stood out.


Great service and nice resort

I had 3 massages all with Daniela. She was very professional and found all of my stress points. She also asked if it isn’t too much or if it is too soft. Would recommend everyone to book with her.

Overall the staff in the Spa is outstanding and also consult you on what massage would be the best bang for your bug 

Spa treatment 

I had a massage in the spa and it was perfect. My therapist was Daniela and she was great , she found all my intentions and I feel more relaxed now. I will definitely recommend to everyone to try a massage.

We both enjoyed this break in the late summer sun.  The resort is essentially a low rise mini village backing onto the sea. Plenty of activities if you wish but we simply chilled out in the several bars, coffee shops and restaurants.  The staff serve you drinks when they see that your glass is empty.  The staff are great and fellow guests mostly from all parts of Europe are good company.   All excellent.

A superb break

This was our first Magic Life experience & it surpassed all our expectations. The whole holiday was wonderful. The place is so spacious it never felt crowded. It's relaxing, friendly & clean. We enjoyed all the food we had in the main restaurant, so much choice we had different every night. The desserts were amazing every night too. We enjoyed going to the coffee shop for latte & cake, again friendly service. Entertainment was supplied every night either in the amphitheatre or the wunderbar. The dance floor was always full. We had some nice surprises like the beach party night and the German night. The German night was our last night & we didn't expect all that they laid on, it was so special. Such a great atmosphere & the entertainment was amazing that night! We will definitely be looking at going to another magic life resort. Thank you Magic Life Plimmiri.  From 2 happy holidayers. 😊
