Being on the highest point in Pylos the view from our balcony was magnificent. Sunset was spectacular. The upgraded room was spacious and quiet. The meal and breakfast at the sister restaurant were both appetising and enjoyable. 

What a view!

A lovely, clean hotel with a terrace and pool.  But the best thing was the stupendous view of Navarino Bay from the room and balcony.  The breakfast was very good and we ate in the restaurant a couple of times.

Incredible view

Before the Battle of Navarino in 1827 a unified Greek state was just an idea. After the battle, it was a reality. When the gunfire died away the British, French and Russian navies had inflicted a decisive defeat on the Ottomans, and modern Greece emerged in the ensuing years as a truly independent country.

Perched high on a cliff, Hotel Philip overlooks the remarkable beauty of Navarino Bay where yachts and fishing boats have long replaced the warships. The views (from rooms and balconies, the outdoor dining area or the indoor dining room) are exceptional and a source of interest day and night.

Our studio had a separate bedroom and sitting area plus a kitchenette. Breakfast (full service) was generous and both lunch and dinner are available - nearby Pylos offers more dining options though it's a steep walk back up from the town.

The hotel makes a great base to explore the many attractions of the western Peloponnese, though with beaches, boat hire and history ancient and modern on the doorstep there's no need to stray far.

Very friendly staff made us thoroughly at home - this is a very good hotel in a truly outstanding location. We'll be back. 

Overlooking History

We had a great 2 night stay at the Hotel Philip. The owners were very welcoming and provided a very nice and comfortable room with a fantastic view. The balcony was spacious and private. The shower and bed was fine and having a safe was a nice touch..

We had breakfast and lunch there and they were very generous and good.

We were there to play golf on the Costa Navarino courses. They were a short drive away and very beautiful.

There is a great beach a short drive away on the bay. The hotel provided towels which was a nice touch.

Pylos is a cute town which is a short walk down the hill.There are many nice restaurants to chose from. The walk back up the hill looked challenging so we took a cab from town and it was 5 minutes.

There is free parking right across the street from the hotel.

We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to this beautiful part of Greece.

Great hotel Fantastic views.

We stayed for 10 days at this gorgeous clean Greek hotel. Our rooms had large balconies where we could watch the sun set right over the sea in the evening time. Our hosts were relaxed and so accommodating. My husband and son ended up changing dates and arriving 3 days later and Nikos kindly did not charge for additional room. They were always very attentive and ensured all clients needs were met. The breakfast was most generous with sweet savoury and fruit offerings and is included in the price. We took the most stunning photos of Greek sunsets from the hotel and there is a small pool to dip into on the super hot evenings. It is a short walk down hill to the petty port town of Pylos, which we truly enjoyed each evening. This is definitely the best place to stay in Pylos and we will recommend to anyone exploring the beautiful Peloponnese area. Thank you Nikos and family. We hope to return again one day from Ireland

Top class stay at a tranquil hidden gem over looking the blue/green sea

Hotel Philip is nicely situated at the edge of town (which is still very walkable) with stunning views of the Bay of Navarino.  The breakfast included is excellent.  We had dinner twice in the restaurant - both dinners were delicious, and there is very good house wine.  Our room was spacious and clean, and our room's terrace overlooking the bay was fabulous.  Hosts, especially owner Evangelia, were warm without hovering.
Tips for the traveler:  the hotel reception areas (there are two) may not be staffed as the hotel is not that large.  The restaurant is the place to go to find someone in charge if there is no one at reception.  Do not be intimidated because the hotel is on the main road.  It should not impact your experience in your room or your view as the hotel is quite high above it.

Hotel very nice...the owner is the most unprofessional host in the world. 
He welcomes you like a robot. Is very hard to bring a word out of his  mouth 

101.5 euros for that?????

Great position, beautiful sea views, easy downhill walk into the town and quick taxi ride back; room met all our needs, very comfortable, balcony, etc.
There was a varied and generous breakfast, dinner too; proprietor a kind and busy Greek lady, with husband and sister-in-law;  great home-made marmalade!
We were unlucky with cloudy drizzly early May weather - but there's a small pool for the hot days later in summer. 
Easy access to golf courses and the sights on that coast

Really happy with our experience here

We were two couples in our 30’s travelling with our parents and we loved everything about this hotel. The owners, the staff, the excellent breakfast and most importantly the sensational sunsets. 

Philip the owner was beyond helpful and knowledgeable.

Excellent hotel - must stay!

The room was admittedly very nice with a fantastic panoramic sea view. Very clean, very tidy, everything was exceptional on this frontier. The breakfast was not, in my opinion, what you would expect for the charged price of the room, but it was decent. 

The behavior of the owner, however, is a different story. I called the owner to ask for room availability for 4 nights. He indeed confirmed a room was available for 4 nights and that I could come take a look and see if I'm interested (I was driving nearby so I was very close). Once I arrived at the hotel a young guy from the reception  (not the owner, he was nowhere near there) took me to the room. I saw the room and liked it, and asked the guy from the reception whether it would be possible to book it for 2 nights with the possibility of extending for another 2. He said would ask the owner and later he came and said it was ok, as long as I would let them know by next morning if I will be using the room for 4 nights after all. Which I did, indeed. Right after my breakfast at 10am, I let the owner know I would be staying for 4 nights after all. 

To my surprise, though, he had already given the room away to others without asking me! And as if this wasn't enough, he accused me of inappropriate behavior because allegedly I had initially requested the room for 4 nights and then switched to 2+2! When I calmly explained to him the whole situation, of which he was of course already aware, he replied "well, what can we do...". He also said to my face that "I cannot always be present at the hotel to receive new customers, I have other business to run".

It'a a pity because his behavior ruins the experience of the hotel, which is admittedly a very good place to visit. Last but not least, the ask for your identity card and keep it, which to the best of my knowledge is against latest GDPR legislation.

Good facilities with an excellent view, rude behavior of the owner, mediocre breakfast
