Hotel Alex Methoni  
We’d made a reservation though Booking.com and were aware this hotel had a 14 day cancellation policy unlike most other hotels which require only 2/3 days notice) 
Part way through our trip , as a result of an unexpected change to our itinerary, we were forced to cancel our booking. We started the process before midnight on the 15th day beforehand, but due to a slow internet connection in our hotel in another part of Greece, the cancellation didn’t actually go through until 1 minute past midnight. This generated a €75 cancellation fee
We emailed the hotel the following day to explain our problem, pointing out they had still had the benefit of 14 working days’ notice and asking them to agree to waive the cancellation fee. 
The hotel didn’t even bother to respond to our email - despite being automatically followed up by Booking.com. 
We’re regular travellers to Greece - and if that’s the way the management chooses to treat its customers we certainly won’t be including this hotel in our future plans.

Very unimpressed with their attitude

The hotel was fairly basic and does need an upgrade, but then again it is very cheap at £26 per night so that would definitely go up. Actually if you are treating the place as somewhere to shower and sleep then it is fine. It is wonderfully located with 8 restaurant/bars within a moment's walk and only a few minutes from the Castle which is well worth a visit. The young owner is very friendly and helpful and there is easy parking just outside. I really enjoyed my stay in Methone and I would return.

I stayed at the sister hotel Giota directly opposite the Alex

The staff was friendly but only this is not enough. The owner have to upgrade this hotel immediately, we are in 2017 not 1980 were the hotel belongs. The toilet flush was not operating properly, the windows were old and wooden, the mattress was uncomfortable and there were dust on the refrigerator. Also the hotel did not have elevators and there are 2 floors.And the price was 55 Euro per night (very expensive)

Not recommended 

We decided to explore the southern Peloponnese during July 2016 and ended up staying at Hotel Alex.  It is a clean, family-oriented, budget friendly 3 star hotel.  We had a room with a very pleasant view of Methoni Beach complete with moored boats on the water.  The beach is adjacent to Methoni Castle, an ancient Venetian styled castle.  What a delightful and serene view from the balcony! The hotel also offered free wi-fi and parking. Hotel Alex is part of a waterfront complex with several other hotels including Hotel Giota and the Methoni Beach Hotel as well as several family run and family-oriented tavernas serving delicious food and a cafe.  Everything you need for a great stay!  

A Room With A Pleasant View

Was once a good hotel, but nowadays needs a whole renovation. Rooms very old, bathroom not to standard at all. Rooms go out to the Plaza, very noice at night until 2 o'clock. Good: near to the beach. Would not recommend. Breakfast always the same, not very good.
