We rented the entire house for a family of 6 and it was very spacious.  Can definitely accommodate a lot more people.  The house is stunning.  It really does look like the pictures online.  The house is well kept up and very clean.  It has many different spaces for relaxing and gathering.  The courtyard and backyard were spectacular.  Eating in the courtyard was so peaceful.  Relaxing at the pool was perfect with the temperature of the pool being so well kept, the view of Rethymno, the goat bells in the background and the fruit trees around the pool area, it was all very magical. It was wonderful being in a village where we got to eat at local restaurants instead of touristy ones and speak with locals.  You really got to know what Crete was about.  We hired Christo, the chef recommended by the owner  Christian, to cook dinner one night, and were so thrilled, we hired him for a second night.  Christian can also recommend sites to see and places to go.  If you had any questions, Christian would respond quickly.  The only concern I would mention is if you little kids, the steps up to the second floor are fantastically beautiful, but a little dangerous for little ones, so just make sure you watch them.  We did have a three year old and it was fine, but you just want to be cautious. I would absolutely recommend Villa Candice to anyone looking for an amazing place to stay.  Being able to wake up and go right out to your pool every morning before setting out and coming back at the end of the day and relaxing at the pool again was blissful.

Stunning, Historic and Comfortable All Rolled Into One


      Everything was perfect during our second stay in Villa Candice. All was clean, the view was wonderful, the spaces were comfortable and the host was 100% ready to help us for what we wanted.We  had no problems with insects, but anyway if you know that usually mosquitos bite you, is better to use an antimosquito product if you go out in  the evening. 
 A wonderful home for ideal holidays near nature and at the same time quite close to the city of Rethymnon.

Wonderful house, area  and host 

This villa has beautiful views and is quite spacious.  The cleaning staff was wonderful and the personal chef we hired, a recommendation from the villa owner, was just great, preparing wonderful meals several nights.  However every morning we found new bugs crawling on our bedroom floor.  Four cats lingered by the entrance door each day, attempting to gain entry and after a few days, several of us realized the bites we were getting were flee bites, inside the house and outside on the covered lounge area.  This place needs an exterminator.

Beautiful but needs attention

My wife and I stayed at Villa Candice for a few days in Sept. From the moment we arrived our stay was noting but perfect.
Christian, the owner could not have been friendlier or more helpful. He personally took us to a Greek festival our 1st night there. His company and knowledge made our visit that much more insightful.
As to the villa itself, WOW! what a great job in restoring the building. Everything about it was great.

Terrific place!

If you are looking for something really  special, this is the  right place. The villa is a historic building restored to preserve authenticity but also  with  modern amenities! It  is situated in Maroulas at  15 minutes from the big city  of Rethymno, which is very  convenient and at 5 min from very nice beaches. The kitchen is a real pleasure with professional equipment, fully equipped. The pool is nice and very clean, with sunbeds, towels and a nice space to relax. We stayed here as a cople, for one week,  in Venus apartment, that is very spacious, with nice furniture and with a breathtaking view. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean and very good quality. Sheets and towels were  changed regularly. What would you want more, than to wake up, to see the sea, the mountains, the pool, the green  trees, flowers  and to hear the birds! You feel like in Paradise!! 

If you like to spend time on the beach I recommend Baja beach, which is a sandy beach, with very nice sunbeds, pool, bar, restaurant, Dj  but also Petra beach and Spilies Beach, that are with stones, but also nice.
In the area there are a lot of restaurants and taverns. I recommend Prima Plora restaurant, near Rethymno,  that is very nice, with sea view, and very good food  and also Thavma tavern.

The owner, Mr. Christian is just the perfect  host! When we arrived, it was a terrible hot day and he welcomed  us with fresh watermelon, that was really nice! Also he advised us  on local traditions, tours, weather and he cooked delicious breakfast with fresh cretan products!!!

Just Paradise!!!

Very good place to stay in A historical Village with amazing view of the sea. It was very clean and preserved very well in traditional style. Definitely a must be destination if you want to combine relaxing, swimming and comfort. The location is also very good as a base since it is within very reasonable driving distance of many great beaches and sightseeing. Pool is also nice. The owners Mr. Chantraine was very kind and helpful thanks. 

Fantastic place for a relaxing break

Villa Candice is a beautiful place with a magnificent view of the mountains and the sea. Very comfortable, spacious, clean  and modern furnished rooms. Warm and friendly place to stay, the owner is always kind and helpful and cooked delicious breakfast for guests. Kitchen is very-well equipped, rooms have air-conditioning, wi-fi, everything is new and beautiful. Villa is perfectly situated close to many tavernas and not far from Rethimnon. We had a really perfect and relaxing vacation there! I would highly recommend this villa!
