The only bad thing about nice places is that you fall in depression when it's time to leave them after a short stay...

In the little family hotel "Isalos" I felt informal, trustful and relaxed approach. The hotel's owner Akis is a nice and helpful man,  he manages also the restaurant.  He speaks English very well,  but also is glad when his foreign clients try to speak Greek. It was also nice to see his parents. Everybody working there was friendly to us.

Our double room with sea view was nicely designed with textiles of orange and green apple colours, it was  comfortable and was cleaned regularly.  We also enjoyed sitting at our spacious terrasse surrounded by garden flowering plants and feeding the hotel's cats passing by.
The Wi-Fi was Ok everywhere, including the beach bar area equipped with chaise-longues.

In the hotel's restaurant the eggplant in the oven, the imam and greec coffee were delicious. (Sure there is plenty of other delicious dishes in the menu!..).

As for surroundings, there is not so many touristes in that little marina village, so the atmosphere is cozy. The vendors begin to recognize you,  the local people have time to speak  with you... And you feel that in "Isalos" you can leave without fear all the doors of your room open at night - just to let more of fresh breeze to pass through...
 
As for activities, I suggest: 
- to visit twice their amazing Χώρα on the hill  (in the evening - by bus, and next time - in the morning, by feet,  following the ancient stairs, when the sleeping Χώρα is empty and calme, and then to descend by bus). From Χώρα there are other scenic trails...
- to explore by feet the nearest beaches and to take bus to the wonderful Psili Ammos beach;
- to speak with local people;
- to look at stars at night. (After all, it's the Greeks who gave the names to constellations!).

Suggestions for the owner:
- Breakfast -  to add a second option:  an egg or a slice of ham, fresh yougurt or hard cheese, fruit juice or a fresh fruit.
- In our room - to add a shower hook to the bathroom's wall;
- To ask clients if they have suggestions  (so I would not mention them there)  :)

Cozy marina, wonderful beach, amazing old town on the hill

This is my third visit to this charming, small (only five rooms) and low key hotel. The son of the owners has returned to manage the property and his staff is efficient, helpful and friendly. Isalos is a but distant (a 15 minute walk) from the other hotels and restaurants in Livadi, the port town of the island, so it is quiet. The food is home prepared and the owner will happily respond to your wishes. I look forward to returning again in the future.

Even better this time

The first thing was that the owner collected us from the boat. Otherwise it's a fifteen or twenty minute walk. The property is less than one hundred metres from the water's edge, looking straight across the bay to the pier. The accommodation was a standard Greek Island room, comfortable twin beds with ensuite shower and toilet, and plenty of hot water. The room was air-conditioned, with a fridge, a hot plate and coffee making facilities. The Wi-Fi was free with a good signal and the TV had a huge amount of channels. The room was made up every day. The breakfast was excellent, with yoghurt, boiled eggs and all the coffee you wanted. the beach was lovely, with free deck chairs and umbrellas and waiter service from the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant with a good menu and is at the end of the village so that it is  quiet at night, though just five  minutes walk to the nearest tavernas and bars. The owner also drove us back to the boat when we were leaving. All in all, a great experience. Serifos is a lovely island.

Four days in Paradise

Stayed two nights at Isalos, on the island of Serifos.The ferry got in at about ten o'clock at night, and we walked right round to the other side of the bay to the hotel. You can't really go much further, as the road runs out, and turns to a dirt track. We were just beginning to get worried, as it was dark, when we spotted the Isalos, and the owner was watching out for us.
The rooms are basic, but clean and nicely decorated.
The beach is right opposite the hotel, although when we were there in May, it was too windy to avail of it. 
It's a fair walk into the harbour, but you can get a taxi there, up to the old town ( Xhora), which is lovely, and has some windmills.
There are some good local tavernas not far from the hotel, along the beach. One night we were joined by two ducks, who swam along the shore, then waddled into the taverna to look for titbits . They were joined by four cats. A customer also had a dog with her. Love the quirky Greek tavernas! So much more interesting than the big hotels.
Serifos is lovely , and the Isalos would be a good place if you wanted a quiet get away, beside the beach.
Don't expect luxury. What you get is good, honest food, and clean accommodation.

Nice little hotel.Located by the beach.

This is my second visit to this low key but charming place. 5 rooms two steps from beach. Lovely older owners. Cafe and restaurant and beach service is available. Only problem is for non Greek guests. There is no one in charge who speaks English. And management of staff could be better. Some charming servers, while others, like the cook, are really grim! On my first visit last August 2012 the son of the owners was on site. He speaks very good English. He, unfortunately, has departed for his own restaurant in town and service has radically declined. The ambiance and location is simple but very good.
