We did not saty in the rooms but we made several pilgrimages to this delightful taverna, where the food is so good.  On day we had the good fortune that a local boat had caught a huge fish that the taverna had just cleaned and gutted:  the first steak from that fish, grilld to perfection was sublime.  Thereis never a drab dish at this .lovely small taverna

Excellent taverna

I can not recommend this place if you don’t want to live in a sexist and unfriendly place. They infringe your rights in many ways. First the staff breaks into your room if they think you to anything suspicious. The ex-owner who still lives in the place is really rude, he is violent and shouts at the customers. In the end they will tell you it was your fault and you have to deal with it. They are the opposite of open minded. Don’t go there if you don’t want to support rude and violent provincials.

We were there for a whole week and enjoyed every day! It's only about 100 meters to the beach, which we went to for an extensive swim in the morning. There are many worthwhile destinations nearby.

Simple but great location with excellent tavern at Gina's.

we did not stay in the rooms but whenever we can get to this taverna - and we visit Crete a couple of times a year - we make sure we do so.  the food is so delicious;  the hosts so generous and welcoming and caring and the ambience so serene.  Whether it is a superbly grilled fish caught that morning or simple vegetables from their own garden, the food is prepared with the ove that good ingredients deserve

Lovely food

The owners are very friendly and the quality/price ratio is excellent, for a situation like this at the sea (3 min walk). Room with refrigerator, cabinets and small plate only for heating water, glasses, cups and 2 plates and knives. This is very convenient for breakfast, given that it is rather expensive at the tavern (€5 per person). Bathroom with permanent hot water (very rare in Crete!) and curtain of a few shower. Small terrace with table and chairs (no long chair in all rooms), just boring: the number of flies (probably attracted by the adjacent farm) and mosquitoes.

Calm and excellent price/quality ratio

outside of everything (but 5 minutes from Fangokastello), in an unreal but cozy silence, a beach at 50 meters almost always empty (and a relative tavern), simple structure, Spartan - with really low prices- but of great hospitality, clean, with owners of extreme sympathy and availability and with tavern attached with great taste dishes at basic prices.

Out of the world, with Cretan simplicity and courtesy.

The quietness of the place, the sea and mountain views, the proximity of the beaches, the clear and turquoise water, the comfort and cleanliness of the room, the hospitality and generosity of our guests, Gina's family kitchen, everything is there to have a good vacation.

The place is beautiful , perfect value for money, and the location is ideal if you want to rest for some days. The food is amazing, probably the best dinner we had in all of our vacation. The hosts are excellent . We will definitely return in the future

Comfortable small rooms, a very pleasant setting on the beach (the beach is 200 metres away) and an extraordinary welcome, not to mention the kitchen of the tavern next door: this address is truly exceptional! Very good breakfast on the map and tasty cuisine.

Choosing without hesitation

So if you want a typical vacation, in a lost corner with nothing around except the beach and a castle: it's the ideal place A top hostel with a charming woman, a tavern right next to the same name and a very good kitchen, little attention in the room that doesn't enjoy a luxury last cry but for the price nothing to say attention just to the sun shower so in the morning it's cool
