We enjoyed our time with this fine establishment.  Friendly hosts, clean room, great location and an amazing little restaurant.  The rooms are basic but clean and feature a small terrace by the sea with a view of a castle.  Our room accommodated the four, it had two single beds and one double, a small fridge and a small bathroom with a shower.  The Orthi Ammos is located just past the castle, an easy walk to the beach in a quiet area.  We enjoyed many seaside meals, cooked by the friendly staff. If you are looking for a pure, classic Greek seaside stay this may be the place.  We would love to return.

Seaside Bliss

We  specifically wanted to stop here as we had previously enjoyed eating there. 
Friendly service, good  honest food, a lovely view overlooking Frangokastello beach.,
And only 100m from the castle. 
I would highly recommend this taverna to friends and family.

Nice place with great sea view  and nice  Greek traditional food with lovely people and you have to try sfakian pie with local honey and sfakian lamb (tsigariasto) you have to visit this place it's very kindly People

Lovely place 

The title says it all : you have the perfect view over the sea and over the old Venetian fortress of Frangokastello. There is a lot written on the menu but not everything was available. What we finally took (and we went several times to this restaurant during our stay on Crete) was more than just OK but lacks refinement. Just ordinary food, no extra thrills. The service was very friendly and on our last visit (we mentioned that it was our last day on Crete) we got offered quite a lot "on the house", so much that it was nearly embarrassing. To summarise : excellent location, friendly service, and no nonsense food at a low price.  I have to point out that we only visited the restaurant and didn't stay at this hotel.

What a view! And no nonsense food at a reasonable price...

This hotel cancelled my booking last minute due to fire. This left me without any other accommodation as it was high season and everything was sold out the town. I very much doubt that the reason for cancellation was fire as I can see on booking.com that they are sold out. So I wonder if they just got a better offer of a booking for more days -mine was only for two nights. In either case, you can not rely on these owners. They are either unreliable or their property is unsafe and caught fire.

Unreliable/unsafe accommodation 

We went there for a late lunch, on our last day at Frangokastello, and we were really disappointed... The greek salad was the best dish, and even there the feta cheese was a bit smelly. The mousaka had been cooked at least five days ago, the mix grill had tons of oregano on it to cover the smell of the meet and the tzatziki had a weird taste. At least the beer was nice and cold, but I would never go back there again, especially since there are so many places with great food in the area...
