So this is my first review and I wanted to put this info out there because it ruined our experience and at the end of our stay we couldn't get away fast enough!! I actually sighed up just to write this review..We visited in winter so it was off season. The concept of this wooden hotel is nice.But the wooden rooms are attached in rows of tree or four.They desperately need soundproofing.We were there four nights had a room at the end of a row.The first night was wonderful. Nice staff good enough food...Peace and quite.Or so we thought.Day two we got neighbors checking in and it all went down hill from there.We could hear EVERTHING going on next door.Their conversation and laughter the bathroom  door opening and closing their toilet flushing they TV their foot steps.And its not that they were particularly loud.You get the picture and yes we had acoustics of them having s*x at 4am in the morning waking us up.So.If you are not into all the annoyance of so much sound around its a great place to stay.Also just keep in  mind that the rest of the village was shut down.A mini market is available and two three places we found open to eat at.The hammams are located in another hotel down the road.I know next time to pick another hotel at least.TAKE CARE

Exellent location near the broder Kulata. 
Coisy, large rooms in rustic style with balcony. 
Profesional and warm staff. 
Thermal baths nearby (This time we did not had time to visit and test the benefit of the Hamam Bath but is on the list for the next time will be the guests of this hotel)
All of tis make this Xilino Chorio a nice and firendly place.
Look out! GPS or Waze can full you by introducing the name of the village. There is no Angistron, Agiston sau Agistro in Grece - the correct name is Akgistro but even writing like that the GPS can indicate a wrog location.  The same advice for puting the name of the Hotel on GPS or Waze (there is no Xilino Chorio or Xilino Horio near to the Kulata border). The only way that you are not taking the risk to turn around and around is to put the coordinates on the device.

Nice & friendly

Spectacular location , lovely decor and ambiance , stellar cuisine, the meat is outstanding 
Local dishes, great local wines , we like Mellidis wines, excellent meal and service
This is a destination! 
Looks like a great place for long weekends or when visiting the Serres and sidirokastro areas 

Lunch at the restaurant 

The hotel is beautiful and very well kept.
When we visited, it was relatively quiet.  It is close to the baths, where you can relax.  In fact, reservations can be made directly from the hotel.
The restaurant is also beautiful and quite, with delicious dishes.

Beautiful and quite

We stayed for a night. The location is really breathtaking. The hotel is  very good and clean. The staff is friendly, helpful, warm and smiley. Breakfast was very very good. It’s the perfect place for relax! Don’t miss the Hammam, it’s very close to the hotel. Highly recommended the tavern! 

Just wonderful place!

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 4. We had high hopes for the place as we had read good reviews and one of the highlights was going to be the outdoor swimming pool that we thought would be quiet and peaceful and set in the mountains.
The setting is beautiful with wooden chalets set in gardens and trees and a separate dining area with nice views. Our rooms were spacious and clean and the grounds are well maintained.
We ate in the restaurant on one night and food was nice- service a bit mixed and slow at times. Local children came to the restaurant quite late which slowed the service down. There was also a local dog that was sitting under our table whilst we were eating and licking our feet and then waiting for food! The local village is only a 10 minute walk with a shop and couple of restaurants ( which were very good value). 
Unfortunately a couple of issues ruined the stay for us- the swimming pool is used by the local village children to the point where there were up to 20 children ( mainly teenage boys) who took over the whole pool so we couldn’t even use it, we were constantly being splashed and a ball being hit around that nearly hit us on several occasions. We ended up leaving the pool as it was noisy and stressful.
The concept of the facilities being offered to the local children is great, and they all seemed to have a great time and were polite and well behaved, but when we had paid quite a lot of money to stay somewhere that we hoped would be quiet and peaceful and expected to be using the pool only with other paying guests it was fairly disappointing., especially when we couldn’t even use the pool due to the kids completely taking it over with a ball game. If the hotel had communicated this to us or it was advertised that the pool is also used by the locals then that would be different- we would then have booked somewhere else or chosen our times of when to use the pool.
The other issue we encountered was with a dog! A local dog kept following us and coming to our rooms and then started biting at our feet ( more in a playful way than aggressively) and then bit and broke my daughters lilo ( that she had bought especially  to use at the pool!)  I explained the  situation to the staff and they refunded the cost of  the lilo.
Overall, we were disappointed with our stay especially when it was a more expensive hotel than others we had stayed in. The concept  of the locals using the facilities and the local dog are clearly culturally acceptable ( and nice!) but this needs to be communicated to paying guests and managed better. We had hoped for a peaceful stay and were dissapointed.

Beautiful setting but not as peaceful as we had hoped.

I have visited the hotel due to a very stringent need and also because one of my friends mentioned it. I had arrived there and, unbelievable, one of the best places I have tried in my life. Everything is beautiful, the natural landscape, the yard, the rustic wooden houses, the interior of the room, the restaurant with traditional mountain greek recipes. Really a place to go for a holiday. I must mention that they have a traditional turkish bath (hamam) and for the summer days a beautiful outdoor pool. I will visit the place as a destination in one of my next holidays. 

Unbelievable 

Just wonderful place. The location is magical. Our "сottage" was lovely. Also the room was very clean. The outdoor pool was great. We had an amazing value for money dinner. Everybody was kind and helpful. The service was excellent.Also, it is a pet friendly place.

Summer vacations

 Just for a night, in transit, we discovered this beautiful place in a small greek village, near Bulgarian border, in a forest, inside the mountains.
  Good location, good staff and very good food including the breakfast also! Congratulation!
