Stayed here August 2012 for 2 weeks self, husband, teenage son and girlfriend - booking the villa was rather indulgent for 4 people as it is very spacious and even when fully occupied would still be lots of room and freedom! The view from this villa is the real winner, every morning and every evening the vista unfolds to show you a new scene out over the bay, the islands and the mountains, just absolutely spectacular panorama.

Villa is up a made road up a hill (quite steep but ok if you take it steady - early morning and evening is best!) There is plenty of parking space on the property, there is a steep drive then a level area beneath olive and mandarin trees for shade. The villa was still having a bit of renovation done at the time of our visit so the floors in the bedrooms were patchy with rough concrete where the tiles had been taken up and there was some decorating required where various places had been rewired. All of the bedrooms were large, comfortable and had their own lovely en suite. All had doors onto the upper balcony and all had shades, air con and window mosquito screens. Downstairs is open plan and very spacious with several settees so you can relax in the air con if you need to! There are twin patio doors out onto the balcony and windows all around that can be opened, all have fitted mosquito fly screens which are really good and make the holiday so much more pleasurable! 

The kitchen is quite old and there is not much worktop space. I was disappointed that the oven smoked (from lack of use) when I wanted to cook a roast but that couldn't have been anticipated by the owners unless they used it I guess. Dimitris is a fabulous host, he lives nearby in Nafplion and will help you with anything at all that you need or want to know.

We had a great holiday. Plenty of places to shop and eat in Tolo itself. Great market in Nafplion and more cosmopolitan feel to the restaurants and Old Town. Villa Tolo couldnt be better placed for exploring the Peloppenese - we visited so many places which are all within easy driving distance. Epidauros was our favourite place but we also had a 2 hour drive over to Sparta (has to be done even though theres not much there!) and Mistras (spectacular byzantine village just further on from Sparta). Mycaenae is on your doorstep, you're about a 10 minute drive to the national main road.  We bought the Blue Planet Guide book which covered the region and was very useful for us to be independent explorers as the info and directions is a bit hit and miss as you're driving. We visited many more places than I can type here.

All in all, the villa didn't have quite the luxury I was hoping for but would I go back? Yes! Hopefully the renovations will be complete next time I go!

Large villa, fantastic views, up a hill but walkable distance to Tolo

Tolo is a charming village at the seaside, located really close to many points of interests. You can visit Athens without any problems, using a car or public transport. You can visit also the islands, especially Hydra is worth visiting. The house is located on the hill, with a great view to the sea and the village. And it is only 10 minutes walking distance to the nearest beach. The house is very comfortable and the landlord is hospitable and helpful in any situation. We spent two weeks here together with 5 friends and we can really strongly recommend this place. Halina and Andreas from Poland
