One couldn’t ask for more. Mpelleiko has charm out the wazoo and amazing views. The decor is warm and eclectic; our room was very comfortable. Breakfast was creative and delicious. But the hospitality shone above everything else. Nena is the consummate host: providing warmth, charm, and unsurpassed local knowledge, making our stay here something we’ll always remember.

A memorable experience!

Well what can I say  that others haven't? Beautiful room with stunning view over village and side small seating garden area to enjoy a drink. Short walk down hill to the centre of the village to one or two places to eat on an evening. Nena is welcoming, knowledgeable about places to visit locally and further afield. She personally cooks breakfast in her kitchen/diner. Lovely fresh picked ingredients and traditional recipes.   Shared kitchen/fridge facilities but very quiet when we were there so ideal. Even sorted me out with a mosquito cream from her first aid box! Lovely lady who has the taken this family owned premises for many years, to an established B & B business. Very highly recommended

Well What Can I Say That Others Haven't? Perfect Stay

This house was the best of our stay in Greece. Nena is the best host of all…helping us with the Lousios Gorge hike, checking up on us to be sure we were not lost, and helping us plan our hike. She’s a tremendous cook and made us spectacular homemade breakfasts from her garden. The house is quiet, peaceful, comfortable and set up n the side of the hill with a beautiful view of the pretty town . The beds were comfy and the setting beautiful. This is a spectacular place. Nena is such a pleasure, dont miss the opportunity to stay here. I loved the small garden outside, the nice walk down to the village, and the personal touch that came with everything. Easy communication and Nena just took care of everything. A joy! We hiked the entire Lousios Gorge from Stemnitsa to Dimitsana. She insisted on getting us a cab which relieved my anxiety about finding a cab to get home. Terrific!

The Best Stay ever!

beautiful house, tastefully decorated. Nena prepares extraordinary breakfasts, cooked by herself and her mother (a pastry cook). She has excellent advice on what to see, how to get there, and which tavernas to eat at. I suppose the rates are mid range, though at the cheaper end but the house is luxury class. Nena will also talk Greek politics with you. Not the Greece of the tourist brochures, but real Greece - hospitable, not on the make, and with a cuisine to die for. A good base for the Lousios gorge and some extraordinary monasteries.

Real hospitality

Other members of my family stayed at the Mpelleiko Guesthouse earlier this year and could not stop talking about their experience. My already high expectations were met and then some! What a gem! The guesthouse is a home away from home--cozy and comfortable with outside terraces, gardens, and spectacular views overlooking Stemnitsa. Nena, the owner and host uses the produce from the gardens to prepare delightful and unforgettable breakfasts. She is a source of knowledge about the area and the Melanon Trail, which is such a bonus. A stay at the Mpelleiko Guesthouse, is one you you will not forget!

A Gem in Stemnitsa!

The property is gorgeous inside and out. Well-tended gardens along sitting balconies and patios lead to the  interior spaces which have been tastefully modernized while leaving plenty of historic magic. The view looking down on the town and across the valley is probably worth the reasonable price for the room -- yet despite the spectacular view, there's an easily traversed path that takes one down to the city square and back up with minimal effort.  

Perhaps most welcome, was the home cooked Greek breakfasts in the dining room with the owner, Nena, who grew up in the village. Nena provides tailored suggestions on what to see and do in the area. Turns out she's also an avid hiker who was instrumental in the creation of the Melanon Trail, something we had on our list. The trail, one of the best you can find in any country,  takes you city to city, past monasteries, and across rivers in the Arcadian region.

In all my wife's and my travels to Europe, this is one of the most special places we've ever stayed.

World Class Hospitality from a Local

Mpellieko showcases the essence of Greece: generous hospitality, beautiful surroundings inside and out, and delicious food, featuring Greek delicacies served up by owner and host Nena, much of which is grown in the lush gardens that surround the Guesthouse. 

The property has been in Nena's family since 1650, and her love for her heritage and culture shows through in her thoughtful attention to every detail. 

Nena is also intimately familiar with the entire Melanon Trail, a series of eight hiking trails build on old mule paths that wind through the breathtaking scenery of region, linking the various villages of the region.

Staying at Mpellieko is a fabulous immersion into all that makes the Arcadian region so special-- a stay there is worth planning your trip around! 

Magical Experience

I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to have stayed at this charming, somewhat isolated guesthouse in the equally charming and traditional Arcadian mountain village of Stemnitsa. 

   Aside from the ample space in the room, the beautiful gardens all around the property and immaculate views made it a place I wanted to just absorb and relax in while the sun set and the sky changed colors.  

Our host was not only incredibly kind, warm, and wonderful, but she also was a fascinating person to get to know with a rich and diverse background.  

  I was only to spend one night this time, but I look forward to coming back to spend several nights there in the fall. 

   

Can't Imagine Something Better

Nena was the loveliest host and cared a lot about our experience. The room and view and breakfast were all wonderful. The attention to providing hiking directions, driving directions, firewood, cold water and homemade food were all impeccable. Her mom makes jams for the breakfast that are incredible and she creates a congenial atmosphere with other guests. Recommend so highly!!  This is the best value of the places we stayed on the peninsula. We wish her every success!!

Delightful stay near hiking trails - best hostess!

The hostess of this guesthouse is special and doing amazing. Her guesthouse is beautiful and neatly kept on the exterior and interior. She makes you feel incredibly welcome, asking everything is alright and providing you with insider's information throughout your stay. She serves homemade breakfast and stays in the kitchen for questions. 

The guesthouse is from the 17th century and its rooms have a traditional interior. They are spacious and have terraces. The view onto the village and deep valley is magnificent. The village is traditional too: there is a silver shop, bakery and cosy square with tavernes. 

There are many hiking options in the region. We went to an orthodox monastry on a cliff. Its location is stunning and it is special to be the guests of the monks that still live here. It was a 2hour hike 
with amazing viewpoints and river crossings. This is just an example of a route, there are many more. 

I extremely recommend this place to all wanting to experience inland, mountainy Greece!
