Each room was beautiful, especially the suites of the 2nd floor. Breakfast was on demand, simple but tasteful homemade by mother. Service and cleanliness perfect. Although quite near of main square of the village, which is full of good taverns and cafes,   (more expensive than usual), the approach of hotel is quite difficult, due to paved narrow "streets" and inclination. No cars allowed to enter the village. Young couples with babies and old ones or anybody with kinetic problems has to communicate with the hotel. The view from hotel, as from any place, is astonishing. Quietness is profound.

A nice place mainly for young ones

We wanted to explore Pelion and decided to stay in Makrinitsa as a convenient base. We chose to stay at Archontiko Koilia, a recently tastefully restored old stone house, typical of the area, with five or six rooms, run by a local family. Our expectations were surpassed by the cleanliness of the comfortable rooms, the excellent service and the amazing views of the gulf of Volos. Eleni the owner and her daughter Christina, prepared breakfast every morning using home grown tomatoes, cucumbers and eggs from their own chickens. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and comprised, apart from the usual stuff, of typical dishes of the area like kotopitta (chicken pie) chortopitta (vegetable pie), freshly baked bread and cakes, locally produced honey, fresh figs and a lot more. 
Travellers considering staying ar Archontiko Koilia should travel light as the location is such that you cannot park near the premises and luggage has to be carried a couple of hundred metres uphill on cobbled pathways. Don't let this deter you however as the service and hospitality are excellent and the views from the upstairs front rooms and the patio area especially amazing. Our room, which was named after Terpsichori, the ancient muse of dance, was upstairs and had a balcony overlooking the gulf. The only drawback was that the toilet was inside the shower cubicle but this did not prove to be a problem as the cubicle was quite roomy. We greatly enjoyed our stay at Archontiko Koilia and would recommend it highly.

A breath of Volos, superb Hotel with a fantastique view to the mountains and the sea, there is a calmnes here, and that allow people to take off their armour, and turned to a new way of life; the owner is very friendly, his meals unique; to recommend; perhaps you need to rent a car; very nice walks.
