We booked this hotel from 30.9.-02.10. Three adults and a dog. I must say that I am disabled and depend on accessibility. This hotel presents itself as disabled-friendly and barrier-free, and animals are allowed. This is exactly what I was looking for. And because of the positive reviews on the web, i booked it immediately!!!!! I was so looking forward to staying there, because the description and reviews online were very good!
Well, the truth was unfortunately just the opposite. The room was dirty, in the bathroom the toilet was raised, as it should be for the disabled, but the toilet seat and the toilet lid were missing, rust & mold everywhere, on the bedsheet and pillow were old blood stains to see. As far as safety goes the door handles were partly broken, you had to press with a lot of force, otherwise you risked the door remained open. One can imagine disabled people can’t use a lot of force. This is self explanatory! Access to the breakfast room was only down some stairs to reach, otherwise you had to go outside of the hotel through a back exit! For non disabled people this is of course no problem at all but like I said, I have a walking disability, can barely lift my feet off the ground and use crutches for everyday life and a walker at home, which means I rely on help from others.
To top it all, when I was on my way to the breakfast room, i was alone and because of the stairs i needed help. A nice cleaning lady helped me with the stairs... but since there was not even a handrail, to hold on to, the nice cleaning lady asked a kitchen staff member to briefly help us in order for me to walk up the 10 steps. She replied, without looking at us, that she couldn't and didn't have time. And she calmly continued cutting the cucumbers.. So we then very slowly were able to go up those steps, just the two of us. 
Conclusion is that we barely endured 2 nights there, and then changed to a super hotel that was really barrier-free and clean!!!! There I could finally shower and sleep and from the friendliness of the staff and the EXCELLENT BREAKFAST we are thrilled. The hotel is called, "DOMOTEL XENIA VOLOS"!

⚠️So who really depends on BARRIER FREE and the help of his fellow men should NOT BOOK HERE AT HOTEL KALLONI.


⚠️ Don’t book here! Dirty and bad

This hotel is a 6Euro taxi ride from the town. My first impression was that I would be isolated, but I walked for 3 mins and found the sea and lots of cafes aand restaurants open. It was easy to find somewhere to eat that evening.
However, the hotel was what you would expect for 3*. Reception was very sparse and no welcome was offered. I was not told anything about breakfast etc and where to find it. I had to find my own way around. Total lack of ambience. It served it's purpose for a stopover on the way to the islands and thankfully, the very typical tavaerna I found with tables on the beach made up for anything lacking here. I've got to say that I was here n April so they were just opening up for the season, but that's still no excue - if they are open then they should be open!

Stopover to Islands

We booked this hotel via the internet we were disappointed. The room was very basic, no kettle in the room to make a brew ,the bathroom needs modernising desperately, the breakfast was the same every day, not varied. 
One day we didn’t get any sheet for our bed, and another day we had blood stains on our sheet!!.
I’m afraid we will not be staying here again!!!
You need a car if you want to get around, but car parking is ok.
The pool area is ok. 
The staff are helpful enough .


Very basic needs modernising

“the whole experiance was fabulous from check in to check out ... small and very friendly hotel and staff ... few minutes walk to beach front area with everthing you need but still very authentic as mainly used by locals ... if you want a proper greek feel area this is it, but many small bars and restaurants along the front plus a good supermarket and a couple of bakerys ... lovely location of this hotel and very well kept inside and out, lovely breakfast area overlooking the garden and the food was lovely.”

FORGET THE BIG RESORTS - TRY THIS

I have read a lot of bad comments and I was a little bit afraid, but the stay has run normal and didn't have any big issue.
Accessible stay with big parking, quiet, with a decent breakfast. 
Near the city and the mountain. 
Good for a city break.

If you want to stay here, you should know that overall is ok, the breakfast is good, tasty, variated, the beach is pretty close, but the bathroom and the furniture is kind of old. Doors are creaking when someone opens it and closes it and you can hear if somone talks in the near room.
Also the internet is very slow.

Ok-ish experience

I have chosen this hotel for a night on my way to Athens, and arrived in the middle of the night.

The guy at the reception was quick and friendly, so it was pleasant quick to get a room. 

The room itself is a normal standard, all without luxury, but clean. 

The breakfast was, as I thought: very basic, but as well ok. 

For my occasion of a night over, it was the perfect choose, and the price for 35,- Euro a night including breakfast was reasonable without doubt. 

I would not like to stay there for a week for example. 

As it is wintertime, not many people were at the hotel apparently.
