If we had booked the hotel as an intermediate accommodation after arriving at the airport later, we would have done it exactly like that. We were picked up very reliably and on time for free and were in the hotel after about two minutes' drive. The staff immediately helped us with the suitcases and built the baby bed together with us. The room was very clean, size was also ok, air conditioned. There was nothing to chew on here so the price performance was not too high.

Top price/performance

Pros:
The building has 5 rooms, all of which have their own bathrooms but share a common kitchen. Each room has its own mini fridge. Two of the rooms upstairs have a small balcony with nice views. The building looks well maintained and hygienic. I found my matrass to be comfortable and slept ok.
The area is pretty and the sea water is crystal clear and nicely warm.

Cons:
As there are 5 independent rooms, your experience here will partially depend on who your fellow guests are. We had someone tapping something that sounded like metal pipes at midnight for who knows what reason.
Furthermore, the area seems to be a bit "middle of nowhere-ish" and the nearest (and one of only a few) village seems to be quite poor. Eating out there, for as far as eating out is possible, results in lots of curious eyes, even when dressed casually.

All in all Rena's house itself is a nice place to be with a genuinly friendly owner.


Nice house

5 Clean and tidy rooms overlooking the fields at the back (one room facing the road) and the Black Mountains beyond. Well stocked communal kitchen and reception area. Amiable hosts, free parking, air conditioning, free wifi, fridge freezers etc.  A great place to be based for bird watching in the national park in the Spring and Autumn. Good sandy beaches nearby. Tavernas nearby also, but you will need a car here. Good walking too.

A good place to explore The Strofylia National Park

It's conveniently located, close to the national park, a huge beach, airport... and not far from the port of Killeen. There is a common kitchen (thanks for the morning coffee).

That's a good gesture for one night.

Booked Rena's House as very close to Araxos Airport for early start. Arrived late afternoon as agreed to find room was not prepared and had to wait for completion. Sparsely furnished and in need of a makeover. Allowed use of kitchen but only limited facilities - no kettle and only a tiny coffee saucepan to heat milk/water.
Our early breakfast included bread, fruit,yoghurt, cheese, etc was a diy affair left for us the previous evening but overpriced at 8 Euros each.
Rena's son, Giorgos was most helpful and provided a free shuttle service to and from the Airport.
