We were charged $124 a night for ten nights. This was just for the apartment as they don’t provide meals. Rooms were superficially cleaned each day but towels were not changed daily. Equipment in the kitchen area was basic.  Beds were comfortable however. 

Pool was unheated. Restaurants nearby were good. 

We are now staying in a 4 star hotel on the other side of Lake Atitlan at $160 a night and the difference is noticeable. 

I guess we expected more for the money.

Hi had a similar experience that a few others stated.  They canceled my reservation without notifying me.  Luckily I found out before I left home.  

This hotel was recommended by my trekking company.  Thus, I made a reservation with Orbitz (they weren't on Booking.com).  I noticed this hotel is shown as "permanently closed" on my iPhone map app.  So I e-mailed the property and if they were still open.

The hotel responded that yes they are still open, but my reservation had been canceled.  They don't work with Expedia and my reservation was the wrong price.  (Expedia and Orbitz are part of the same company).

I had a perfectly good reservation Orbitz that I was allowed to purchase on their web site.  I don't understand.  If this hotel doesn't work with Orbitz and Expedia, then why was I allowed to purchase a reservation through Orbitz?   

Further, why didn't the hotel bother to notify me or Orbitz?  I'm lucky that I happened to contact them prior to my trip.  Otherwise I would have shown up and they would have also told me the don't accept my valid Orbitz reservation - and probably asked for more money.

I booked instead at the Hotel Mikaso nearby.

Staying at Hotel Sakcari was a great experience. Location is great, they are restaurants and coffee places in the same road and few minutes walking to the dock and main restaurants and bars  View is spectacular! Atmosphere is quiet. Owners are very friendly and  are directly involved in the maintenance and that is why is nit...everything works perfectly.. they live in the property. I will definitely coming back!

I have pre booked and paid for a lake view room for this hotel online using Chase travel. I arrived at the hotel yesterday just before it got dark and after hiking Acatenango and 3+ hours shuttle drive from Antigua. The younger woman who greeted me at the gate, asked for my name and walked away and did not open the gate (kinda rude).  An older woman opened the gate few minutes after, and spoke to me in Spanish about cancelling my reservation. She explained to me in Spanish that the rate I paid for was not correct for the lake view room and asked me to cancel my reservation and then pay extra $36+ on top of the rate I paid for. I explained to her that my online booking is nonrefundable and if I cancel I will not get a refund, and end up paying 2x for the same room. She showed me the lake view room that I booked to show me the exceptional lake view which I truly admired. I told her that was the room I booked. After a very long going back and forth, with a translator on the phone, she gave me a regular room without a view. I was really tried and they refused to give me the room without paying extra which is not a lot of money but out of principle I also refused to pay. 

I waited until today to leave a review so I could explain the situation better and not out of anger. It's low season right now, and I did not see a single guest at the hotel.  The lake view room remained unoccupied. It would not have costed them more money or lose money, for me to occupy the lake view room. Customer service does not exist in this hotel. Check out time is 1PM. As I was about to leave at 1254PM, loud knock on my door and the older guy shouted something in Spanish which I assume was a reminder to check out. Again, very rude.

The hotel location is about 8 minutes walk from the center, and there are some restaurants close by.  The room I got was sufficient with a fan and private bath. They have a small pool with lake view which is ok.  They have free purified water, tea and coffee which are available anytime. I only booked for 1 night and was planning on extending it for another night, which of course I did not. 

There are many lodging options in San Pedro with lake view. I do not recommend this hotel because of their rudeness and lack of customer service. I filed a complaint against this hotel with Chase Travel.

Did not accept paid online booking for lake view room, wanted more money.

I made a reservation yesterday and forgot to add one of my kid by mistake who is 5 years old and they wanted to charge me 500 quetzales for an extra room and the front desk guy was very rude. Keep in mind I order a multi family room. He was trying to taken advantage and he started arguing with me. I end up NOT staying there and Expedia was trying to get my refund back by a refund waiver and they denied it even tho I didn’t stay there. The front desk guy even followed me to the exit and was still arguing with me. Very rude service. Don’t stay there. Also nothing like the pictures on Expedia. If I can give it at -1 believe me I would. They kept my money and I didn’t even stay there.

A very clean apartment surrounded by lush gardens which provide much privacy.  Attentive staff.  Lake front swimming pool. Within the original barrio area which is where everything is close at hand.  I was a bit concerned it might be noisy, but no.  A tuk tuk will get you almost to the door. The kitchen is about the best one can hope for; gas stove, oven, micro, toaster oven, coffee maker, purified water, cleaning service check every day, good mattresses.  No bugs.  Reasonable monthly rates.  Quiet. Wonderful hot showers.  Not your usual apartment, this is something special, you will feel at home and at peace.

Good view of the volcanoes, but rooms can be a lil better. Great service, though. Closer to food locations.
Great place to just hangout and listen to birds and watch the lake waters over the volcanoes. Town is very cute too. 
We felt like we could stay here for at least a week.

One of our stops back packing in Guatemala, we stayed two nights. Nice clean and friendly staff. Close to center and lots of restaurants close by. Also fairly close to take the boat to Santiago. Very close to tour operators.

Lady owner doesn’t have a clue what customer service is... I came with my mother and she was awful, it seemed she didn’t want us there. She was rude!! Bad experience!!! I travel around the world and I have never been treated like that, the most sad thing is that I haven’t been there since 2015 in my own country.

This place has some amenities like free kayaks but the woman owner is money grubbing and difficult to deal with.  They are already double or triple the price of other similar places in town but because I booked on Expedia she gave me a small service member closet behind the reception near the entrance.  After asking for a different room and offering to pay more she wanted pretty much another nights rate for a slightly better room.  

Far from the dock and in a small alley.  They’re living off their TripAdvisor score and even then they can’t fill the place because they’re triple the price for no real reason.  

The workers are nice and will help with unloading kayaks but the owner is something else.
