We wanted to chill between polo and this was the right place. We had been upgraded so had a suite with large jacuzzi bath and seating area. Four poster bed and view over the pool on one side and inner courtyard on the other. Room clean. It is a B&B so they don't make the beds...just empty bins and change towels if asked (extra charge). Breakfast was served inside in a room on the ground floor but was rather dark...the weather was lovely but there was no outside area suitable. It was good with a wide selection. The pool was clean. Helpful staff so had a nice break. Good location for everything we wanted to see.

Quirky but good!

We felt very well at the Castle Hotel Sir David. The castle and the whole complex are very well maintained and very beautiful. Also the view of the Balaton is a dream and the lake itself is only a few meters away. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and very clean. At first we wanted to stay only two nights but when we were there, we liked it so much that we spontaneously extended our stay. The family and personal service also helped make us feel comfortable around. Many thanks to the housewife Anita, who really fulfilled every wish and made our stay even more pleasant by her kind and loving way. We can really recommend this hotel to everyone, and the historical charm of the hotel has made the hotel service personal.

Beautiful hotel with magnificent views of the Balaton

We needed to book a hotel near Lake Balaton as a stop during a long drive across Eastern Europe. We have stayed near the lake several times and this hotel seemed interesting. The property and building are indeed impressive. The breakfast was very good. The room was fine, but no amenities such as soap/shampoo, hair drier, etc. The welcome was not the best we experienced in our travels. We arrived at 9 p.m., about an hour before the front desk closes. The receptionist rushed us through check-in (we supposed in order to leave earlier). There is no restaurant at the hotel, so we went to a nearby restaurant. When we arrived back to the hotel (which is quite large), there were no outdoor lights and we needed to use the light of a cellphone to navigate along the dark steps and sidewalks.

Hotel/Castle on Lake Balaton

I had a booking for 2 days in the honeymoon suite. Both nights were paid in advance. We have called the place 2 days before the arrival that we will be late. They said that it is not a problem they will give our key to the receptionist...NO ONE TOLD US TO ARRIVE UNTIL 10 PM!! We have arrived to the address which was given, 2nd, Nyár street. The entrance was from a totally different street, hard to find in the darkness. We have found the gate at 11:25 pm, tried to ring the bell, call them, but no one answered. After we were trying to get in for 1 hour unsuccessfully, we went away to find an other hotel for that night. Everything was full booked so we had to sleep in the car. In the morning at 7 am we went back to the gate. No answer again. At 7:30 one of the workers, a lady was coming out by a car. I tried to ask for help from her but she was extremly rude!! Without saying Good morning, just said: NO FREE ROOM! I tried to tell her our story that we have a booking just could not get in the day before...but she interrupted me that she has no time for it she has to go and buy breakfast, let her away! I went back to my car, wanted to turn back to give place for here but she started to push me by her car, and started to shout with us!! I had to came down from that very tiny street with the back of the car. We were shocked about this "welcome". At 8 am they finally answered our phone and let us in. We tried to tell our problem to the receptionist man, but he did not give us an answer for anything, no one said a sorry, no compensation, nothing!! Like when you are talking to someone who is not hearing you. We stayed after a night there, The young lady who was one time at the receptionist one time at the breakfast was very kind. But as I am working in the same area I would talk to the elder lady to think about how she should talk with the guests!!! Problem solving is 0!!
To tell some positive as well, nice view, nice room.

Terrible welcome

Edit and her husband hosted us in this castle with a unique view of Lake Balaton. We were 9 friends on a motorcycle and we took the 2 apartments on the first floor. They made available to us in addition to the structure, their entire experience as hotel guests, with direct directions on the places to see, the restaurants where to eat and all the venues of the lake night life. Edit speaks very well Italian having studied in Italy. Very nice and available, able to coccolate all customers. We also used the pool in the park for a nice relaxing bath and a warm shower outdoors.

A Fairy tale life in a real castle

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for a week at the beginning of August. It was a wonderful experience, the suite is fabulous, the perfect hotel location (a few meters from the beach, in a beautiful park, and among the vineyards). The breakfast is excellent and abundant and the staff is absolutely delicious. Any problems with the WiFi in our room, promptly solved. We will definitely be back next year! Thank you!

It's beautiful.

The only thing you can enjoy here is the view. To the hotel and to the lake. To the beach it is too far (over the road+railway) and in the evening it is completely locked and over, you absolutely do not get to the water, breakfast is very barren, and that - in Hungary: (((, no minibar, you are sent to the village to shop. In the room next to the bed 1.80 the mattress is 1.60 and the pillows are so thin that you can read it. And there are also no add-ons on request. The neighbor has several large dogs on his property that barking continuously, even at night...

It's beautiful on the outside.

If you want a particular living room, you're in the right place! The structure is that of a castle from the early 20th century, renovated and turned into a hotel about 15 years ago. And like all castles, there is a tower and a medieval dining room/breakfast. The structure is new, as are the decorations, but eat on massive chairs that pick up the medieval style, surrounded by a fresco depicting hunting scenes and certainly a nice experience.

Strategic location and quiet accommodation

Well, this time I don't want to write usual review like blah-blah this was good, that was not. As a sign of my respect to extremely kind personnel and Dora I want to write a little guide to future travelers about how to get the most fun and positive during your trip here. So:

1. Be sure that you have repellent, shampoo and shower gel with you.

2. There is no free beach near the hotel and you have three options: a) beach near the hotel. It is small and without much fun. It is ok for short-term visit; b) Balatonszepezd beach at left side of hotel. It is quite big and equipped with many play ground, cafes, etc. It can be good for the full day visit; c) Revfulop beach at right side of the hotel. It is also big and close to the most active area of the city. 

3. The closest ATM is near Coop grocery store at Revfulop.

4. If you want to eat outside, you can visit the Toth restaurant at right of the hotel. It is not cheap, but have a good atmosphere and tasty food.

5. Near the Toth restaurant you can find closest grocery store as well. Another option is Coop store, mentioned above. But it is a bit deeper in Revfulop.

6. Generally, if you are looking for some fun, check the Revfulop center near the beach area - gaming machines, restaurants, boat cruises, museum, etc.

7. And don't forget about free bicycles for your disposition in the hotel!

Living in the Castle

Hotel staff were very friendly. We were there without reservation and got the honeymoon suite for 100 euros. Very large and beautiful with whirlpool. Everything very old fashioned. Unfortunately everything was quite worn out and calcified. But for one night it was perfect. Good breakfast. Unfortunately no dinner. You have to walk 1.5 km. Right at Balaton (50m).
