Very cheap. Very friendly people appear to be running it. Had my room ready early. Room is very basic. This is not a hotel. It’s a hostel. Shower very strong. Very clean all round. Bed very basic. Won’t be comfortable for everyone. Quiet. Sign says 24/7 bar. There is no bar!

Basic but does the job

Nice hostel, comfortable beds, lock system, nice staff,  close to cafe and main area, flexible check in. Cheap stay, easy to goto airport by bus, 5 min away from metro station and all main trams. Recommened

Decent hostel for cheap price, for budget stay

I liked the flexibility and the helpfulness of the personnel (an elderly guy). The location was excellent. Obviously the price was very reasonable.
What I didn't like, firstly the smell. The entire facility  was smelling of cigarettes. The bed was smelling of the previous guests. It was disgusting.
The room was not clean either. There were suspicious marks everywhere in the room, in the bathroom, on the wall, etc. I have found a lot of different hair in my bed, which was not mine. So I am not entirely sure that the bed sheets were changed.
The tap at the shower cabin was malfunctioning. I had to keep pushing it during talking a shower, otherwise it immediately stopped.
The walls are really thin. However, I didn't want to, but I learnt the domestic life of the fellow guest next door, and in the middle of the night I woke up, because a lady was enjoying the love very loudly. It was accompanied by the snoring of the guy next door. (I have to tell you here, it is very hard to wake me up.)
However, the price was reasonable, I would suggest this place only the ones, who have a high level of tolerance.

I understand that it's cheap, but...

First of all the actual apartment we rent was not in the building that was indicated in the website, it was still near but it was not indicated anywhere on the hostel page when we rent and we found out the real position just when we arrived there.

The apartment was quite big and as shown on the website, however really dirty: old stained sofas and armchairs, dirty bed lining, hair in the bathroom, dirty plates.
Plus on the website it was said that we'd find towels, however they were small and smelly.

In general the the apartment didn't look very safe, since it was in an old apartment complex on the ground floor and with the bedroom window giving on the street. It was really noisy during the night due the really old heating system.

WiFi was working.



Didi-disappointend

I strongly advice against this place! We live here, exactly above the hostel, and every night there are some event because of you can't sleep. Guests shouting or fighting through hours so loudly in the middle of the night. Can't bear it...

Loudly af

Nice place to have a cold one when passing by. Will definetely come here next time I come to Budapest. Pretty cheap beer with friendly staff. Much better option than main street bars. Very friendly atmosphere.

Friendly bar

Having spent 3 nights at HoBar, I have mixed feelings. The hostel is small and managed by young people in their early twenties and it shows. 

The hostel is a bar as well. Staff is hanging out there with friends or I don´t know who all day. Some drinking beer from morning. It feels like they are more comfortable there than the actual guest of the Hostel, who is just trying pass through the bar to the hostel part. 
If you are even slightly sensitive about your sleep I would not recommend the hostel. You can hear everything. I did not sleep much two out of three nights, because I guess one of the staffers is getting through the night shift with some music on till like 4 am. You can purchase a breakfast (3EUR) and it is a bun with ham and cheese every days + beverages. So weigh your options.

Positive: location, price, clean and we could storage our baggage in locked space till our departure (very aprreciated!!)

To sum up, being in my late twenties I am more about comfort and calm, so I did not like the paper thin walls and people who do not respect night time.
