Well maintained and managed hotel in a beautiful environment, just a stone’s throw away from Budapest / 1 hour drive /. Room was spotlessly clean, with quality bathroom amenities. We run into a once in a while BBQ show on their terrace, where Chef Sándor and guest Chef Zsolt served 10 of us within minutes with such a delicious meal, prepared in his own Bodrog Smoker, we were really impressed. Helpful staff everywhere, all in all highly recommended for a short break or even for a longer visit.

Trip tip in mountain Mátra

We have already stayed in standard room and junior suite in this hotel. We visited this 5 times altogether. 
Everytime the hotel was clean, the staff was helpful. 
I recommend to ask for a room with view of Kékes, because it's beautiful, but if you get a room with park view it's also very nice. 
The breakfast and the dinner offer wide range of food and every day there is something special, I mean wild food, typicall autumn food. I guess everybody must find something to eat. 
We also tried to bob game, it was very pleasent and we had fun. But it's important to book a time in advance because it's very busy. 
Wellness part of the hotel is also very busy during the day. Usually we visited it between 7-9 pm because it's the silent hours, only adult time. This time the pools are quite and you can swim free. 
The hotel has a forest garden, it's very good to have a walk there, sometimes the wild animals visit the hotel garden. 
The crew clean the rooms daily. It's not a big cleaning, but they make the bed and empty the trash.

The wellness was extremely noisy, I boiled not read at all, we had to go up in the room due to the loudness… 
The beds were uncomfortable!
We are the type of people that eat late, so dinner was until 10pm, however, since it was a buffet style dinner, it was empty at 9:15pm, and they did not want to refresh the buffet…
Not the place to consider coming back!

Last time at this place

respectful, going above and beyond to accommodate and make the stay a great experience! even in covid-19 situation, it is a safe place to visit. All staff wear masks, and are very precautious in terms of hygiene.

Me and my girlfriend we spent a weekend here. This place was so depressing we actually got scared and on the second night and we cannot fall asleep for a long time. The staff were acting like robots. The design of the furnishing was like in the 80s. After dinners my girlfriend got stomach ache somehow, on the breakfast the bakery wasn't fresh at all. The dinner tasted okay. The wellness is really small, the water was quite cold, and on the winter the outside sauna?? and pool is closed. We liked the sauna inside bit that's all. We were happy to leave. Not recommended!

It felt like being in a crime scene

This was the second time we went here because we liked it a lot the first time. This hotel is good to visit in any season. Its at the mountain surrounded by forest. Its beautiful.
It has a very good SPA with all type of sauna and pools and it offers an OK variety of foods in a half board configuration.
You can walk in the forest, bowl too.
The only 'complaint' I could have is that in season the prices are a bit excessive.
If you love traveling, sitting in a sauna and don't mind paying a buck, then this is definitely worth it.

PS: The gym is small and not very well provisioned.

Very good. Prices a bit high

We spent 3nights here in spring of 2018. We booked 2adults+1child.we got 2 rooms,my 11yrs old son loved he got same comfortable bed like an adult. He had own room with bathroom and tv. We asked some glu free option they could fulfill and we got a marvelous glu free cake as birthday gift. Staff were extrem friendly.we enjoyed the wellness part. if you like going excursion do not miss this hotel!

Best hotel in Hungary

The hotel is listed as 4 star hotel but it’s offering is on a far below level. Food was either overcooked or undone with rotten salad one evening. It was by far the worst dining experience I can recall having in the last 10 years. Rooms were clean when entering but the water from bathtub kept flowing out the tub, flooding the bathroom, glasses were not washed and the bed has not been made by the room cleaning service. Television in the main reception area had thick layer of dust all over it and wherever you turned, carpet had stains all over. Pool and saunas were ok though the overall impression: we were cold all the time. We have stayed for two nights and it has been more than enough of this experience. I really wanted this holiday to be a success as I Lifestyle Hotel Mátra has been in my bucket list for a few years which made this experience even more disappointing.

Overpriced with extremely poor service and amenities

This was the first and definitely the last time we are visiting this hole. The room was ok, though having an odor of some chemical. The pool and wellness was also not so bad, but the food and the service was unbelievably bad. I’m not sure how someone can think of well being with such a food. It was either raw or overcooked and everything tasted as fish ! 

Avoid at any cost

Stayed at this hotel for a few days on a tour of northeastern Hungary.  Beautiful view, nice rooms and very nice staff.   Great area for walking.  Breakfast buffets were amazing and a lot to choose from.Nice playground for children including a zip line.
