This is a lovely modern hotel with lots of space.It is in a great location with wonderful views from the terrace. We were on the first floor and there was no lift however a very helpful young member of staff carried our suitcases to our room and described all the facilities.The room was spacious with plenty of storageand a good ensuite shower room.The over head shower was not working but the hand held shower was quite sufficient.Air conditioning was very effective.The window in our room was a skylight which was fine but a view of the countryside would have been nice.There is no safe in the room.Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice and the tables were set with places named so our group could dine together.All of the staff were friendly and helpful and were happy to serve us a nightcap when we returned of an evening

Lovely Hotel in Great location for visiting the wine region

We stayed two nights as part of a wine tour taking in the Tokaj region.

The Botrytis Hotel has been subject to a programme of expansion and modernisation and is now an excellent place to stay in Mad.

Rooms are spacious with large en-suite shower rooms, comfortable with excellent air-conditioning. The only thing missing we found was a safe in our room.

Breakfast is good with sufficient choice and there is also a sauna and games room for children downstairs.

Staff are cheerful and friendly and we would definitely come back on our next tour.  

Modern hotel with lovely rooms

We stayed here for a weekend with friends and this hotel was the only available accommodation during the Furmint Festival so we went ahead and booked it.

The arrival was quite late in the evening, the front desk welcoming was quite cold, not friendly at all... They showed us the room and gave us the breakfast opening times, thats all... 

Location is really good, very close walking distance to some wineries and city centre too.

The room was very nicely made, spacious and really clean. Very comfy bed, but be aware they are separate mattresses, so make sure totell them in advance if you don't want to get into this trap... (we didn't know the double bed is actually twin here)

The breakfast is good, nice fresh pastries and cold cuts, but after 9:30 they dont really fill up anything so you need to ask separately...

There is a spa area, which is not mentioned anywhere on their website or front desk either... Its basically a sauna and jacuzzi, but still worth checking out if you want to unwind for a short time.

The check-out was not too smooth, they wanted to make us pay double, because they didn't see our pre-payment but in the end it got sorted... I just felt there could have been more focus on problem-handling, then making it into a much bigger deal...

Overall we had a good stay, we could rest well in the rooms and breakfast was plentiful.
Staff training and better accommodation info communication should be taken in mind by the owners...

Lovely hotel, service ok

We spent 5 nights here, and could so easily have spent more. It is a modern building with high ceilings throughout. Being small, gives it a very friendly personal environment, and the high quality of the staff and services completes this. We stayed in an apartment which was large, spacious and luxurious throughout. It's far bigger than what many live in, in most of our big cities. The outside terrace provided a most tranquil view of the hills, township and rolling grape vines. There is a large Spa, sauna and children's playroom downstairs, whist in the foyer there is a friendly bar with lots of local wines and palinkas to savour. The included breakfast was fantastic, with fresh fruits, cereal, yoghurt, local meats and of course the full range of warm dishes with fresh crusty bed rolls. We loved our stay here, and it no doubt was a key highlight of our 6 weeks travelling across Europe.... and by far the very best accommodation and friendliest staff.

Comfort at it's very best

The hotel is very nice and has a perfect location. The rooms are clean and very comfortable bed. The breakfast is superb!!! The staff very helpful and kind, they do everything for you to have a good time! Good wine cellar is just a minute walk.

Nice weekend

In the heart of Mád, sits this recently built, modern designed hotel. It has just a few rooms, but enlargement is coming. Helpful and friendly staff. Ideal mostly for couples and friends, but kids will also find a big playground in the basement. No warm meals are available (breakfast only) as guest are advised to visit local restaurants.

Comfy and nice

Visiting Tokaj for business trip with other friend. Amazing location and true hospitality in this very little town in Hungarian countryside. 
Facing the “Uragya” letterally “bed of the lord” where the sun give the last shine to the day.

Hotel Botrytis is a real gem butique hotel.  The staff are friendly and all spoke English. They greeted us with a nice glass of local wine and were knowledgable about the town and the region.  The rooms are spacious, very clean,  with comfortable beds.  The bathroom was not big but had a nice roomy shower.  It was clean, and well stocked with the necessities.  
Breakfasts are included and generous with a variety of breads, cheeses, cold cuts, coffee or tea.  If you request they will cook you an omelet or scrambled eggs.   
The grounds are neat with a small flower garden.
There are several great restaurants within 5-10 minutes from the hotel serving delicious food and excellent local wines. 
The location is in a quiet area.   There is a synagogue nearby with a sad history which is worth visit.   
Many of the nearby wineries are open for tours and wine tasting and also sell their wines.  Some of these wineries have cellars that are centuries old.
The region is full of historical places to explore.   The Holloházy ceramics factory in Holloháza is also worth a visit if you have the time.

We visited in October 2017 when the weather was still pleasant but cool.

Traveling with friends to tour the  North Eastern wine region, Tokaj and surroundings.  Side trips to several castles.

We visited the hotel in July and it was truly a remarkable stay. We would definitely like to go back next year since we only stayed for 2 nights at the hotel therefore we didn’t have much time to enjoy its amenities. The staff was super attentive and always looking for the opportunity to please us. They even ordered vegan breakfast for me so I don’t have to go somewhere else to eat. The breakfast was amazing and it’s included in the price which is a plus. Unfortunately they don’t keep kichen staff so there’s no restaurant in the hotel but there are two amazing restaurants in walking distance and we were really satisfied with the food as well. Percze restaurant is so far one of the best restos in the area along with Elso Madi Borhaz. I recommend both for everyone and they can come up with vegan/gluten free food on the spot or if you call ahead. The chef in Percze restaurant was way above and beyond expectation. All in all I give 5+ stars for the hotel and the experience we’ve had in Mad. Good job! We’ll be back.

Amazing staff

We were welcomed with a glass of Mad Furmint and this kind of hospitality continued throughout our stay. The room was large and beautifully decorated and all the light fittings was in the shape of grapes. The view from the lounge over the hilly Mad was stunning. We woke with the smell of freshly baked bread and skipped the hot breakfast in favour of the scrumptious laid out continental breakfast. Although the church clock across the street was very loud and the 5 minute ringing at 05:00 was not appreciated, we strongly recommend this boutique hotel.
