Stayed here for a night with some friends on a x-country bike ride.  Wasn't expecting much based on the reviews but we ended up enjoying it.  The hotel staff was friendly and attentive and on duty 24 hours. They didn't speak much English, but with my basic Hungarian and a lot of pointing and smiling, we managed to understand each other.

The room was basic, but look at the pictures and the price...you're not paying for luxury.  It was clean, linen was fresh, wifi worked in the room.   Breakfast was included and good...cooked to order eggs, good coffee, friendly staff.  They had a separate, secure room for our bikes.  

I think it's a good value for the money.

Pleasantly surprised!

This was the 4th time but not anymore. Canal smell in the hotel and in the room as well. No soap, no towel. When I asked for one I got a dirty one so I have to ask another one. Dirty  bedding as well. The cleaners are so loud in the morning. They are talking and laughing at the corridor and do not care about the guests who want to sleep. The only improvement is the WiFi. The previous time they had WiFi just around the reception.  Highly NOT recommended !

Not anymore...

A very basic hotel.  Food was good, and the beds were comfortable. Rooms weren't serviced.  Service from staff at mealtimes was good. Some rooms didn't have aircons, and some rooms didn't have fridges.  Few rooms had items that were broken.

Team tour

It is not a place never to visit, but for sure there are much better options in the area of Tatabanya and Tata.
The GPS address is wrong (TomTom) and i had to drive in circles for 40 minutes to find it - nobody can speak English or French or German on the street. 
there is free parking - hard to find the entrance and later you go in.
the receptionists i have met could speak some english and some german which was and the attitude was specific hungarian (friendly).
Later on, o the way to the room everything looks like the building was left alone for years. huge stains on the walls and on the carpets, the numbers of the room fallen down... 
in the room the same. the bathroom very narrow and old fashion. internet did not worked, on the tv some hungarian stations only - nothing in any other language.
the reason for the two points (out of 5) is due to nice breakfast and good pricing. 
still, room on the stadium side have a large balcony with view to the stadium.
if it would be refurbished maybe could get 4 to 5 classification points.

Only if it is the last free hotel in the area but huge potential

This old but somehow charming hotel used to be the accomodation place for Sport gatherings in and around Tatabanya back in the days of communism. It's attached to a huge sports court, I guess I've seen Tennis areas as well. 

The Hotel lies directly besides the old land road to Budapest a bit outside of Tatabanyas so called city center. Its a great find to spend a quiet day and visiting the nearby and widely visible Turul eagle monument in the mountains, from where You have a stunning view over the Tata valley and the nearby motorway which lies there like a band of light. Too, the lake of Tata and the nearby park is historically and naturally worth a stay! I really love Tata lake and the surroundings! The place is also a very good find if You try to avoid the stressful and sucking traffic jams during the rush hours in Budapest. Staying a night there and starting off very early the next day can make it avoided.

I think the Hotel has seen a renewal a few years ago though I haven't seen any air-cons over there. Due to the heavily communist touch of the whole interior, the roms themselves got a european standard touch and are quite the opposite of what the floors tell You to await. But the floors, too, are very clean and still in a good shape! The whole Hotel beams You back to somewhere between late 80s communism and mid-90s. 

It has a good restaurant attached to it, kinda basic but great foods! Prices are very valuable. Staff itself is quite nice and quiet.

We were booked remotely by a friend to an average room without air-con but with a very comfy bed. Was a bit warm though but even the street in front of our room didn't bother us that much! Let's say we had a quite good, average hungarian no frills stay which could have been loger without any problems! No complainings at all!
