Tihany

Stayed there  Balcsi Villa Balatonfured,  recently with a friend. Cute house with bright blue outer decor, 3 floors, outside and inside eating area. We each had a room, both with great aircon and she had a bar fridge. I highly recommend - position, cleanliness, breakfast, host. We loved it. Breakfast rools, freshly baked locally, were amaz....ing !!! Only thing I'd change is breakfast start time, 8 am. Needs to be 7 at latest.

Balcsi Villa Balatonfured

Nice people, familly run little hotel. Good location to explore lake Balaton. Good breakfast.
No air conditioning during summertime, at this location, is a mortal sin.
An effort to please is visible, but the rooms have a lot to improve besides air conditioning. Bathroom materials are extremelly flimsy, everything could fall apart at every moment if you don't have exteme care at all times.
Minibar is very weak, only next morning drinks will be cold enough.
The cooling fan provided is so small it looks like a toy but believe me, it will be your most valuable possession during your stay.
Just a few tv channels, none of them international, on old CRT tv's.
I guess the will to do things right is there, but some poor decisions have been made.

Good location to explore lake Balatón.

The apartments are furnished, clean and well-located, and there are a variety of dishes to choose from, including breakfast and dinner, and we enjoyed one of the nights (the dining room is very cozy and staffed, attentive and correct).

Good accommodation and good food.

We were guests of the pension at the beginning of June. The room was clean, the breakfast was good quality, fresh and rich. The staff was nice and helpful. There were 2 children with the family, and they really enjoyed the table-football inside, and the children games (swing, sandbox, football-field, table tennis etc.) outside. The pension is really quiet and peaceful, since it is far from the inner part of the city - but you can reach it with a not too long walk. The cycling road (which goes around Balaton) is in front of the pension, so it may be a good choice also for cyclers.

Nice accommodation in a quiet place

While Lake Balaton is stunning, it appears that after the last week of August most things shut down in the small town of Tihany. Viktoria Panzion is located about 2 km outside of Tihany so everything around the hotel is closed, including the reception desk of the hotel.

While the hotel itself is nice, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms clean, we were the only guests and were told the reception desk would close at 8 pm. We returned to the hotel around 5 to find the hotel locked with no one around. 

Even though we were the only guests, the owners returned the following morning to prepare us a good breakfast of breads, meats, and cheeses. 

I would recommend staying here in the summer. 

Do not go in the "off season"

Cheap Panzio in quite area. short walk to grass paid beach. Staff was friedly and helpfull. Public Parking is  outside the Viktoria Panzio property. In our room were spiders and ants. Cleanlines is not strong side this panzio, but when I said about ants they mount special box for fix this problem.

Quite place nearby Balaton lake

A huge plus to this boarding house is its good location in relation to Balaton and the beach. It is easy to get to the city center by bus or tourist steam locomotive. As for the rooms: it resembles a Soviet boarding house, but it is quite clean and the bathrooms, apparently, have recently been renovated! It is worth noting delicious breakfast and good wifi in the room.

There are those hotels that have no personality, that have no soul, this one is definitely to be put in this category. The feeling that everything is anything and everything is banal, from the reception to the start. I will never understand those hotels where the reception is so anonymous, a little smile, a perception that you are welcome and expected would not cost much. Likewise, why not worry if you have made a good trip, if you are not thirsty, etc... it would be so friendly and positive. We had booked for 2 days a single room, and so there was actually to be 4 people in a single family couch!

The minimum...

The location of the hotel is marvelous, as Balaton lake's grass beach and yacht club are located in 2 minutes walk . There is a free entrance to the lake too, so you'd swim right before breakfast :-)

However there is a weak WiFi signal in the rooms, so the best option for the Internet browsing is to seat down in the hotel's hall, next to the reception desk.

As part of a tour of Eastern Europe (self-dangered 5000 km in 3 weeks), we stayed in this accommodation for 2 days. Afterwards, the reviews given on booking.com, where this accommodation is excellent section, are absolutely incorrect. Buildings date back to the socialist era, 2 x 3 m for 2 people under the roof were probably good enough, pressing hot, the flight network could not stop the small flights. The window was gray-dusty with (not just fresh) bodies, one had to sleep on one's head to avoid getting the stuff in sight.
