The Hotel, which is in the old town of Tihany and has a beautiful panorama from the balcony, which is really romantic. A lake can be seen from there and the hills.  The Villa is not so far, but not so close to Lake Balaton, it can be reached by a pleasant walk.  The swimming pool was fine, it was clear and had a good temperature.  At night it was lit , which was really nice and by a bottle of champagne - wich was given by the owner - we had a great and unforgettable night. The staff was polite and nice, helped us a lot by giving advices to discover Tihany and its sights. The meal was simple but delicious, everything was fresh and they could make us anything what we want.  Summarizing the whole weekend , everything was great and nice, we liked every second during that time we were staying there. We recommend this Hotel those who wants to stay in peace and quiet and those who wants to relax in a beautiful enviroment.

Great accomodation for relaxing

We were staying at Villa Alexander few times while the owners are our friends and we have chance to visit Balaton we are happy to pay a visit to them. Good atmosphere, good taste are the main description of the place. It is also located closet to a few  Tihany museums and best restaurants therefore you will have a possibility to explore Hungarian culture. It is located on the top of the hill - not very close to the Balaton shore - but if you are fit enough it will bu fun climbing up after relaxing day on Baltone's beach. Have fun exploring Hungary and Vila Alexander.

Friendly Place

When we arrived there was no one in the 'lobby' except for a gaming teenager, obsessed with his computer. After some futile efforts we had to call the owner to get a key and other information. The room looked ok but had poor hygiene and the bed was a shame. Breakfast has a 24 hours life cycle, which implies that everything was stale and tasteless. The lady of the house occupied the main couch and had no interest in us at all.  
Wifi did not work, of course.

no hospitality

Based on the homepage we expected a great holiday in Tihany. The villa probably was great a few years ago, but currently it is worn out, need a refurbishment, the walls are dirty, the wooden furniture are used out, the fence at the entrance is dangerous as it is rotten so as the fence next to the pool. The pool was full of chlorine, therefore we got strange spots and used tons of body lotions. When the pool got green, they put extra chlorine,... no comment. The blankets were terrible, dirty and worn out. No hairdryers!

The owner was incorrect, unreliable and wanted to charge more even for the waste delivery.
The electricity was coming from an other house as he did not pay the bills, but the capacity was not for this villa therefore sometimes the electricity was just gone. 
We ordered internet and discussed that it is a must for us, he promised to arrange it, but did not  do. The same situation with the TV, only Ukrainian and Russian TV are available.  

The housekeeper girl was strange, was drinking alcohol or who knows what a lot of times and invited strange friends who were noisy. 

I do not suggest to go there, or be prepared for the disappointment!

Disappointing

When we arrived at the hotel (3 km from lake balaton) it seemed empty, but after a while we found two girls who without a smile showed us our room. The over all impression was that the owners must have left the hotel in the hands of theese teenagers who had no clue how to run it. Techno music on really loud, bikes out of order, no cleaning of rooms and no intrest in service (for example she was very reluctant to call a taxi when we decided to leave earlier which is quite difficult since hardly no one speaks english in the village). But the building was beautiful like in the pictures and breakfast was fine.
