We toured in Iceland on bicycles with tent and stayed at Lonsa Campsite for two nights. It's a small site, but everything you need is there (except laundry). Facilities are really clean, there are hook ups to charge phones and chairs to take to your tent - nice for basic campers! Paying is easy (camping card, credit card or cash) and the warden was really kind and caring! Near to the road to Akureyri (all downhill), but also beautiful views on the mountains. May get full in the high season because of the small size.

The owner is friendly. The rooms very small. The kitchen was dirty. The refrigerator was full with old stuff from tourist.  You can hear everything, noise.  The room was clean. The surrounding is not really beautiful.

This hotel is just outside Akureyi on the Ring Road which made it an excellent choice for our Ring Road drive.  We had a family room which was quite decent. The toilets were shared. We had access to the kitchen which was busy but not too bad and there was a decent amount of kitchenware. Bathrooms and kitchens were maintained well and during our stay the other guests were friendly. Basic but at this price can't really expect much more in Akureyi.

Decent accomodation on Ring Road and at good price

Service was nice and the rooms clean, but you can see that it would be useful to change something. Looking at the number of rooms, additional showers or toilets are undoubtedly necessary, as well as more space in the fridge. They do not serve breakfast on the spot so food needs to be stored somewhere and when we wanted to make dinner in a few people, we took half the space ...

For one night

We were struggling to find somewhere to park our camper car for the evening as it is off season, but the lovely hosts let us use their parking lot for the night. Even though we didnt get a chance to use their facilities (other than the very clean Wc) they deserve 5* for their graciousness! 

It's not too far out of town either, about 2200kr taxi so we were able to avoid driving back and forth and have some awesome beers. 

Would stay here when back in akureyri

Best hosts

The room we got had two single beds and a bunk bed. It was a little small, but we were comfortable. The room was clean as well. 

The kitchen placement was bad. The dining table was placed very closely to the cooking stove, making it difficult to cook when there is another group eating. Floor was not very clean, but this is likely because the kitchen is shared.

While we were there, one of two of the shower rooms available could not be used, as the light wasn’t working.

Small but clean bedroom

I am glad we chose Lonsa Guesthouse to stay in Akureyri as i wouldn't have asked for any better stay. The guesthouse is located 2 Km before the city which makes it special in a way it is peaceful and away from city rush. The guesthouse we stayed had 7 rooms, 2 Bathroom/Shower and 1 Bathroom, One big common area with TV and books to read and 1 large kitchen with all amenities.. They had free coffee/tea facility which added a great bonus for our stay ( i mean who doesn't like fresh coffee dripped out of espresso machine :) 
 
The lady who welcomed was kind and sweet. Our room was spacious and our bed was comfortable. The whole property is maintained spec and clean
2 Km into the city is Bonus Supermarket, further up is Akureyrarkirkja (church) and 500 meters from here is Arctic Botanical Gardens (Lystigardurinn). (Elaborate reviews on these places in TripAdvisor)

Warm & cozy guesthouse in Akireyri

clean and good value guesthouse with comfortable beds and free parking.  note however this guesthouse is a few kilometres out of town so a vehicle is essential.  Breakfast is pricey at 15 euro per person (we didn't take this option) however there are eateries within a few minutes drive
