Well if you are planning to sleep I would not recomment this guesthouse. There is a club nextdoor and you can imagine trying to sleep next to that! You can hear the music and people screaming and talking very loud. Very bad experience for our family trip to visit Akureyri 

Would not recomment if you want to get some sleep, club downstairs!

The room it self is very clean and cosy but the bathroom and shower area  were not very inviting. We had a room at the top floor (4th) and the smell at the staircase was unbearable. Luckily we only stayed ther for one night. I have stayed there occasionally over the years but this was the worst case.

This is a great cheap guesthouse located on the main shopping street in Akureyri.
The rooms are rather large and have large windows facing the street. The beds are old but comfortable and everything is very clean. There is a communal toilet for each floor along with a fully furnished kitchen. There is no elevator but the stairs aren´t too steep. The WiFi was surprisingly good. There are no TVs or radios in the rooms. The staff only spoke english.
The location is the best feature of this guesthouse but because of that you have to park rather far away.

A downtown guesthouse

I stayed at the guesthouse with my grandmother and her friend on July 9-13th. We had two rooms, both very cosy, clean and nice. Only thing was in one room there was no place to hang your clothes or any drawers to put them in, other than that everything was very nice. We enjoyed the discount at the bakery downstairs and had breakfast there each morning. The location was perfect, right on the Main Street and close to everything which was nice since I was traveling with 80 year old women. 
The price was very good, especially compared to how expensive accommodation can be in Iceland. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse :)


Great guesthouse in the perfect location 

A Centrally located guest house, communicative hosts, seems to have been recently decorated as the photos on this site do not do it justice. Did not take photographs on arrival or I would include them. Nice, comfortable and clean. 

Nice little stay

We loved staying here these past few days. The room was very cute and cozy, and the common spaces were very clean. We also loved how close it was to everything in Akureyri, including just a few steps from a tour bus pick up location. We felt like we were really in the heart of the town.

When we checked in, staff answered all questions we had and were very helpful. I definitely recommend this place.

Great central location!

We enjoyed our one night stay at Guesthouse Akureyri. The room was as trendy as the photos show and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was easy and the hotel is conveniently located in the downtown of Akureyri so it’s easily walkable to the harbor, shops, and restaurants. Our only small issue was that being on the bottom floor we had a lot of loud scrapping noises (like moving furniture) above us. This only happened before bed and when we woke up so it wasn’t a problem and the hotel thoughtfully provides ear plugs if needed.

Comfortable and Conveniently Located

First of all, you can't check in at this location. What they don't tell you is it is co-owned by the "Hotel Akuyeri" so you check in there then go to the guesthouse, ring the bell and have to be let in, you'll be lucky if staff is around to greet you. Parking is up to you to figure out. Rooms are fine, big windows. My sheets had blatant holes in them and the TV did not work. Doors are very heavy and bang shut. Would have expected more for the price paid.

Disappointed

Window to the high street was no problem, the noise from outside did not wake us but the slamming of doors with too heavy door pumps did. The beds were very good, and the shared facilities quite good, both bathrooms and kitchen. The location is smack in the middle of Akureyri.

Worst hotel noisy stinks

We were happy we stayed for only one night at this horrible hotel. I dont think i can even call one positive aspect!! Wait, its located at the centre..
We had a room at the 2nd Floor on the front. The whole night there was a lot of noise from outside and also the walls are very thin, so you can hear everything... We barely slept that one night.
But the worst of all was the smell in our (bath)room. It was terrible en leaking. We decided to take a shower somewhere else.
The hotel has a very small staircase and no elevator. For us it was no problem, but i can imagine it will be a problem for others. Besides it was a very expensive room. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
