Pros:
- breakfast spread was good overall and includes a coffee machine for custom brews
- good experience checking in, reception staff offered great recommendation for dinner (Hotel Hofn)
- loft arrangement with two double beds was well designed for limited space
- very clean and upkept room, chocolates on towels a nice touch
- though room only had one bathroom, one in the eating area is available for use and was very clean also

Cons:
- lots of steps and tight fit up stairs to loft area (best suited for kids and those without mobility issues)
- during busy breakfast time, refill rate for some items such as croissants is slow 
- property/rooms on the smaller side, no amenities like hot tub, etc.

Summary: A niche and neat property conversion of an old milk factory. We enjoyed our stay and everything was pleasant overall with very good use of limited space. Would recommend as an option as the loft is more affordable than two separate rooms, thus presents an excellent value proposition. Very accurate to average rating on the site so far. Modernized loft room lodging at a unique property conversion

Had a great stay here. Our room was extremely large (not sure if they all are or not….we didn’t book a bigger room). It was the largest room we have had on our Iceland trip so far.

The breakfast was a bit smaller than some of the other hotels we have stayed at but the quality was just as good as our other “fancier” hotels. They had freshly baked bread (not all do) and an amazing carrot cake in addition to the standard Iceland fare. The staff were also very diligent in replacing food items.

This hotel was MUCH better than our other Hofn hotel. We tried to book two nights here but they were already full on our second night. 

We would definitely return and recommend this hotel.

Hidden gem!

We spent two nights here. We loved this town as it had more trees and looks more substantial than any other town between here and Rek. 
We checked in early and they gave us room 101 which is up front facing the main road. It’s quiet and private. All other rooms are on one of two hallways facing the breakfast rooms. Our room was spacious if simply furnished. Bathroom was big and warm. Breakfast was simple but filling with lots of cold choices. Very nice place to stay.

Best place on the Ring Road

A quirky hotel on the edge of town.  Our room (115) was clean and tidy, if a little warm on our arrival.  We put this down to the rather large windows. 

Bathroom facilities, shower etc were good, and the beds were very comfortable.  TV and WiFi in room, made for a pleasant 1 night stay.

The breakfast, served in the central part of the converted building, was a simple continental style but more than adequate of our needs.

Quirky Accommodation at the edge of town

we had an excellent stay in this guesthouse. The family room we booked was comfy. 

The breakfast did not have big variety but did have something for everyone. 

The fan by the bed was a nice touch as it can get quite hot in summer. 

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the milk factory and would recommend it.

Nice stay in hofn

Really enjoyed our stay at the Milk Factory. The refurbished and converted to a hotel old ...milk factory offers very high ceiling rooms and long tall windows with lots of light, nice views around. Our son really appreciated his "freedom" in the independent loft upstairs, the bathroom is spacious and modern, the breakfast is really fantastic (amazing croissants!) and the staff really sweet. Only thing a. the narrow single Icelandic bed syndrome persists, single beds are children width (moreover if you are a bit bigger in body size...) and b. wish the breakfast room had some natural light, an outside window (despite the horrible rainy day), though I see the architectural restrictions from the factory conversion... You cannot really call it a value-for-money accommodation as it was one of the more expensive hotels/inns (in the mid price category..) paid during our 11 day trip to Iceland but was well worth it overall, I would recommend it if you plan to stay in the area, Hofn is an interesting little town, do book your dinner though, the few restaurants get crazy and close pretty early, stop receiving guests at 9!

A great choice in the area, spacious, clean, nice.

I booked a family room with 2 storey, it was quite comfortable, clean and spacious. The room has big glass window. Location of the hotel is good with glacier view from far.  This hotel does not have minibar in the room but a shared pantry. Limited TV channels provided in the room. Breakfast was decant. A small little welcome gift provided in the room - 2 small chocolate bars, nice gesture. 

A good stopver in the southeast of the island

We only stayed one night at The Milk Factory as it was a stopping point between Vik and Akureyri for us. 

Pros: Breakfast was good, the rooms were nice and clean, good parking, friendly staff, the common area was huge, and great views (we watched the horses play for a long time). 

Cons:  I can’t really think of any other than if you were walking it would be a jaunt to the restaurants and attractions. 

We would stay here again.

Clean, modern and included breakfast!

Very disappointing stay in June 2023. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left after only one. 

Our room was very clean and had a lot of storage space but as we laid down to go to sleep we noticed a large patch of black mold way up in a corner of the ceiling. We tried to switch rooms then but the hotel was full. My daughter and I both have a severe mold allergy and in the morning we were both symptomatic. 

After breakfast I noticed paint marks on the ceiling where someone had previously tried to cover up the mold. Looking outside we saw a massive hole in the roof right over our room that could let even more water in. 

The breakfast hostess and manager were both very kind and apologetic. They said they knew about the issue and offered to let us change our room. Knowing that there was such a significant problem with one room made us skeptical about the other rooms and we decided to leave. It also left a bad taste in our mouths that the owner would rather cover up a health hazard instead of fixing it. 

In short, this hotel needs some repairs. If you can avoid room 116 you’ll probably have an ok stay. Other than the mold we didn’t have an issue with service, cleanliness, breakfast, or noise.

Great staff, clean rooms, building has some issues

Had a great stay - spacious, clean room with lots of luggage storage, modern bathroom and an awesome view of a horse pasture outside our window. Quiet room and nice room darkening curtains. Plenty of parking and a  nice breakfast included. Recommend this hotel if passing through.
