Hofn was our absolute favorite area to stay. Long drive from airport but something everyone should experience while in Iceland. They have a small hill next to the Hostel where you can walk up to view the Northern lights and it was explosive in the sky, Our best adventure of seeing the light was in Hofn. We also drove further East from Hofn and really enjoyed that as well. We saw a reindeer on the Ring road about 70KM outside of Hofn.  The hostel was very nice as well, good sleeping and quiet. Kitchen was very busy in the morning but very doable.

Northen Lights explosion

My stay at Höfn HI hostel had been a pleasant experience. The check-in process was smooth, making it easy to settle in. My private bathroom was comfortable, though I noticed the shared bathrooms were often occupied. The overall tidiness was decent, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The common area was adequate for socializing, and the large kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of utensils and kitchenware, perfect for budget travelers. Overall, it’s a great budget to mid-range option for those on the ring road, offering a cozy stay with essential amenities.

Comfy

The cleanest hostel I have ever been in, well organised and a pleasure to stay there. It is a hostel so the chances are someone in the shared room will be a snorer, but that is hardly something the hostel can change. The kitchen is well equipped and large and there is plenty of shared space. Höfn is a small place so you will be in the port quickly.

Very clean and well equipped hostel

Excellent cheap solution in a very expensive country.
I slept here because, in summer vacations, all hotels were full.
Anyway, I was well surprised with this first experience in a hostel.
Clean rooms, very clean bathrooms, nice kitchen and dinner room and very polite staff.
Definitely, a good option in Höfn.


Very good and nice price

We had never stayed in a hostel before, mostly Airbnb’s but after this we are rethinking our plans. The facility was amazing, the kitchen exceeded all expectations, the bathrooms were large and the showers easily accessible. Two large refrigerators were available for storing food and an excellent washer and dryer were located onsite. There was lots of space in the dining area and a common room finished of the place. Just an excellent experience all around.

First time in a hostel.

Very nice hostel.  I highly recommend this to everyone who needs a place to sleep when traveling in this part. We stayed in a 5 person room, my partner and kid, plus two friends (adults) and we all enjoyed our stay. The only thing we did not enjoy was the squeaky metal beds, I thought my upstair partner kept going in and out of the bed..she just turned around! So bring your ear plugs, but everything was clean, we had our own bathroom, but the shared ones was also nice. Big kitchen and eating area (we did not use it though, arrived late and left early). But I would absolutely go back here in the future. 

Nice stay

We spent just one night but we loved the accommodation. As a family of 3 we booked a private room with a private bathroom and loved the space. The hostel itself is very clean and in a residential neighbourhood. Everyone who was staying was very nice and the communal kitchen was easily accessible to everyone. We walked to the town and that was very doable. The town is quiet but there are a number of things to see in the area. We really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend it.

Great Hostel

The place was getting some work done. The roof is definitely blue now. When you enter, you have to remove your shoes. The main floor has 3 washrooms with showers and the bottom has 2. It was pretty busy in the morning, so just note that there might be a wait. There is a sink in the room, so that is handy. Clean and nice.

Nice stay,very clean

Very nice rooms that were very well cleaned. The linens and beds very comfortable. Newly renovated bathrooms with great shower. Highly recommend staying here 👌🏻. There is a very large communal kitchen with utensils. There are also washing machines and dryer available.

Stayed two nights.

We were originally scheduled to visit Iceland this summer in June. With the COVID situation the Iceland government shutdown the country and flights were canceled. The Hofn Hostel were very helpful in rescheduling our trip into July, but again COVID prevented US travelers from visiting and we were out of room to have the trip rescheduled in 2020.  We attempted to cancel our reservation or reschedule into 2021, but were charged anyway by Hofn Hostel.  Recent communications with them have been unresponsive. Very disappointing since their government prohibited our travel.
