Well staffed lodge with peaceful views, a full breakfast spread including proper coffee and homemade bread
.  The soaking tubs are private  as well.  High pressure hot shower, comfy bed.  Full bar.  Lovely cafe and a good restaurant are less than 10 minutes away.

Peaceful gem an hour from Vik

The hotel is just outside in a quiet location from the main town. The hotel is set with the main building defacing the north with outdoor hot bath tub for the guests. It has a bar/ lounge area and a restaurant with a beautiful view of the surroundings and ample parking.
The staff is very friendly and professional and happy to help.
Our cottage was a little on small, cozy side but we enjoyed the stay. Everything in the room and the shower room was of a high standard and slept well. There is a coffee machine in the room with adequate storage space with a dining table and  good quality toiletries. We managed to see the northern lights again in this hotel for a little while.
The only feedback is that they should turn outside lights off to prevent light pollutions which caused a bit of hinderance in our northern lights experience.
Otherwise a wonderful stay.

Beautiful stay

Quiet, remote and cosy cabin which was really close to sejanafoss waterfall.

Very windy but our room was warm, clean and well maintained. There is a little bar and small breakfast area which was immaculate and cosy. Breakfast was LOVELY, pancakes freshly made daily. Katrina was so helpful and gave us great advice about a nearby not very well known waterfall (worth asking). Glad we hired a 4x4 as the track to this place is very rough and has huge potential holes (fun drive in the right car) wouldn’t recommend in a low down car. Overall a really nice 2 night stay, thank you. Would happily recommend and if we return will stay again.

Hidden gem off the beaten track

Review 

Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge.  Fantastic location for visiting the the south coast waterfalls, glaciers and black beach, horse riding at the Hestheimar.  Easy to get to Golden Circle. Close to a supermarket and couple of restaurants. There are a number of self service petrol stations along the way. 

The lodge itself has ovely cosy feel. Nice relaxing areas with great views.  2 hot tubs with choice of temperature. Views over Hekla volcano. 

Rooms are a decent size. Comfy beds, the room is clean and warm. Toiletries and kettle provided. (Only one tea and coffee though. Sure I could have asked for more but I felt awkward. Just wish they would put a few out) 

Breakfast was lovely. Cereals, breads, pastries, pancakes, yoghurts, jams, bacon, sausage, egg and beans. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. 

I really really enjoyed my time here the staff are lovely. I have two issues for feedback and they are NOT complaints. The road to the lodge is about a mile on a dirt track. In the dark you had to go very slowly for potholes. I was probably being extra careful as in a hire car. 

Secondly I booked way in advance and asked if I could guarantee a room with a north facing view (I was willing to pay) I was told there were no rooms specifically facing north all rooms would have good view of the Aurora if it were to appear. On arrival there were many rooms that were facing north and by then all were full. The Aurora did appear but too many lights on the cabin doors that spoil a weak display and make it hard to see. I ended up sat at the side of my lodge to see the Aurora with a coat over the light to try and darken the area I was in. 

Overall fantastic stay and I will return!

I will return 

When the aurora are active this would be the perfect location to watch. Not far from Reykjavík it felt rural and peaceful. Our weather wasn’t great but it was super relaxing. The breakfast was magnificent while the one offer of soup for dinner was a little disappointing. I could see me sitting here watching the aurora in comfort should it appear. Wildly baron and stunning. I loved it. Perfectly placed for the Golden Circle and nearby waterfalls of which there are many.

Quiet, pea and isolated, the perfect combination for watching the aurora.

Beautiful lodge with cosy features. Warm and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast and lounge lobby area. Bit limiting in views if you get an inner facing room; also noise from neighbours movements can be heard (but not a major issue). Happy to recommend and nice and quiet overall.

Cosy little hideaway away from town

Comfy bed, good shower very quiet. It was by far the best breakfast we’ve had in Iceland. Try the french toast. We went to Midguard for our dinner in the evening which was easy to get to and reasonable prices for Iceland. We would come back here again to use the hot tubs on a less windy night!

Great stay

Beautiful lodge style hotel. Comfortable bedroom with comfy beds. Beautiful reception/bar area with big windows to look at a volcano at the horizon and big comfy leather sofas to relax and enjoy. Great breakfast with super fresh bread and wide selection things to eat. Friendly reception/breakfast restaurant staff. Definitely worth recommending.

Perfect hotel!!!

Fantastic from the initial greeting from Front of house manager Alicia through to the excellent food provided by Chef Boris and his great team. The Hotel is led from the front by Peter in a calm professional and very friendly manner indeed. I was so impressed by my three day stay and would certainly want to return.

Fantastic stay

We arrived late in the day after a full day of outdoor activities and driving. Check in/check out was quick and easy. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing even though there were 4-5 other couples there. The restaurant is not that large, but they had a long menu and the food was great. We grabbed breakfast there also before leaving, and it was one of the few places that we stayed at that had fresh fruit for breakfast. The common area was quiet and there was a nice fireplace going. 

Our room was small and it was a bit hard to regulate the heat in the space. We had to open the window because with the shower going it became a bit much. We only stayed one night so it suited our needs.
