Guy and girl working inside here are good people doing  their best.  Premises are good

But. WARNING!!!!:
the owner is horrible. She has really bad business manners, generally puts her clients in very bad monetary situations sometimes (check here and TripAdvisor for these reviews and you won't choose to book here I'm sure, I wish I had done that)

Om my arrival day I was locked out at 2.30 am  because the hotel didn't send the entry code to me and THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY NUMBER TO CALL. If says on the website after 21.00 you check in with a code. But no code in my email.  I had to pay over 200€ total extra to go to another room,  by taxi. Since I had an E-sim I could Google for a taxi and call via Skype luckily because the streets were empty and no public wifis. Standing in arctic winds alone in Iceland! All the hotel's fault.

She tries to tell me I should have emailed them about a late arrival which there was NO INFO about in the confirmation and generally just blames me for the whole situation when clearly its the fault of the hostel. Horrible owner. She could have given me a refund for the first night as I politely asked but she refuses and simply blames me and Expedia. Horrible manners not caring about anything except some 50€ for 1 night

Please use your money better and book B47 bus hostel instead-much better people working there, perfect for all excursions and transfers etc. Maria in B14 does not take care of the guests if something happens so better to go to a different place to avoid being treated horribly losing your money. So go to B47 instead.

Stay away if you want your peace of mind and not lose money

Arrived to this hostel that is outside of the city center only to find that the bunk I was assigned was dirty and/or still in use! No one on site to sort out the issue and owner refused a refund. I was forced to find another last minute accommodation.

Assigned a dirty and in use bed. No help or solution offered.

- A bit out of the way
- Kitchen and common space was large and useful
- Internet was good
- Quiet area 
- Seems safe. 
- Lots of parking 
- Rooms were well sorted  but no place to store bags. 
- Curtains are a nice touch. 
- All beds were squeaky. Anytime anyone rolls over the whole place wakes up.  
- Only two showers and they are gross. Should be cleaned throughout the day. 
- Price is higher then what it should be and for what's around in rek
- no soap for hands in washroom and wastebaskets overflowing by 9pm
- extra beds in the middle of the room to trip over. 
- beds don't have sheets just one cover 
- the no reception thing isn't a big deal. That's where things are heading 

It is bare minimum even for a hostel

It's ok

The B14 hostel is a perfect little haven to stay if solo travelling or in a group with a budget. The hostel is self-check in with codes emailed to you for the doors. The kitchen and social space is clean and tidy which was a nice change. Beds were all tidy with clean bedding & the beds have individual curtains for added privacy. There is also a female only room consisting on 10 bunks. The hostel is out of the way which can be tricky to get into the centre if you aren’t driving. Bus stops are located close along with supermarkets which slightly makes up for the placement of the hostel. Whilst staying I was the only person in my dorm so effectively had a private room. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers in the hostel which are kept reasonably clean, however did smell whilst I was there. The kitchen is also well equipped & has a variety of items supplied for all hostel users (for example, milk). 

Besides the smell of the bathrooms, location of the hostel and no clear towels to use it is the perfect standard little hostel, basic enough for all your needs.  

Modern yet...out of the way

I stayed here 6 nights, from the past thursday, to this wednesday (October 17th).
The only thing I can say is: THANK YOU!.
The place is super clean, you also have to leave your shoes while enter to the hostel. The beds has their own curtain, so you can sleep very well. Cereals and milk free for starting your day healthy. 
The plus, was the amazing people that I met in there, all of them were super kind, so I think that's why my stayed in the hostel was just perfect. 
The bathrooms are super comfortable, and you also have a living room to be relaxed for a while. The issue could be that is kind of far away from city center, but now that i've been in Iceland, I understand that is a must to rent a car, so I think is something that is not affecting the hostel. I travelled there by myself, and I ended up hanging out with 8 different people, who all of them were amazing. 
I just feel like in home in there. If you have the chance, you should book here.

Excellent place

Nice hostel - good value for money - however, like other reviewers have said, it is a healthy 45 min/1 hour walk from the city centre! There are buses; I happily walked to and fro each day without problems. Reykjavík isn't a big city so once you're in the city core it's not epic to get from one end to the other, depending entirely on your fitness. There are paved pedestrian/cycle paths detached from the main roads so the walk in was quite pleasant and safe. Additionally, if you decide to book tours with Gray Line (great company!), their bus depo is a 20 min walk away.

I spent three nights in the female dorm, which I booked as a four bed dorm but turned out to have thirteen beds in total. At most five of the beds were occupied. Roommates were wonderful and noise was never a problem. There is a main road out the window that may be too loud for light sleepers, but no one in my dorm complained when leaving the window open for fresh air. Beds are quite soft! In contrast to another reviewer, a pillow, duvet and linen were all supplied. The drawn curtains on each bunk is a genius addition for added privacy. Keep in mind there are no lockers for keeping personal items - I just left less valuable items on my bunk during the day, as did others in my dorm.

Communal area is a bit of a free for all in a good way. Kitchen is well equipped and there's a big fridge with a shelf designated for each of the three bunkrooms. Plenty of pots and utensils. There's cereal (Cherrios and cornflakes) and milk available throughout the day. If food is left behind from previous guests then it's open for pillaging and plundering by all. There's a little freezer too.

Two individual shower rooms are available for everyone to use, one has a toilet and sink in the same room and the other is just a shower. I never had any issues with queues. There are bodywash dispensers in the showers so if you're hoping to travel light, don't worry about bringing soap! Also there's two seperate toilet rooms, one for guys and another for girls. All are clean and seemed to be cleaned daily. 

One important note... when booking bus tours or any sort of pick up, you must specify that you're staying at the B14 hostel on Faxafen to prevent confusion as there are multiple B14 establishments in Reykjavík. 

Finding the hostel for the first night was a bit confusing. Google Maps is correct when saying where it is but the hostel entrance is on the first floor where cars can drive up into a car park. The entrance to the car ramp from ground level is labelled as "B14 Guesthouse".

The location is the oddest part of this hostel - it's in a very industrial area of town, but a Bónus and a 24-hour superstore are within a few minutes walk. There are nearby American restaurants (KFC, burgers, etc) as well as sushi and Indian food. For ethnic Icelandic food, best to go into the city centre. 

The hostel was not manned, there is no front desk and I never saw any staff (however I was out for most of the day). You are given codes by email to get in through the front door and then into your respective dorm room. I actually preferred this keyless entry.

No problems with WiFi - strong signal everywhere and passcode is found on the wall in the dorms.

Overall, it was a decent stay as far as hostels are concerned. It was clean, warm and cosy. Having the complimentary cereal was a nice start to the morning. I would happily recommend this hostel to anyone who is okay with walking the distance or busing/taxiing into the city centre.

Excellent place for budget travellers but far from city centre

Stayed here on NYE, so paid an extortionate amount for one nights stay. But it was to be expected in Iceland and on such a popular day. Was emailed a code for the door the day before arrival. I don't think the hostel would have been that easy to find if I hadn't organised a direct transfer from the airport. The rooms were clean, but not clearly labelled so I didn't know which were female only etc. The bed was comfy and the bedding was really warm. The bed had it's own plug and reading light and curtains for privacy. Only 2 showers but they were clean. I didn't use the kitchen but it looked clean & well equipped.

Just fine

When I first booked the hostel I was worried after reading the awful reviews lol but Maria (the owner) was kind and she replied to all my emails. 
When you get there there is no front desk it feels like a modern appartement. The front door is lock so you have to enter a code to get in and for the rooms it's the same. I was in a all female room. It was very cosy. The curtains made it more intimate. There is no lockers but when I was leaving for the day I was putting all my stuff on my bed or under it and I was closing the curtains. There was always someone from the staff on scene during the day. The whole place was cleaned everyday. There is 2 bathroom one for men and the other for women. Beware the sinks are tiny haha ! Otherwise there is 2 showers. One of them had a toilet and a sink. 
The resting area was pretty big there was huge tables and also a living room space with cosy sofa. 
The kitchen is well equipped. 
Since I was going on excursions pretty much all week I went and bought groceries and I left my bag in the big fridge they have. There is two groceries store at less than 5 min away. One is called Bonus you will recognized this one by the pink pig as a sign and there is also Hagkaup that one is open 24/7. Bonus is cheaper but Hagkaup had more vegan options it was more suitable for me. 
If you are looking for a "party" hostel I can tell you that is not the place. It's a nice and quiet space were you can rest. WIFI was working great, I had difficulty to connect maybe one time because that night we where a lot in the common area. 
Otherwise area speaking i'm not gonna lie it's a bit far from downtown. By walk it's about an hour But it's great to walk around the city and discover the area while you get downtown. The thing I liked a lot was that the buses where close by and so going downtown by bus only took 10-15 min ! 
I mainly took the buses number 3 and number 6 at Skeifan bus stop !  
Beware the bus ticket are kind of expensive. It's 400 Krona for one, I bought 6 of them and it cost me close to 36$ CAD. 
You'll soon realize that pretty much everything is expensive in Iceland especially food !! I would recommend to pack some stuff to eat. Pasta, rice, oatmeal etc. The cereals and milk at the Hostel was free and also a lot of people was leaving free food behind. 
I stayed a week in Iceland, groceries speaking it cost me around 300$ CAD. I would also recommend that you book your tour online it will be cheaper I would also recommande Grey line excursion they have a pick up at B14- Maria's place (which is the name of this hostel when you book a tour). They were always in time and I was always their first stop ! 
There is a lot of geothermal bath in Reykjavik one of the is called Laugardalslaug it's the biggest geothermal bath in the city, it's only 950 krona and the good news is that it's only 30 min walks from the hostel ! Overall I loved my experience in Iceland and I appreciated my stay at the B14 Hostel ! I would recommend this hostel if you have a car or if you are motivated to take the city buses or just even walk !

great stay !

I want to focus on what is positive about this hostel, but it was just such an awkward experience. There is no front desk and thats fine, but it would have been nice to know that the hostel doubles as a kids singing studio, and at 11am you are promptly kicked out of the only place in the hostel where you can comfortably lounge and plan your day; more to that effect, the staff of the studio were incredibly rude and unfriendly, giving evil eyes and passive aggressive signals that they expected guests of the "hostel" to bail. forget good vibes. 

the kitchen is really nice, well stocked and clean, and there is a grocery store/ beds were alright, i had sheets, and there are blinds built into the bunkbeds for privacy. all nice. showers were clogged though, but cleaning staff came through on time.

still, nothing justifies being subtly berated just for wanting to use the wifi in the hostel you jjust payed 5000~ kronur to get a bunk bed in an 8 person room. 

just go to oddsson, or galaxy pod.
