This is a walking false advertisement.  It was billed on booking.com as an "Inn."  An Inn, like a hotel, has staff on site.  There's construction going on all around the building but the building itself hasn't gotten a fix for 30+ years. It's faded and unwelcoming from the outside.  From the inside -- once oyu get in, of which more later -- the formica counters are chipped, there's little art on the walls, the kitchen is a semi-deconstructed mess, the towels are small and rough, there is only one pillow per bed, there was NO soap or shampoo in the bathroom, no glasses in the room, no outlets by the desk, the beds are very narrow... I could go on.  Booking didn't give a real rating, but Tripadvisor did and I wish I'd noticed how low it scored (deservedly so).  Getting in was a s**tshow.  Only got it because others were there with a code.  The e-mail with the code apparently got caught in my spam filter.  Had I not printed out the reservation I would not have had the phone number to call to get the guy (again, NOT on site!) to give me the number so we could come and go.  Had they not already had my money, I would have left and sunk the cash into a better hotel...

For the love of God, no!

This is Tanca,We stayed here 1 week beginning of the jan 2023.I think this facility is great.I want to thank to Mr.Paul and from housekeeping the lady.They were very helpful.This guesthouse is very close to center almost 10 minutes by walking ,it is pretty close to bus terminal as well maybe not even 10 minutes.Most probably everyone will get tours from bus hostel area.it is 20 minutes away by walking to that area.it is easy to access.Guesthouse is very clean.You can have it  in kitchen whatever you need.There is microwave,coffee machine you can get benefit as free of charge.There are kettles and fridge as well.You will have plates and cups placed in drawers.We got great service according to what we paid for it.We will return to magnificent Iceland for a summer trip in a couple of years and we ll choose this guesthouse again.My only recommodation to workers would be is to update picture of guesthouse because it seems much better in real than how it seems in booking.com or tripadvisor etc.see you again

1 week stay

Just back from staying here with partner and 11year old,  we had a room with  a bathroom, room was clean and beds comfortable, kitchen was shared had fridge cooker, utensils etc, it may seem scruffy to uk standards.but such a good price with parking and  bus stop and shops walking distance, perfect on a budget and just want a comfy bed!

Basic but clean

I am not sure why the were so rude and unfriendly, but did not like this place at all. We paid for 2 nts and left after 1. Don't stay here, weird place. Everyone I met in Iceland were so friendly but not this place.

There are probably 2 reasons why this place is still alive. 1) it is basically downtown and 2) it is close to the bus station. Ok the bed sheets were clean. I added 2 photos to sum upp my experience of this place.

We (two women) arrived at the bus station adjacent to the guest house wanting to store our luggage for the day prior to check-in so we could enjoy the sights in Reykjavik.  There was no answer at 10:00 am at the guest entrance and we did not have a cell phone with an international plan to call the local phone number that was posted.  I (middle-aged woman) walked over to a door that was ajar to politely ask if we could store luggage for a few hours.  The individual who was in attendance (who I've since learned was the owner) started yelling at me that check-in was at 2:00 pm and he didn't have time for me.  When he said (yelled) that I was supposed to call the number, I told him I didn't have a cell phone (made no difference if I meant it literally or functionally...) and he snapped at me that EVERYONE HAS A CELL PHONE.  Oddly, he did allow us to store our bags, but we were really quite afraid for our own security at the thought of returning there.  We decided that we weren't comfortable staying there because of this appallingly rude host, so we booked accommodation elsewhere.  When we did return later in the afternoon to pick up our luggage, we called from the bus station phone (at least they're nice there...) and were met about 20 minutes later by a very kind gentleman who was an employee of the guest house.  When we shared with him what happened and our resultant decision to stay somewhere else, he was very apologetic.  It must be so difficult for this kind and helpful man to be doing damage control for his unbelievably rude employer.  I would never consider staying there or at any of the other four guest houses that this horrible man owns and I would go out of my way to recommend against staying there to anyone else.  Thankfully, it was the only bad experience we had during our two week stay in beautiful Iceland.

Appallingly horrible Iceland experience

This guesthouse is for those on a budget.  It's close to the bus station, and we chose it because we planned to take an early bus to Landmannalauger to hike Laugavegur Trail.  The guesthouse is very simple.  It's clean, quiet and inexpensive.  On the downside, there is no indoor common area (though we can use the kettle in the kitchen) and we missed this.

Very basic accomodation. Positive things: near to the center and opposite to the bus station where the shuttle from the airport arrives.The person in charge of the guesthouse was very unkind, not welcoming at all, absolutely crazy.
The emergency exit alarmed me a lot: only a 4 year boy could pass from there:I’ll attach a picture.

Nightmare

I have just stayed 2 nights in this accommodation with my husband and it was a huge disappointment for us. When we booked this place we picked it for the price and the position. We didn’t have the free cancellation with booking so we couldn’t change it with something else anymore even if we decided to have the car in Reykjavík as well( for this reason if you have a car don’t consider it). We arrived and nobody was there. We called the number and the guy answered he would come shortly. He arrived after couple of minutes. It showed us the room: number 6 at the basement. A twin room(separate beds) with a private bathroom. The room was small, dirty, with the bed sheets old and ripped. The bathroom was an absolute joke: my husband took the shower and we had all the floor wet for the whole stay. The water is very smelly and almost impossible to brush your teeth with that horrible smell. The problem of this place is the name itself: this is not a guesthouse, it is an hostel without the use of the kitchen, with rooms with private bathroom e rooms with the shared bathroom. But it is not fair to call it guesthouse as it isn’t in my opinion. I have travelled a lot around Europe and USA as well. This is not on a guesthouse standard at all. It is not worth the price they asks. Go somewhere else if you can and avoid this place. Iceland is very expensive but you should find a betterment place maybe for the same price.

What a disappointment! Stay away from this place if you can

We stayed at Travel Inn for 1 night in March 2019 as a part of full country travel. The experience did not started great - we arrived and faced locked door with a phone number on it. The owners assume that all foreigners carry local SIM cards and have no problem to make a local call, Thanks to super friendly by-passers we managed to make a call and we told to wait for 5-10 minutes. The receptionist came after 35 minutes explaining that he manages 4 other properties in the area and he did not understand our frustration. 
We were not told during booking that our room will be in the basement -  it was an unpleasant surprise in the list of them to follow. Much worse was that the room was smelly and dirty, The window lock was broken so we could not leave our possessions in  the room at all.
Next day we were supposed to leave at 10 am. 9:55 am the receptionist showed up and demanded from us to leave immediately in a very rude form. The hotel has two exits, one of them conveniently leads to the parking lot. When we asked to be allowed to use this exit we were refused with "This exit is for me only!".
Needless to say that any help with our heavy luggage was not offered and refused even after our request.
We are well aware that the hotel is cheap, but during our visit of Iceland we stayed in 3 other hotels that were even cheaper and the quality and service in them was light years better than here. 
Interesting fact: we left some similar feedback on the hotel FB page and we surprised to notice that our comments were deleted the next day.

Bottom line: please do yourself a favor and stay away of this place,
