The guesthouse is in a ideal location  a second away from the beautiful Hallgrimskirkja and walking distance to city centre as well as the beautiful waterfront. The guesthouse is situated on a quiet and private street (no traffic noise). Our room was clean and tidy. Bathroom easily accessible and clean. Kitchen was well equipped and also clean. Very happy with our time at Loki 101 Guesthouse! Thank you Birna & Daniel

However!
The bathroom shower is actually disgusting it’s basically a stone cube which stinks and just feels so dirty that I have only used it once for three minutes in my three day trip (trust me it has to be bad for me to do this)!
When I say a stone block I mean a stone block with a new shower head - it’s the weirdest thing I have ever seen 
You can hear everything in your room from the other guests too 
It’s been a good base for my first trip here but wouldn’t come again
Also my bedsheets haven’t been changed since Thursday 
It’s definitely 2 star
I travel all over and live in central London so trust me when I tell you this isn’t 4 star 

Review 

I’ve stayed at Loki 101 twice and both times it’s been perfect. Fantastic price for the location and very friendly owners. Room is just what I needed, shared bathroom was fine. Perfectly warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Highly recommended, I will be staying again

Beautiful B&B

I stayed at the Loki 101 Guesthouse for 10 nights the last half of August 2019. The short review would be that Loki is a clean, basic, and affordable guesthouse in a great location.

Reservations directly through Loki 101's website were straightforward, and all necessary information was provided in the confirmation email. Questions and communication by email were responded to quickly.

I think it is important to note that this guesthouse does not maintain onsite staff -- it is a simple self check-in process. Two days before I arrived in Iceland I received an email detailing how to enter the house, and how to find my room and room key (this information was also previously provided in the original confirmation email). On the day I arrived and at the appropriate time, I received another email letting me know that my room was ready and that I could check myself in.

While not directly staffed onsite, the proprietors came in every day between 11am and 2pm to clean the kitchen, bathrooms, and clean and turn over the rooms. And when not at the guesthouse, the proprietors were a phone call or email away.

As far as the room, I had one of the three single rooms -- #3. Two of the single rooms are on the second floor front side of the house with street views, while #3 is on the back side of the house. The room is usual Eurpoean small single room (in this case about 8ft x 9ft) and furnished with a twin bed and desk. Though there is not an actual window in the room, there is a rather large glass floor to ceiling door that let plenty of sunlight into the room and that can be latched open to enjoy the outside air. There was also a second floor balcony/deck, only accessible to the occupant of room #3. That balcony was definitely a big plus for the room. Each of the rooms on the second floor share bathroom facilities on the same floor. The one thing to note about this room is that it had only one power outlet, which the desk lap is plugged into. It was no issue for myself, as I only had my phone to charge, but tech heavy solo travelers should be aware.

The one feature of the guesthouse that was a big plus was the full sized, fully furnished and equipped kitchen. There is an oven and stove top, with utensils pots, sauce pans and frying pans available. Also, a toaster, electric hot water kettle, and coffee maker. There are two refrigerators and several pantry cabinets, with each room assigned shelves in a fridge and pantry to store their groceries. 

Loki 101 Guesthouse is perfectly located. Just mere steps from both Hallgrímskirkja and tour bus stop #8 for those who have scheduled tour pick up and drop off at that stop. Cafe Loki is just two doors away, and most certainly worth a visit. There is a Krambuđ just one block over on Skólavörđustígur for basic groceries and a Bonus is within a half mile walk on Laugavegur for a greater selection of groceries. The location was also an easy half mile walk from and to the BSÍ bus terminal for airport transfers.

It seemed that most guests were staying 1-3 nights as they were either starting or finishing Ring Road trips, while I stayed 10 nights. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Loki 101. It had everything that I wanted, and with a peaceful, relaxed and homey vibe while being affordable. My nightly rate averaged out to $93 -- a far cry from the $200-$300+ a night for most hotels. 

If I were to make a return visit to Reykjavík I would again happily stay at Loki 101 Guesthouse.

Great low-key Loki, near cathedral, walking distance uphill from BSI Flybus shuttle terminal from airport. Guests quiet and respectful.  Don't expect grand, just darn good is good enuf. Bright kitchen opens onto charming enclosed patio. Grocery store nearby, restaurant on corner introduces Icelandic food: varieties of fish, pastries in morning. Simple and serviceable this is it.


Comfort of Home

I stayed here with my 12 year old son, and found it perfect for our needs.  It is one of the most affordable guesthouses in Reykavik, and has a kitchen, which helped us cut down on food bills.  The refrigerator and cupboards are organised in such a way that it's clear what food belongs to each guest. Coffee is provided, but no breakfast.  In addition, the owners were happy for me to use their washer and dryer, which was very helpful, as we were doing lots of outdoor activities and our clothes got wet and dirty.  Loki Guesthouse has an excellent location, especially for those who don't want to rent a car in Iceland, or rely on buses.  It was easy to walk anywhere in the city centre, and it was only a couple minutes walk to Stop 8 outside the church, where our tour companies would pick us up.  Loki is not a fancy guesthouse, so don't expect room service or frequent changing of linens.  But it's perfectly fine, and the owners are responsive should an issue arise.  The Loki Cafe next door is a great place to try some Icelandic food.

Everything we needed in Reykjavik

Basic room with very small, down market shared bathroom and toilet for  7-8 people. Stained carpets on landing. Good heating and hot water. Great kitchen space. Perfect position for exploring Reykjavik.

Reykjavik accommodation

Literally a few steps away from the iconic church of Reykjavik. Kitchen is well equiped. The location is the best coz its not only just the church that is near but the famous reykjavik hotdogs are just at the opposite street and reykjavik roasters(awesome coffee) is just a few blocks away. You can walk to the good spots of the city from this place.

Only thing to note is you would need to summon the strength of Loki if you have heavy luggage and are assigned to the top floor(3rd flr) as there is no lift so you need to take the stairs.

Super convenient place to stay

A perfect place for the budget traveler.  If you just want a place to rest your head, this is a good option.  
1. The communication from them is great: clear, concise, speedy responses;
2. Clean;
3. Easy to access (in the center of the city)
4. Facilities to cook, keep food refrigerated,a cupboard to keep non-perishables;
5. Honest and dependable owners

Do *NOT* stay here if:
1.  You like your own bathroom (this has shared bathrooms)
2. You want TV (no cable/satellite/TV)
3. You like hotel amenities (no pool, no room service)
4. You have kids - not a place for kids

Just the basics....

Good:
Location (near Hallgrimskirkja)
Staff (friendly and helpful) 

Bad:
Mattresses (will make your back ache)
WiFi (you have to re-login often) 
Walls (thin, will let all noise through) 
Toilet and shower (no toilet paper available sometimes) 

If these problems would be resolved, the place can be recommended
