We visited Reykjavik at Winter Solstice ‘22 during a big snowstorm. Had an upstairs end room that was very comfortable and cozy and had a great view. Holiday decorations all over the downtown were magical. It’s a very walkable downtown even in the snow. The owner Steinunn was so nice and helped us plan out our days with maps and helpful suggestions. All the comments about fabulous breakfasts are true, we were blown away! Thanks for a very memorable trip, hope to see you again.

Aptly named Reykjavik Treasure

The staff was friendly. The room was clean. I stayed in the bottom level under the kitchen. The noise was unbelievable. From 6:30 a.m. until after 11 a.m. I listened to staff walk back and forth and back and forth as they set up, listened to other patrons eating breakfast and then it's staff cleaning up. There is another room on the bottom level. If anyone walks into the building(the little hall) from outside, let's say at 1 a.m., it's like they are barreling into your room and feels very unsafe and weird and now you're up. You are not allowed to use the kitchen. Just so you know. You can sit in it. The money I spent(over $2k for just me for 7 nights), I should have gotten a hotel room. At least there would have been a chance for in-room coffee.

This B&B was charming, fun, warm, and everything we could have hoped for in a location in Reykjavik.  

Located close by Bus Stop #1 (City Hall), it made for a very quick walk with our luggage when we arrived from the airport - and as a meeting point for pickup for the various tours which we'd arranged (Blue Lagoon and South Coast Tour). 

The check-in instructions were detailed and helpful and we had no issues with the outside lock or in locating our room. 

We had a top floor room, which provided skylights and other windows which we (unexpectedly and delightedly) used to view the northern lights on our first night there! What a wonderful surprise!!  The slanty roofline and beams made for a charming room. As we're both taller, we did need to take care sitting up in bed and backing up from the mirror in the bathroom, but those are good memories to bring home.   

Learning that this B&B is one of the oldest buildings/homes in Reykjavik was an added bonus. 

We were only able to enjoy the breakfast on our last day there - as our tours on the other days left too early. However, that breakfast was delightful - the food was tasty (the skyr I enjoyed was wonderful and the bread my husband tasted was some of the best he's ever had).  We really liked the opportunity to sit at the table with fellow travelers and share stories. 

Helpful hints: 
Very close to Bus Stop #1 for booking of tours and airport transport. 

Also very close to a number of incredible restaurants (all of which were recommended by our hostess). Most locations (excepting items like the Perlan museum) are within walking distance.  

Being so close to everything, the location has the potential for noise, so you might consider bringing earplugs - but we never used ours. 

Make sure you look up at night - the northern lights may appear as grey clouds in the night sky; use your phone to take a photo and you might be surprised at the blue/green colors that show up.

Our experience did not match many of the reviews on Trip Advisor.  We stayed here at the end of our ring road trip so we had already stayed in many locations which we can use as a comparison.  On the positive side, the location is excellent for accessing central Reykjavik activities and shopping.  The room was clean and breakfast was included.  Parking is not provided, but we found street parking and there is also a garage close by so that was not a concern.  

We are an active, fit couple in our 60's and both of us are on the taller side.  We had room 103 which is on the lower level with a window that looks out onto the street.  The bed is in a loft area with steps to access the bed.  There is no handrail and one side of the bed is up against the wall so there is no access to that side other than crawling as there is only about 4 feet of headroom to the ceiling.  Access to the common area was up a steep, narrow, curving set of steps - the owners ask you to remove your shoes while in the house, so these steps are very slippery and a safety hazard for even those without any mobility issues. For any older travelers or those with mobility or stability issues, or those concerned about hitting their head as they exit the bed, this is not ideal.  So, this is just a heads up for consideration when booking a room.  

Room 103 is under the common area and any activity above and elsewhere in the building (footsteps, conversation, toilets flushing) can easily be heard making it difficult to fall asleep.  Other reviewers commented on the street noise which wasn't a real issue for us.  Breakfast was fine - essentially what most hotels would offer.  There was no interaction with the owner, but we were provided check in instructions which noted all the fines that would be charged for lost keys, missing items, leaving the place in unacceptable condition etc.  No other place we stayed gave us all those warnings before check in and this did not contribute to the warm welcoming experience we anticipated for a bed and breakfast.   For the price, there would be better options unless you are looking for a funky alternative to other guesthouses or hotels and don't have issues with access, mobility, steep stairs etc. 

great location, unique rooms

Warm, sweet, historic & welcoming!  Perfect location - easy access to shopping, restaurants and activities (whale watching, FlyOver Iceland, etc.).  The whole place was very clean and very inviting. The hostess was full of information and suggestions.  I really appreciated her breakfast offerings which were delicious, and she shared with us what was typical for an Icelandic breakfast. We only booked 1 night and then flew home, but I want to come back.

Truly a treasure!

Stayed in upstairs room under the eves.  Loved the experience.  Don't stay on 3rd floor if you are tall, not enough ceiling space for tall folks under the eves.  Stairs to 3rd floor are steep.
Owner & her team are hospitable and genuinely try to ensure you have a memorable experience.  Recommendations on what to do in the area.  Arrange for taxi pickup at front door.  Allowed me to use the laundry.

Treat yourself to a wonderful experience in Reykjvik

Great cozy place right in the middle of all the restaurants and museums.  Owner is super kind and helpful.  Beds were comfortable and clean.  Breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade bread. Highly recommend this B and B.

Excellent B and B

Clean, comfortable, quiet place in the city center. More of a neighborhood location. Steinunn was a terrific hostess. 
Perfect English, great suggestions. LOVELY breakfast. So happy we chose Reykjavik Treasure B& B. 
We stayed on the top floor. The ceiling is slanted, which was charming, but know that before you go. If you’re over 6 feet, you’ll bump your head a lot. It was not a bother at all.  

We stayed 5 nights in January 2023. 5 minute walk from Bus stop #1 and also 5 minutes from most downtown attractions.

Wonderful place to stay!! Unbeatable location

Stayed here for one night on our final night of Iceland. We had a car but left early so parked on a nearby side street, which was free after 4pm. 
Check in was very easy with codes provided, we unfortunately didn’t see the hosts but we were only there a short time. 
Location is excellent, a short walk into town. 
Room was very clean and comfortable, with a private bathroom. 
The house itself was lovely, really nicely furnished and we’re sad we didn’t get breakfast due to an early flight!

Excellent night stay

My boyfriend and I stayed at the treasure B&B for five nights and it was a perfect stay. We were in one of the larger downstairs rooms which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast at the property is delicious, and the nice part is that some bits change daily so if you are staying for a few days, there is a good variety. 
The host is incredibly friendly and helpful with lots of tips and travel advice. 
Lastly, the location of this B&B is unbeatable. Fantastic location with a car park within a one minute walk if you are renting a car. 

Highly recommend this for your Reykjavík stay.
